I've been scouring RUclips for the last couple of years learning about all things RV life as my plan is to live in a bumper pull trailer. You folks from Canada amaze me. You seem to adapt well to cold weather. My question is, do elderly people from the "Great White North" grow tired of the cold and the snow? If so, what then? I live in Northern Michigan and I, like many other people from the States can escape the frigid temps by heading south. I used to love to ski and play in the snow as a child but not anymore. Our long winters have me wanting to never see another snowflake as long as I live. Winter is for the young, so again I ask, what do the elderly do up there???
Welcome to the channel ! We'll we have lots of snowbirds that head your way during cold months and other sit by the window waiting for spring hahaha ..I get it though my plan is to spend time down south as well when the kids leave the nest ! Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe !
What i've noticed is the ceiling under my panels is cool in the summer. I forgot how hot the skin of a vehicle gets and the added layer of a solar panel prevents the skin directly underneath from getting hot. When i started insulating my ceiling i started in other areas and not under the panels. Your van has a finished interior so you may not notice this, but mine was an empty skin and it was quite noticable. It was a fluke for me, i just touched different parts of the ceiling on a hot day and my fingers noticed it. With small panels you may or may not notice an improvement in your interior temperature. In the winter it's the opposite, there wont be sun warming up that part of your roof in the cold weather.
Quick question.. Any way on a future video you could show your screens in the small sliding side windows? I have a similar van ('95 Chevy G20) but the screens are ripped out. I want to put them back in but can't seem to find where they are attached to.. Thanks! 🤘
Totally can ! They go in like household screen with that rubber garket pushed into a smal Grove on the inside of the can but keep an eye on the next video il give you a shout out ! Cheers
@beardedvanadventures Awesome! I really appreciate it. On mine they are behind some metal piece screwed into the van body but that didn't seem right. The van came like that when I purchased it. Thanx again!
Fantastic. Why not go with lifepo batteries with internal heating? I assume you have a place to plug the van in when you're not using it. I'm not as lucky so I'm sticking with agm for now.
@beardedvanadventures Any idea what brand you'll go with? If I had the money, SOK so I'll prolly go with Li-time. Lots of youtube testers like them a lot. Looking forward to the next video.
I can't wait to watch this tonight. I've been thinking about doing the same.
You can get Lithium batteris that have heaters built into them so below freezing weather is not a problem!
Lithium? Or Lifepo4!
@@skepticalmechanic you can buy special heaters for batteris they sit on either side of the battery

Definitely I agree !
The cold doesn't worry me as much as the heat , the diesel heater kept me warm in -30c this winter ..cheers !
Excellent low buck set up
Thanks buddy..I guess il be seeing you at vanmania?
@@beardedvanadventures looking forward to it. Hope you can make it to the van nationals.
@@martinrafferty4221 if im not away for work ..il be at the nationals !
Nice setup! How do you keep the van cool in the summer? And plans for a roof fan/vent in the future?
Thanks ! I have a portable ac when camping at campgrounds otherwise it's battery operated fans..yes a fantastic fan ins on the plan ! Cheers 🤙
Could you look at self-warming lithium batteries?
Definitely, but the van sits more often then it's uses during winter months so il switch back and forth to keep them healthy. Cheers !

I guess that's an option but for the cost of the lithium battery I'd hate to leave it exposed to that cold all the time ..cheers !

Hi 👋
Nice informative video. First time viewer, can I ask what the black round thing is on the roof? Is it a small vent of some kind?
It is a small vent with a fan ..1986 version of a fantastic fan lol 😆
