This young man is truly amazing and should be extremely proud of what he accomplished. Truly professional craftsmanship. And an excellent amount of patience.
i would have a suggestion for the car owner that he could do shorter rear window so you could still access the fill port from the outside im amazed how beautifull this car is
❤️
This was great Larry, thanks. You're helping him more than you know as well. Hats off to you.
This is by far my favorite video on your channel to date.
I love that you started with his mom.
What an awesome family and story.
As a parent, this is a video that I think any one with kids should watch.
Thank you for helping me tell my story, it was awesome talking to you and having the opportunity to do a more in-depth rundown of the car and what was needed to make it happen.
Great work, seriously impressive
so glad to see the build here ive been warching it on instagram
dude i have been dreaming about an 8-1 setup. you did such a good job.
The creativity and quality is off the charts on this build. Great work!
I smell a hillclimb car, bro. Get that thing dyno tuned and take it to Pikes Peak
Man I could listen to this guy talk about the car all day. So well spoken, professional, and also humble. Rooting for this guy to do more great things in the future at such a young age 💯
He’s building an E30 now!
@@nathanbagonya9497 does he have a youtube
It’s what happens when your parents have money
@@konradzach4326 bro he built the car in a 450 sq foot shop and built it all himself
Agreed, this is the guy who needs his own show on Netflix or something. Sponsors just throwing money at him and some other cool builders to create incredible gas to fun&sound conversion machines!
This kids going to be absolutely incredible. Over the next 10-30 years. Can’t imagine the quality of stuff he’s going to be building. Congratulations
Probably going to build a super car from scratch
@@Vaigue i hope not i hope he keeps going the jdm route from a modern semi jdm car to a full blown s15 or something along the lines of that
@@scottyslattery3090 terrible idea 1 of 1, supercar > jdm car that everyone has
@@Jake-vc1jd so buy a supercar everyone had and not do much too it ? Ok stupidest idea ever. Atleast jdm cars have more then one bodykit available so tell me again how a supercar is worth it and not a jdm ? Cause u obviously arent into cars if you think supercars are the key
@scotty slattery Everyone has done that, there isn't much that hasn't been done.
Nice build. Those headers are a work of art! This kid and his skills are extremely impressive!!
would’ve been a shame to have such sick looking headers and unfinished car.
Glad this project was running and driving
Except they don’t scavenge correctly. If they did the corvette racing team, NASCAR and Indy would’ve used 8to 1.
8 to 1 headers are idiotic
What a heart warming,, incredible story. Mad respect to mom & grandpa for not only having his back, but supporting his vision, & his dreams along the way. A 15yr old saving up $15K in 9yrs is just unheard of now. His passion is truly special. Dont EVER sell that car. Hands down the cleanest & sickest FRS on the planet. Drive it & enjoy it!
A 6 yo opening up a “car account” and getting paid $1500 per year for “household chores” is unheard of because most families can’t afford to do shit like that 😂
@@Kenan-gm2kc still a great story and hes obviously a talented guy who deserved it, but i agree most families dont pay their kids to do chores or buy $15000 cars for their kids, most guys financially wouldnt be able to build something like this until their late 20s
I thought they said 50 lol 15 isn’t THAT crazy and damn sure wouldn’t go far on a build like this

Perfectly played for a portfolio car. Even down to the color so the work he's done gets all the attention. I wish him the best for his business future because he is incredible
The sky is the limit with this man right here. Cannot wait to see what he does in the future. Absolutely killed it
This dude is on another level - jack of all trades and doing this level of work on his own - speechless
Idk about that
@@JNAMOTORSPORTSreally. Do you even change your own oil?
Props to this guy for what he has done. You can tell that he comes from a good family. So we’ll spoken and he knows his stuff. I hope he continues to grow and become someone that everyone knows. Truly inspirational. And thanks to mom, grandpa, and the family for supporting his passion! Larry seems to always bring us the best!
I hope this kid has a great career and props to his parents for their support. I hope this video gets seen by many.
THIS, this is why this scene has never, and will never get old. Great original builds, and builders that can talk about it all day lol
Been following this build for a little while now and the amount of time he has put into it is insane. I believe he said about 2 years of welding went into the project
There are no real words that describe this dude's passion and flare for automotive engineering. Insane that he built this in a garage basically. Insane that he built this with no experience, extraordinary how well everything works together. For his age, skill, imagination, tools available, I'm convinced this guy can build anything. 💯
It might be a gamble for him but a hell a lot of sponsors saw his vision and ability to create. This young man is golden to the aftermarket industry 🤜🏽👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This young man proves that car guys are not dying out, and that there's more to car building than bolt-ons. Literally everything looks like functional art on this thing! You can SEE the passion!
