I've cleaned tons of premium mousepads and tested many methods. This is BY FAR the best method I've found, and gets the pad very clean without damaging the surface. This is ONLY for non-rgb mousepads. RGB pads can get damaged when wet since they have electronics, but this method is great for purely cloth style pads.

You would hate to see me wash my saturn pro every 6-8 months. Last time I washed it, it took me 3,5 - 4 hours to clean and the water was running for most of the time, definitely for a few hours straight at least. I take a " deep clean " a bit too seriously but I been happy with the results. Especially considering I only wash my mousepad once every 6-8 months like I said in the beginning. Keep in mind that 4 hours it took was just the cleaning process. Drying it properly took another two hours almost, and then on top of that I had to wait like 6 hours for it to completely air dry. I can say that it felt exactly the same as when I bought it, and looked the same way too. I don't recommend anybody to do it my way tho. a 10 min cleaning, a few mins of drying it with a towel and then letting it air dry for at least 6 hours is more than enough, I just like to do it in a bit more extreme way I guess I could say.

If you notice that the mousepad has stubborn patches of dead skin, you can use a toothbrush on those areas to agitate the dirt. I found that a sponge may not apply enough pressure to properly agitate stuck dirt.

This seems straight-forward enough, but I'm curious if some other things like "car interior detailer" spray may work for this as well? (Turtle Wax seems to have one intended for both fabrics and plastics, that I've used on cloth chairs with little issue.) Just wondering if there's a more "dry" approach to cleaning the pad, since it seems like the foam rubber on the bottom takes a very long time to dry out. The main worry is whether or not the cleaning product will either attack the rubber or the adhesive that binds the top fabric to the rubber backing.

Dish soap is going to be perfectly safe for the rubber matting on the bottom of the pad, and is extremely unlikely to be harsh enough to have any impact on the glue between the two parts particularly in such small quantities. Any car detailing cleaning supplies that are designed to work on the carpeted interior of your car would be perfect for this application, particularly if they are made to work on carpeted floor mats. That is going to be a good option for folks that have desk mats with LED edge lighting that cannot be safely submerged in water like this without risk to water getting into places you don't want it.

i more so had the question if the methods is safe for coated pads and for the newer style poronpads, since both of these qualities seem more susceptible to damage

I seriously dont understand why there are so many comments about how long his water is running. This is only a 7 minute video and the water is running for maybe a total of 3 minutes thru the whole video. I'm more concerned about how long you guys take a shower for because I promise, you taking a shower for 3 minutes uses so much more water than letting the sink run for 3 minutes. So what is the real problem here? Are your parents that toxic or is water that limited in your country? because in America the water is recycled and reused and costs close to nothing so there is no need to worry about how long you are running the water for. I take 30 minute showers almost every week like wtf are you all so worried about? the water is not going into the ground and being wasted it gets cleaned and reused again and again.

In some cultures, eating cats and dogs is considered normal, but in places where it isn't, people may be upset by it. Similarly, in many parts of the world, conserving water is crucial. This is why people from these regions might get frustrated if they see water being wasted. It’s understandable that they might be concerned if they notice someone leaving the water running, but it's important to recognize that their reaction is not meant to be threatening. Yes, taking a long shower does use more water, but it’s not like the water is being wasted without purpose. So, let’s try to understand their perspective and approach the situation with empathy.

I would suggest to use shampoo instead of dishwash liquid as the dishwash cna be bit harsh and damage the cloth fabric of mousepad.

Shampoo has oils and stuff made to cling to your hair, that's even worse than dishwash soap. A gentle detergent is best but a gentle dish soap is second to best.
