Foxglove landscape in Wax - A2

- Foxgloves flourish, blooming in June & July, their beautiful red violet magenta pink florets climbing up those tall elegant stems. This easy to watch 20 minute video witnesses an A2 sized foxglove landscape in encaustic wax coming to life (594mm x 420mm). Painted onto card base using the encaustic art wax blocks (non-resinous wax), Michael Bossom guides the colours with heated tools, to find a final image of remembered experiences.
I love watching and learning your techniques which are very helpful. Very inspiring. Many thanks
such a peaceful process, beauty stored inside flows out. inspiring, thank you for sharing
I loved viewing your video and thank you for sharing your talent, your work is beautiful.
How fantastic this is. I saw this for the first time at a craft exhibition in Sheffield years ago and was hooked immediately Michael you are an inspiration indeed. So glad to find you on you tube I will definitely improve now !! 👍🤗
Thanks Wendy :) You can always find the YT channel on our website at www.encaustic.com or my own at www.michaelbossom.com too - thanks :)
Loved it thank you, I have recently tried this and waiting for my own kit to come xx
Wundervoll und einzigartig
Love this
Very inspiring!
Incredible!
This has to be the best Encaustic art I have seen Micheal I am loving my new found art and having lots of fun creating. I first saw you on Create and Craft a few years ago and more recently on Hochanda and I finally took the plunge and started using my tools , I am loving it, Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful piece of art xXx
Hi Michael. I have really enjoyed your tutorials. I know for a painting, there would be no requirement to put a finish over. I was thinking this might be a nice addition to my woodturning. But since those would be handled, I'm thinking a finish might be required. Do you have advice?
Hello Debbie. Wax sealer would work ok - it is an acrylic based clear coating much like a varnish but with the similar sheen to natural beeswax. Brian Nelson at www.encausticart.co.uk will have some.
Nádherné.
Unbelievable master piece!! All this with and iron!! I'm in AWWW!!! Fantastic!!!
I so love your foxglove piece. Thank you for sharing!
A great lesson! Very nice work. Thank you!
I searched all over the place for a dry iron like yours and i cant's find it anywhere. All i find is steam iron with wholes underneath which for sure can't be use for this. Any website you can give me to find it so i can order it? Please. Thank you
importers for the Encaustic Art range are in many countries - I don't know where you are but you do so check on this list page for your country: www.encausticart.com/suppliers/ good luck
Thanks for sharing. Often wondered if I could use crayons and an regular iron and do something similar? beautiful imagery
... you could use crayons but all wax types behave differently and may be less lightfast, etc.
Great art! I love it! Nature's inspiration
I share your love for foxgloves and I really found this tutorial/nature video most enjoyable. I've never ever seen so many toad's eggs, they remind me of beads. Chains and chains of beads. I love how your painting turned out.
I have no word’s 😳🤩🤩🤩🥰 unbelievable gorgeous 😍
Thanks :)
fabulous video
You are amazing
porfavor alquien que me explique como sellaman esos cuadritos de colore y si se puede hacer sobre tela
Beautiful painting, and i loved the footage of the toads 🐸
Прелестно, очень понравилось, обязательно буду рисовать, спасибо
I'm sure it's beautiful. I love foxgloves. I'm impressed you answered my comment since it was so long ago you did this video. Have a wonderful summer enjoying nature.
Thanks. You too.
I am enjoying your videos immensely.. I am a encaustic newbie, and your videos and techniques have given me the courage to move forward with this craft... Beautiful art..
TFS! :)
Thanks Denise. Encouraging others to move forwards is a sort of happy by-product of one's own creativity and confidence :)
this whole video is the most soothing, beautiful and meditative thing I have seen since Corona caused the lockdown. + Gotta love toads.
Glad you enjoyed it ;)
Thank you for sharing. It was fascinating to watch you work. What lovely countryside you live in. I do encaustic painting, but I haven't tried it with an iron yet. You have inspired me to give it a try.
Thanks Karen. I hope you enjoy the iron work :)
Fantastic video!!! Always loved toads! I never knew they laid eggs like that. so funny breading pond decorated with toad eggs. like a string of Christmas lite of toad eggs. thanks for the video!!!!
Thanks. I've never again seen that place so full of toads as it was that year :)
You dont fuse with the hot gun at the end because with the iron it's hot enough so it fuses naturally?
Thanks Odette. Yes, that is correct. The iron is in fact fusing the colour into a single layer every time it rests onto the waxed surface. This is totally opposite of brushed on layers which need the fusing in order to merge and combine together. Glad you enjoyed this painting - it is foxglove time right now in Wales! (June).
I really enjoyed watching your creativity Michael. My background is in Oils, Acrylics and pencil. With colour pencils and pro markers as a recent acquired skill. I'd heard of painting with wax, however, until watching this video I'd actually never seen it. Is that a special kind of iron, or a travel iron. I can grasp and understand how you work things into the painting, and the Idea of Foxgloves being there, (our brain filling in the deficit of shape and form) as I practice the same with both oil and Acrylic paintings. I really enjoyed your work, and I learnt a few things I even enjoyed the Toads lol. Hard to think it's the huge Toad underneath that's the female! Lol
The iron is a good quality one made for encaustic art, (but it is based on a good travel iron). The important factors are good quality thermostat that holds a set temperature and nice flat smooth base plate. Temperature settings are pretty low.
+artsencaustic Thank you 😊
Thank you for the tutorial and the technique.
С восторгом наблюдала вашу работу над картиной! Очень понравилась! Творческих успехов вам!