You know you've done a great job when Larry praises your craftsmanship repeatedly during the 29 min video. If Larry is impressed by the car in person than props to the builder. Maybe he's a Chip Foose on becoming. 👏
as a 21 year old whos striving to do things related, this has me ripping out my hair and yelling at myself to get on my shit. truly an inspiration
same here haha
Do you think you'll actually go through with it though? This build looks great but it seems like he sacrificed so many other things to get here. It's fine for him since it's literally the only thing he cares about but if you also care about other things then it's not worth it I'd say.
@@CockatooDude well this is his build, I'm not doing what he's doing. Funny enough 3 months ago me didn't know I'd be buying a car but I also managed to find a car that is fun but makes no sacrifices for what I need it to do considering I have a kid and need good mpg, I recently purchased a Lexus ct200h Fsport with suspension mods(performance not stance) and the thing handles like a Miata on continental sports, but I managed to keep the ride quality and the things as smooth as can be. Literally feels like your floating going 80 thru turns with very minimal body roll. Absolutely incredible. I think it's worth it, considering I found a car that meets my needs with no sacrifices.
@@windows95pro48ah yes the Lexus Prius
@@macscars115 definitely under selling the car by calling it a Prius, I get the same gas mileage as one, but none of the stigma, phenomenal looking car, with better handling, calling it a Prius is a cope
As someone's who's built a few vehicles in my time this young man has an amazing amount of potential. It's funny hearing mom say "We never knew what the end was gunna be, he did, we had to catch up" As many times while building a car I've told people "Wait till you see the end" Then when they do its something like "Now I see what you where talking about!"
Edit: Hearing the simple tools he had, that's amazing.
This guy is so young and obviously very talented. If he maintains that passion, he will undoubtedly become a big name in the industry.
This young man is an inspiration, and what great parents he had supporting his creative talents. Freakin amazing talent
Larry, young Brother, that was a great interview. The distance - as a journalist - you showed, went a long way to helping the story telling. You were truly working for the viewer. Great job
Dude is an absolute BEAST! so talented and seems like a really great guy! I love that he admits he can't drive it so well yet which makes this Cinderella Story that much better! The next Chip Foose 🏁👌
What in the ...? Taught himself to weld. Making a cage, then the frame.
Incredible.
Thanks Larry Chen for highlighting this !
This kid is exactly what the car community needs right now! The passion is strong with this one
This build is insanely good. The wow factor that you see, not to mention the fact that this kid has done all this himself and learned along the way impresses me more. This guy will be big in the industry if he keeps with it.
Stellar build.
I bow to this kids craftsmanship... first time welding stainless and he did that... my God. Get this man a shop, sponsors, a TV show, and anything else to show off his skill. Like damn son...
Ok so I saw pictures of this from Sema I think? Did not realise the extent of the build. An absolute masterpiece from the young builder/designer. Just wow.
This thing is no joke, I am just blown away with how much detail and planning for such a young guy
this young hot rodder is a master in all senses. Totally blown away by this, well done son
I hope there is still an Industry and market in this country for his skills as he gets older.
The coolest thing in the video: the builder and his supportive family. He stuck to a clear, clean vision and did whatever it took to get there. It is completely hilarious that the last step will be learning how to drive a manual transmission!
I helped do the renders for Cams car. Love his car!
I'm doing an ls swap on a 944 and I love the "Bluetooth" wiring harness idea! I'm going to look into doing the same thing. I was also thinking about making an 8 to 1 header. I learned so much from this guy, we're the same age too it's amazing
Shout out to grandpa!!! And cool on mom for teaching him to save. I love this story
When it’s passion, work is a smile. This isn’t 3 years work! He began the vision at 6 yrs old. Inspired 👍
Amazing kid and an amazing family... If every family was like this raising their kids with an amazing support system, just imagine how far humanity would go so quickly!
The exhaust manifold is superb. Perfect symmetry, perfect aesthetics. Nailed
his mom is so supportive and I love how she is trying to get into this for him . moms are awesome dude .
