I like this video a lot. Most reviews are blabbing about something nobody else cares about. This is how it should be. A written summary and a video of you feeding it the beans. 10/10.
I pulled the trigger on a 2021 z900rs cafe in pearl gray a week after watching this video. I'd been interested in them for awhile, but seeing how it could be ridden and how it sounded in your video sold me on it. 100% love the bike. Subscribed.
Would love to ride one of these and the Triumph speed twin too. The look of the cafe is pretty bad ass. Like the bit of wind protection too. Nice roads out there. Thanks for sharing the video. Bike sounds great.
I've had my '23 café for two years now, and it really delivers on it promise. OPs summary is spot-on to this day (as the bike is the same). It's a blast to be aggressive with, but only to a point - which is exactly what we know we're getting into. The engine is the star of the show. It has great grunt in all the right places for those of us who aren't flogging it daily and draggin' knees. Mods - so far, I haven't done really anything beyond the simple obvious things - tail tidy, sliders, and rotating the bars to get them just right for me. I'm unemployed for about a year now, and had to pay an arm and a leg in a divorce. But, once I get back on my feet, I'll do the requisite mods to sharpen it - suspension, intake/exhaust, tires, add a few teeth to the stock rear sprocket - and the single biggest, mod...an ecu flash tune, which 'frees' the engine.
This video was one of the main reasons for me to buy a used rs cafe recently (apart from its looks). Awesome sound, easy Handling, comfy ergonomics. Got to ride it a few 100km before winter kicked in - can't wait for spring to come. Keeping my xsr700 though, its just too much fun as well
Hey Schaf, so did you change your old recording method (under the seat)? If so can you explain or make a video on the new method? Good driving as always
Great video! I started with a '77 KZ650 and put many miles on it. Had to sell it nine years ago (had some hard times) and I'm now stuck (got a good deal) with a '98 Sportster. I wish I could afford a Z900RS because your video brings back so many happy memories of my old Kawasaki.
I have been watching some of your other videos since the accident. You look and sound like your almost back to your old self. And the pegs scraping across the ground bring back the good times. Keep it on two wheels man! We are all cheering you on!!
@1:09 is a problem I never had to consider when I started out in the 1980's. These days, riding/driving near the limit of the car or environment can be frustrating knowing there is pushbikes, slow inattentive drivers & the mobile phone is never far away. Love the sound of the engine on this Kawasaki. The gearbox & clutch on these are particularly good.
Really appreciate the unique aspect of the raw mechanics you successfully manage to capture. I recently test drove the 2019 MT09 and while I loved all the performance and other things everyone raves about, I could not ignore (or get out do my head) the loud, high pitch engine noise that bike makes. I wish I would have seen a video such as this one of that bike... would have saved me about 3 hours of my day. :-). Keep it up!
I'm in a constant battle whether I shouöd get myself a Z900 or a Z900RS. I like the looks of both, a bit more the retro style, but I also love the driving modes and mobile connectivity the modern Z900 has.
wtf. She sounds beautiful! the intake whine combined with the smooth Inline 4 is magnificent! doesnt seem too obnoxious, is quick AND looks retro? bruh this a future classic or something?
LOVE this video. I got an adrenaline rush just watching it. It’s one of my favorite videos on YT. When my buddies ask why I’m so into bikes, I show them this. Great job. The Z900 Cafe is my next bike.
That road.... it brings tears to my eyes, this is heaven 😎 sold my last bike 28 years ago. But last year i decided to start again. I bought a cheap old yamaha xj750 seca to figure out if i still had it.... stupid me 😂 one time a biker, biker forever 😎 i only had time for a few rides before winther set in, and now i cant wait until spring. Every spring for 28 years i got that crible in my body, when i hear the bikes comming back on the roads after winther. Your driving are perfect 😊 im going to buy that kawasaki, no doubt
I've just ordered this bike days before. Before this video I never sounded it on road. What a perfect sound! I'll get this bike in next month. Hope it won't make me feel regret.
What a great raw video! 😍 Even if the Z900RS isn't the best bike for those mountains roads, it's actually very videogenic for Schaaf-style raws: beautiful old-school clocks, gorgeous sound, quickly scrapping pegs... 😉
Servus Schaaf! DANKE für diesen 12:20 Minuten langen Ohr-gasmus!!! 😍😍😍 Ich bekomme demnächst meine schwarze Z900RS und freu mich schon wie Schnitzel! 😜😂 Beste Grüße! ✌😎
Good to see u again, Schaaf. Picking up a Z900RS Tuesday. Header and shock & fresh oil will be ready when I get her home, then off to the Texas Hill country for more break in miles. Keep the rubber side down... :)
@@Schaaf But so expensive. Do you generally feel that motocycles should cost so much? I'm getting my Enfield interceptor tomorrow, it's my second bike, but I dream of owning this since the first time i saw your video 2018. Maybe some day.
Can't wait to try it in a few days... I come from a ER6N and I'm in love with his Z900RS Cafe! I think it's the next logical step and I don't think I'd need more than this (as much tempting are other bikes). Hopefully if I finally buy it, it'll last for many years!
yes yes yes yesyesyseyseyyes. unfortunately i haven't sat on one myself. i'm riding my dads kawasaki z1r from 1978 and this new retro bike just fits right into my aesthetic pleasure point. would love to own one. will have so save up some money tho hahaha.

Schaaf Sound great. But not much different as the z900 standard, same engine..
Well on my Chinese smart phone... Excellent i guess 😂
hey! can U teach us how to downshift smoothly like U?
Schaaf Beautiful Japanese Sound! ;)
At certain RPM there is a harmonic but that might just come off the bike itself. Other than that it's perfect!
The whine of the intake is basically an eargasm for me
not just for you ;)
Me too
Its from gearbox, CMIIW
I own a regular RS (not cafe) and it sounds better in person when hitting it hard leaned into a corner!
Almost sounds like an f1 car! And it seems like the foot pegs are too low

Dear god, this is by far the best recording of a bike I've hear yet. All of the moto journalists need to take a page out of your book. Well done mate!
thanks a lot mate!
This is the best audio I've heard so far for the Z900. You even captured the intake noise well, which is a part of what makes it so good!
Just bought this bike about 3 weeks ago, absolutely love it! I’d have to say it’s one of the best sounding stock bikes I’ve ever heard. Great video!
Glad you enjoy it!

The intake

The intake sound of the engine is awesome and is nicely heard. Good job with new recording setup!!

they only scrape because they touch down extremely early. I will never get back to my old lean angles

All foot pegs sound the same in you videos. Do you bring your own for every trip? :)
ahahaha who knows :D
I was thinking same. I just got me a 2019 cafe and can’t wait till the tires are scrubbed so I can drag the pegs.
