Great video this information . An example of measuring the pump would have put this over the top. ( does everyone understand water pump opening vs housing opening ).

Whats the function of the disc do at the end of the thermostat? It looks like it seals the opening at the pump, but why is it made on the thermostat? I cant find the answer online, and you seem to be very knowledgeable on the subject.
Also is it neccessary to loop the heater core off or can you just cap it off.. 1/2 of the internet says it matters, other half says it doesnt.
    Thanks!

If you cap them off, remove the disc from the thermostat.

@@Sdpartscenterwhy is it necessary to take the disc off if they are blocked? Won’t that essentially be the same has having the bypass always open?

This video is awesome, thank you so much. So i have a 02 Ws.6 with a late model waterpump (ls2 is what they commonly reffered it too)where it has the seperate thermostat and housing, so i would need the ls2 dimensioned thermostat correct? My original thermo had 4 holes on the bottom of the thermo where it plugs up the bypass valve, and the ls3 i believe has three bumps on the bottom of the thermo where it plugs the byoass valve.

Yes, you would need the LS2 thermostat.

What an absolute piece of shit design. Hundreds of dollars trying to find the right thermostat no one carries the housing. They just sell the entire water pump absolute joke, waste of money, waste of time

Rock auto sells just the housings. I just got an ls3 housing.
