    First story mirrors the work done by Peter Andrews in Australia. At first regarded as a nut he is now honoured as the man who showed how to restore degraded dry land farms in the inland.

    Just come across a very interesting plant called Vetiver grass, it will grow in hot climates and could in my opinion grow in deserts. There's quite a few video's on RUclips about it. With it's deep rooting system and tolerance of heat I think it's worth trying,

    Ritha, Shikekai are soap trees, Jatropha, karanj r biodiesel trees Birds plant more trees Taking advantage of birds habits my . Another suggestion is Erect"T"shaped pillars made of wood or metal or some others,..i.e.making proper arrangement for birds sitting keeping6-8 ft.distance between2 pillars.When birds sit on pillars ,through their dropout seeds sow ,help in planting.

    Nice initiatives, but in Kenya, i think you need more trees! As for the states, it just seems that you can't catch up with the destruction rate.

    WOW!!! Do you think this would work the Sahara? The second part, a solid effort by the mining community could have millions of trees planted at the conclusion of the site, timber companies are obligated why shouldn't mining companies be obligated? Also, the guy was saying that the land is like concrete, selecting the right 'pioneering" trees would dig and aerate the ground for themselves. Roots that grow deep have the strength to crack solid rocks with their roots.

    When people start doing good for themselves, their families, groups, mankind and the environment I am encouraged. I have always known and believed man can and will correct his actions when given the opportunity to do so. It is a learning process. And some attempts are not as correct as others but it is the forward motion that I recognize and laud. And if the cows are getting a bad rap for the time being then so be it. Let'em eat worms until they figure out cows are not the polluters we are being told. In the mean time we are making forward progress.

    Small rain water storage dams very important for the Africa, Asia, America, Australia, these small dams will keep underground water table stable and will bring a thousand of benefits to the local community.

    stop overgrazing and you will see the difference....though that is quite a good thing

  • @Mrbfgray

    Hate to "armchair advise" but those dams will be far stronger if you simply make them slightly more labor and material intensive via a gentle curve against the flow....or less intensive via making them thinner and still stronger. Concrete walls have very low tensile strength so the entire structure should be in compression. I just fear that they won't hold up long as constructed here.

    welll i do not see the sand wall as a long term solution. There will come more rain, bringing more sand and rocks, consequently overflowing the sand wall. To build it higher will not help, coz the river bed is not deeper. Well i would look into the mountains, where the river comes from and look what can be done there..

    I hate to be the one asking....What about the stream and the land further down?
    Edit: the first bit with the dams I mean.

    • @Tunawesmake
      @Tunawesmake 4 года назад

      The dam is porous. As explained you have layers of cement then layers of rock held in place by wire then layers of cement then rock...
      Sand accumulates over years but water passes through...

      If the community can be raised out of food insecurity you have a better chance of getting education for girls and the possibility of challenging conventional gender norms.

    A researchorganization in Beijing,has made a spcial kind of sand, that will hold onto the water, instead of letting it disapear into the Ground. It could make all desserts green.
