Just bought this a couple days ago. It works fine but the remote doesn't include the color buttons (red, green, blue and yellow) that I find very useful to navigate apps such as SmartIPTV. I tried some phone apps box/tv remotes but they're all full of annoying adds and pop ups. Not really, it's a decent system but realistically it's underpowered and doesn't have enough RAM. For the money I really recommend going with a Roku box over this

Thanks for great clip! I bought Mi box S three days ago, updated system to version 9, and everything is ok! But, I can't figure out one thing: when I want to setup display resolution, only 720p and 1080p are displayed. Neither of them suits to my 1680x1050 PC monitor. Home screen is somehow "edgy" , because of that. I didn't mention, that i'm using hdmi switch with three hdmi ins and one hdmi out. How to solve that? You can connect it to any WiFi if that's what you mean. It'll also work with the Spectrum TV Apps. But as far as like eliminating a Spectrum TV Cable Box, no, this won't do that.

Try setting it up on the device itself, not through your phone or tablet. To me it sounds like you're device is having an issue connecting to your Wi-Fi in the first place
Hmm, that shouldn't be a fiber issue, but I am still on cable not fiber. But that being said I am sure your fiber is a good bit faster than my cable so you might want to do a factory data reset to start fresh and see if you can get the issue straightened out.
Not a dumb question at all. I don't remember the exact layout o the menu but I believe if you go to "Storage" in the meu, there may be a reset option there. I think that's where it is.

It depends really, there are more dedicated apps for Android TV than specific smart TV's. I know I have a Vizio and Samsung Smart TV and I use this over the on-board apps.

I feel cheated by purchasing this MI4k tv box because it is not allowing pre loaded content of external hard drive, it is asking to format. The product is also not as such good quality overall.
You need to use File Explorer ES to navigate to sideloaded content. It will always ask if you want to format a drive plugged in and use it as an internal storage location, that's baked into Android TV.

@@neeljain3233 You need to install a file explorer on the device. You could try Plex and see if that would run it locally, I don't remember if it does or not.
I would have to dig this out and find a file in that codec to be able to test. I have no idea where I have it stored at this point nor if I have any HEVC files at this time.

This could be a one-off issue, it's hard to say. I know I have been not thrilled with mine, but it works okay. When I can, however, I use my Roku a hell of a lot more than this
Check your resolution settings on the box, if you force too high of a resolution that's not supported it won't display. Also, if you plug something else into that HDMI port does it work?

The higher the refresh rate the smoother a moving picture will be. You should definitely go for the 60hz as soon as is supported by your screen.

I don't think it will recognize that out-of-spec aspect ratio. It's designed for TVs, not computer monitors.

I'd start with uninstalling all Google Play updates and reinstall them. if that doesn't work I'd try a factory reset

You would change the inputs on your TV or use Plex or the Live Channels app to access locals with an HD Homerun.

You'll want to map the external drive as "Internal Storage", but once you do that you'll be fine to transfer the files over.

You need to use File Explorer ES to navigate to sideloaded content. It will always ask if you want to format a drive plugged in and use it as an internal storage location, that's baked into Android TV.

@@neeljain3233 You need to install a file explorer on the device. You could try Plex and see if that would run it locally, I don't remember if it does or not.

Every indication is that it will, but anything with that codec I don't run locally off the unit, I pass through my Plex Server

This could be a one-off issue, it's hard to say. I know I have been not thrilled with mine, but it works okay. When I can, however, I use my Roku a hell of a lot more than this

Check your resolution settings on the box, if you force too high of a resolution that's not supported it won't display. Also, if you plug something else into that HDMI port does it work?
