My Brother in law bought me a cheap knockoff tailgate assist for my truck. At -40 the bolt sheared off the bottom mount. It works great until -10c. Thanks for the great videos, Chad!!
It may be a good idea to put on the collar lock on the right side and install two. If I have one shear off, I’ll either do that or possible fab up a new bracket out of stainless and make it a little beefier. Thanks for watching!
It’s funny. I’ve had this truck for 5 years. It’s 15 years old and I love it. I really liked the tailgate assist on new trucks. I had no idea it could be retrofitted to my truck. So glad I found this.
@@ManCrafting I've had my Ram since 04, first vehicle I ever bought and I don't plan on ever getting rid of it, she's never let me down, gonna rebuild the engine with my tax break this year and she'll be good for another 23 years hopefully.
If you want a lift assist couldn't you just install another on the opposite side just installed upside down? Also would you be willing to try either the boiling water on a dent to remove the ding on the tailgate or the hot glue stick dent removal method? I'd watch either of those videos. Thanks.
Thanks Dan, I don't think flipping the shock would work since it's hydraulic vs a spring. It would probably make it harder to lift. I hadn't considered the boiling water on that dent, but I do have the dent removal kit that uses glue and the puller to work the dent out. I have had it for longer than I'd like to admit. It's definitely happening soon. I am so tired of looking at that dent. If I can make it 75% better I'd be happy.
My buddy has a 2008 F250 with the stripper pole and it's light as a feather. Not so for my 2011. I always thought my tailgate was heavy but one day when my buddy tried opening it he mentioned how much heavier it is than his. Sure enough when I tried his it was probably 20lbs lighter.
Oh, I can't stress just how much or how necessary a truck is. Just think of all your friends who can't count on you for moving day! lol Thanks for watching. Now go to Auto Trader and find a good used truck.
Tail End Customs I thought the same thing, but it had 4.5 stars. I have seen some say they add a second on the passenger side. I may end up doing that.
FUNNYBOY12375 thanks for coming over. Great question. It’s designed for drivers side. That said, there is a way to add it to the passenger side or have two installed to balance the pressure in two pistons. If you look typically on the passenger side there is a gap on the hinge for removing the tailgate. So the piston would lift it out. If you add a tailgate lock on the hinge, like this... amzn.to/38sieSk you can add it on the passenger side.
Nice video 👍👍👍👍
Gib Clark thanks Gib. Trying to be more consistent in 2020. So I’ll be posting some quick projects/product reviews.
Great Job Chad!
Thanks. Pretty easy but an excellent cheap upgrade.
Nice upgrade
Specific Love Creations thanks. You coming to Atlanta in February?
@@ManCrafting Oh yes, bought WBC tickets on Day #1, how about you?
Nice truck :-)
William Lutes not as new as yours, but I love it. 😁
Awesome! Definitely gonna get one!!
Don’t touch my truck. 🤣 I still can’t believe that lady backed into your truck while we were standing there. Crazy!

@@ManCrafting great ideas!! Or I stop leaning on it when it's cold!! Lol! Thanks!!
Muryl Marler maybe. Lol.
Nicely done Chad, worthwhile upgrade! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Fred McIntyre thanks Fred. I am very happy with it. I had no idea this was available for retrofit. So glad that Amazon recommended it.
Oh man, this will be perfect for my 97 RAM, was jealous of my coworkers new truck when they first started adding them.

Bdkj3e _ I Ike it. I had a 99 Dodge Dakota 4x4 I wish I had never sold. I get it.
That's been on my long term to do list for ages now!
Don’t delay! 🤣
Alot better than before 👍
definitely! Thanks.

Dan The Maker Man that makes sense.
Nice video, Chad. I have an F-150 and have been considering something like this. I think I will, indeed, get one of these kits. Thanks for sharing!
Tim Guba hey Tim how are you doing? I think you’ll like it. Real easy install.

This makes it so much less likely to slam.
Interesting product Chad....now I just need a truck...lol.

Things you never knew existed. Must be because of the jumper battery purchase.
Not sure. It was a while after that but maybe. I also purchased some fuel filters. But still. Usually I get fuel filter emails after that. 🤣
Just remember you get what you pay for. Shocks probably won’t last long. Guess as cheap as it is won’t be bad to replace once a year if so. 👍🏼

Is that for divers side only or could you install on pass side to ps found you on tick tolk

Looks great!
If only there was a "fast" Electric Actuator for Lifting/Closing and Opening/Lowering...🤔
TK Skagen now that would be something! Not a $27 something but I’ll bet it could be done.
