    I've had stones stuck in the trip mechanism in the stuffer chamber that controls the flake size. My 331 is a rotocut, pull knife drawer out and reach up inside the stuffer chamber. There are recesses in the bottom where the trip is. Small stones just float in there and mess up flake size and density. Some bales are good, some ok, some not so good. Worth a look. Has happened to me about a half dozen times. Good luck!!

    Cazenovia Equipment has an L331 on the lot. Might be worth demoing.

    It looks like the slice isn't getting to the top of the bale chamber. I had that problem on a New Holland and a Case baler what I found was when the stuffer was on the factory timing marks the plunger would start across the opening before the fork was the whole way to the top. Once I changed the timing so that the tip of the plunger knife was at the edge of the opening when the fork was at the top they made a perfect bale. If you change the stuffer timing you need to change the knottier timing. I have also had the problem of having stones getting stuck in the trip mechanism preventing it from resetting that should be easy to tell because the fork will keep going when no crop is being fed into the baler. I don't think that is your problem because in straw you should be able to drive fast enough to get a two inch slice every plunger stroke it wouldn't affect the bale shape unless the slice was one inch or less. If you have any other questions you can pm me and I can give you my number.

    Man that old Deere can punch it out, it's a shame about parts for it would krone parts interchange?

    There might be internal leakage of cylinders or material buildup inside of the fixed chamber.

      Dylan Barber we cleaned the chamber out and did check cylinders, they aren't building hear and hold after you shut the PTO oof the baler off.

    Do you guys sell all that straw or use it for heifer and calf bedding or something else? Down my way straw bales bring a good price. In the 1st shot there's a McDonald's and you said you're in Lafayette if my memory serves right thats right by the rte 20 exit off 81.

      Jim Civitello yeah we bed with it and yes that's right where we were in this field right by route 81 in front of McDonald's

    I’ve run big squares for a wile now doing mulch hay and straw looks like the stiffer is out of time it needs a new chain and the straw this year here has been stupid dry so in some places I had to close the bands down do get that flake tighter

    • @bigbobcob8716
      @bigbobcob8716 6 лет назад

      Actually one other thing that I’ve seen but you might not notice in straw is the spacing on the plunger knifes if somthing went throu and bent or moved somthing it can throu the load sencers off for some reason

    When you get the straw back home, do you just raise the hoist or take it off bale by bale? Thanks!

    I just got a JD 100 still learning but a hay eating machine. What pressure do u run yours at?

    • @FarmingFixingFabricating
      @FarmingFixingFabricating  6 лет назад

      charles ortego jered said he had it running at 2000 psi on the straw. Just be careful, you would be better to make a less dense bale and get a lot more years out of your plunger than making it Bale dense cinder block balls. Pressure really gonna depends on the material. That straw we were baling was real slippery.

    What is the tank on top of the baler for

    • @FarmingFixingFabricating
      @FarmingFixingFabricating  6 лет назад

      David Schmidt preservative tank,the John Deere has one on it as well. It's yellow and it's underneath the baler in the back.

      I remember my uncle's son in law tried a preservative back in the early 70's and you could bale some pretty high moisture hay but with it being small bales it took a lot to handle the bales since they probably weighed a hundred pounds or more!

    Is the JD 100 pretty reliable? I was told that they do not make parts for the Deere 100. Would a 7330 handle the 100 Deere?

    • @FarmingFixingFabricating
      @FarmingFixingFabricating  6 лет назад

      Smalltown Farmer88 yes pretty good and reliable, I kinda started that parts aren't readily and that might not be entirely correct it is the same for the most part as a Krone 8080.i would talk to a Krone dealer if I were you and check on that. A 7330 would be a pretty good match for it, I've seen guys run then with a 4450. They are a heavy baler but not as heavy as some of the others.

    • @Theblindfarmer
      @Theblindfarmer 6 лет назад

      Andrew Hourigan according to Deere they don’t make the parts but that doesn’t mean a after market company doesn’t