Props to the parents for being so supportive
very well spoken guy, sounds like his parents raised him right, hope the best for this young builder, so many doors will open for him
Excellent work. The passion and patience to build something like this on a first car is unreal. Big things coming your way in this industry.
I’m only 12 minutes in to this video and wow. When I was young I bought a 72 nova SS and started rebuilding it, unfortunately my dad made me sell it because he hated the car. Much love to the family for supporting him, I will always do the same for my daughter. To me it’s the most impressive build I’ve seen on Larry’s channel and I love this channel.
Larry, thank you for this amazing story. I have to share this with my daughter who recently has purchased an FRS and wanted a few ideas and Wow this is the best young mechanic does well. Second place not bad at all and for SEMA. Outstanding effort and a very proud mom to whom you got to start the story which was what sold me on this video. Larry Keep up the human interest stories, Outstanding efforts!
I love this kid! (No homo😂) his family, the way he just dives in, the aspiration…brings a tear to my eye 🥲 go you! 😊 thank for featuring him and his family!
this kid's family is something else. him and his mom are so well spoken. I'm really looking forward for what this kid/family can do in the future

wow, for a 21 year old this guy knows his stuff much respect to him and his build GG
I'd like to thank the sponsors for taking a chance on this guy. Everyone together makes the world go round. Let's keep the car culture alive forever
23:50 It’s not just his first manual transmission car, it’s his first automatic transmission car, his first car, first project car, first everything car.
I love how the intake is on backwards. It's so clean under the hood almost looks too good to be true. Hella build and wicked mind!
#1 thing in his process is supportive parents. So awesome how he came into this car. All by himself too. This dude is so smart, I love seeing this. GREAT car
Nice freaking job you did a great job. The 8-1 headers are sick.
listen dude came from money and thats how it was possible but the support of family made him do it which is dope as hell
we are so lucky that some of these kids are actually doing something amazing like this
I have been following this guy since he first started this build a while back and it has been awesome to watch come together
This guy has got a bright future and has a lot to give the car culture be wicked to c what he is doing in 5 year's frm now. EPIC 😎🇬🇧✌👍👊
As a fellow 21 year old car enthusiast, I am absolutely mind blown at the amount of talent and pure skill he has. Amazing build, and totally deserving of all the attention it’s getting. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable as far as cars go, but the idea of taking an 86 and rewriting the design to make a functional, yet creatively constructed build is light years ahead of me. Glad I watched, and good luck to all you guys. (Subbed, cause the cinematography is way too good)
Super cool build, doesn't like like much is left of the original shell.
That backdrop is insane too!
From 15-21 I was doing nothing more than watching TV and playing video games in my spare time. What an accomplishment! All the best!
I grew up with this guy it is cool to see where he has gone in life
The engineering on this car is amazing. It's obviously a track-focused car, and I would love to see how it performs in that environment in acceleration and handling.
Mom and Pops was raising a mad scientist and didn’t even know it! That’s Grand!🏆😎
21?! Christ! Go kid, keep kicking ass. Honestly speechless-- determination and will, create wonders!
I've been following his Instagram for over a year now so pumped to see how it came out and how many people appreciate it
What’s his instagram
that kid is going places. he's creating his own path
Amazing build! Great seeing a young man have so much passion!
Smart kid and great mom for setting him up for success and for putting up with his mess helping him learn instead of stopping him. And also grandpa for helping replenish funds with the promise of doing more amazing things!!
Very impressive portfolio! This guy is amazing.
Thank you larry for providing these video.
Mom’s comments about wanting a car with warranty are so great. Her son much more capable than any warranty. Awesome.
Wow!!! Car is amazing!!! So much detail and nothing to crazy! Priceless!
He is so confident and well spoken yet respectful and humble. Larry genuinely seems proud like a parent
The car is not my cup of tea, but very impressive build from such a young guy with his head in the right direction. We definitely need more young talent in this industry.
I’m not gonna lie, I saw so many people hyping up this car for being an LS swap, and didn’t really see anything special about it. But now watching this video and hearing all of the things he’s done to it is honestly mind blowing. Takes some serious dedication to go and try something you’ve never done.
I’ve been following him for like almost 2 years and it’s insane to see how this car came out. Great work!!
