nice work with the combination of camera angles and drone ... and a time lapse to boot...will be in that area soon and will look for the home stay.. can you share the equipment you are using? (cameras, mic, drone, mounts, etc...) thanks
I'm not sure if they speak English that well, though the guy farmer used to be a doctor so I supposed his English ability should be pretty good. The place isn't searchable in English though, you'd have to search for บ้านฟางโฮมสเตย์ which directly transliterates to Ban Fang Homestay. If booking or just showing up proves difficult, there are plenty of places in the area to choose-from. I simply chose that one because it was cheap and roughly equidistant between Doi Pha Tang and Phu Chi Fa.
@@AshtonLawson thanks...I can speak Thai (more or less) so will look for it...and talk to the locals... we're riding up from BKK so this is a possible stopping point on the 2nd day...
You should do fine then. Regarding equipment: Sony a7III with the kit 28-70mm or Zeiss 55mm 1.8 and a random Boya-branded faux-shotgun microphone - didn't bring tripod or gimbal with me this time as it was extra weight and thought my hands are steady enough. Timelapsey clouds were done by mounting my camera on a rock. DJI Mavic Pro - I always fly manually, never use any automated mode, always shoot in 4K Cinelike - despite only the 60mbps bitrate, it lets me crop-in a bit when I need to. Foxeer Box 4K as my action cam - mounts are all custom 3D printed, since I've got the printer. Actually one of my old videos showing the process I used for my helmet mount, but I also printed out a tail-mount and two side-engine mounts to get the front-wheel shot. Post production is solely with Premiere Pro 2019 (love the extra colour grading features regarding hue vs sat vs luma) and Audition for audio clean-up. In my other videos you'll occasionally see After Effects for more intense stabilisation and 3D text.
@@AshtonLawson thanks for that...7iii makes sense..smaller and easier to carry...as is the mavic...don't know about the Foxxer Box so will look that up...I'm on the fence about the GoPro at the moment...
I would say that, if you have the money, GoPro is just so easy to use and write reliable. On the Nan trip last year I used a friend's Hero 5 and it was so simple and convenient, great colour reproduction, dynamic range, and decent sound even with all that wind.
@@asweetoranges Unforunately, it's written in Thai, and whilst we were there we only conversed with the owners in Thai as well, so I'm not sure about their English ability. This is a link to their location on Google Maps: goo.gl/maps/fPv59BedKSNCQCQT7 As for sunset, either Phu Chi Fa or Doi Pha Tang, though I believe there is camping available at Phu Chi Fa, so maybe that's a better option.
I'm humbled by the thought that I could contribute to making RUclips more interesting. If you haven't seen my Nan Trip teasers on my Facebook, I might compile all of them into a single video and upload to RUclips as well, then :P.
Yes, it was. News from riders around the area say that they've been resurfacing it for a while now. Annoying in some areas, fun in others. Good opportunity to stand-up and get the back sliding a bit, but considering Mameow's never done long distance before and we went straight into road works, had to hang back a bit to make sure she was okay.
Another wonderful, beautiful video story Ashton.
quality.
nice video dude.. rock on
Nicely done video
Love it Ashton
Cheers Tony 😀

You like an adventure , 800 km I would do that on Air Asia........lol
Ask me how I got to Chiang Mai from Phuket to begin with, lol
By bike !!!
In one day!
Competing with Air Asia after all, well be safe
I can't compete in convenience, only pricing. And even then I lose out during low-season 🤣!
Nice video! =)
