Spotting KMEM: FedEx Madness PT.3 Afternoon Rush Hour

- After a very nice couple of days in Martin, TN. We arrive back in Memphis for one final shooting. This is of the afternoon rush which was between about 2:30 to 5pm. I noticed they were using the 16s again and instead of setting up shop at the cell pone lot again we went in search of another location. So we were driving by when I noticed another family watching the planes so we joined them and they informed me that this was a public viewing location. Not as many flights and they were using only 3 runways this time. Manage to get lucky and score a 777F close up and an awesome 673/77L double departure and my first C-17 ever!

I live in Memphis and it's awesome to see around 3 or 4 in the afternoon riding on 240 the FedEx planes just leave one right after another. They must use 3 runways because I see 3 at a time take off. It' s really great watching this go on!

I use to take my children to that location on Airways Blvd across the street from the airport and we watched the planes takeoff. Great location and view of the runways

MD11, as the MD10-30s are nearly gone but ok I agree the acoustics are actually recognizable.

As well as the DC-10s it's rare but Memphis is a great place to see DC-10's still flying

I live in Memphis and i love FedEx because they still operate my favorite aircraft the MD-11 it's a shame the last passenger variets we're retired but it was a failure to Passenger airliners but a big success to Frieghters
Those B757s has got power!! Their time to V1 is quite short.
The 757 has always been known to have FAR more powerful engines than the size and weight of the airplane would require

You ought to see one from the ramp around one of them on foot, the diameter of the engine cowling is the same diameter of a B737 fuselage! No Joke.

Lol thanks Frank! This was nearly 10years ago while traveling with my fam. So making it a high budget film wasn’t my main priority. Just enjoying the awesome fedex rush hour ops. Thanks for the view!