He should put on a plexiglass rear window held in with hood pins
It’s kinda sad realizing he’s the same age as me, yet he’s accomplished so much. Definitely a motivation for me to get off my ass lol
Nah dude, I'm 37 and my project car is still not done, let alone anywhere near his build. And I can only be happy for him. :)
You're 21 dude! lets go!
Truly an impressive piece of work in this dude's portfolio. You can see the joy in him when he talks about how he set up the shifter or getting a CnC machine.
Bet this thing is going to transition to an amazing racecar when he's ready. My hope is with his engineering, that he races this car and it serves to bring him higher up the ranks in life.
My burnt out mid-30something self that used to build honestly sees this as an inspiration. I was born into all things aviation & auto, lived in junkyards & shops at his age, and old trama & mental shit left me unable to stay in the community & industry with who I was around. But I miss the art aspect of all this, that I never got to fully realize.
Edit: if you don’t like this and/or didn’t hit the like button, ask yourself why, realize these type person is what we need to continue.
From the driftgames boys finding him random af, to this spotlight, what a legend. I defended him against someone stating, must have time and money….I was like how dare you. He has what I had, nothing, and he made something incredible. Keep it up youngster, you’ve taught me a lot, your parents are legends and prove support is key to proper development, not money.
When someone says built by 21 yo I just think built by financial stability and generational wealth. Show me some 30 year old no college degree building something and I'll look at it grass roots. Too many people have a head start nowadays
The kid can't help the family he was born into but he can at least acknowledge his extreme luck. So odd how most of the comments are riding the dude.
Pleasure seeing you both out there this year again. Congrats on the projects!
What an awesome story. Teaching family to work hard and sacrifice for what they want to achieve in life.
I'm not buying ANY of this story, that guy looks way older than 21 years old, and I highly doubt he "built" all of that stuff, its been bought by fabricators and this car is a hell of a lot more money than 15,000 dollars or whatever bullshit has been peddled. Looks like a trust fund build to me, being sponsored by the family money, very similar to what we've seen on other channels like WhistlinDiesel, just some young guy coming out of nowhere with some insane money to their name and no explanation of where its all coming from.
Hell of a car, so nice to see that this type of art will be around for generations to come
Parent of the year award! Grandfather of the century award!
The fact that this is the guys first car is amazing. The amound of work and hours into this is insane. He likes cars but obvi the way he thinks in terms of engineering is the real gem here. Not many people could think the way he does to figure all this out.
Truly gifted young man driven by that passion of all the STEM fields as play over a short period of time. Amazing project.
This guy is so freakin' awesome. Well done, Cameron. Thanks for the inspiration and enthusiasm!
This boys got MAD SKILLS ! That FRS is off the hook. It looks like it holds the road like a magnet on steel.
Those headers and wheels are sick. FRS to the total EXTREME..
The whole thing just
blows my mind.🤯
So badass!! The passion this kid has and the support from his mom and family, epic ❤!!
I just now watched this mini-documentary & can only say WOW!! My hat is off to this young man & his family of supporters who helped him along his quest to build his vision. Wishing you all the best 👍
Too bad RUclips came along so late... In '79 I had built a sick RX2 with my own headers I built (over and over since I'd removed the Thermal reducer) and after a widebody done by me with adapted 510 flares a heat gun rivets and bodywork, I had 9" spacers in the wheels, slammed it made my own roll bar at the muffler shop, where the old guys were so impressed that a kid at 16 could do all this, then I painted it bright orange with a2' wide yellow stripe down the middle. I would challenge anybody and I ALWAYS WON. Tacking 13 grand in first while others had already shifted, then laying a nice patch as I dumped the clutch I'd just replaced, I could have taken many pinks. Now I dabble in Lambos and freak my wife out too.
Soo cool see mum being proud of her son.
Wish all you the best future.
Cheers from Sweden
I am so stoked to hear a young person beinvolved in car modification and building. He is confident, intelligent, and has great family support. Cheers to him and his family.
I wouldn't do a back window, I would do a carbon fiber louver panel.
Nice inspiration for the younger builders. His story of self taught welding and fabrication skills are amazing 👏. Don't let his age fool you. Years ahead alot of his peers and even veterans builders. Good luck 👍 💓 man.
Cool car. Cool kid. Cool mother.
Love his vision coming to life. Hearing him explain his journey to this point gives me hope that the passion he has will bring more of his artistic touch to the world. My hat is off to this young man. Impressive!
