    Here's your first full hands-on look at the Elite Suito smart trainer, which includes a cassette for $799 - the lowest out there. But how does it really stack up against the Wahoo KICKR CORE, Tacx Flux and others? I dig into all the details from the thru-axle compatibility to the sound levels, plus the ANT+ & Bluetooth Smart specs. Not to mention the free Zwift membership included in it. Lastly, I dive into the accuracy of the power and cadence metrics.
    Also, hit up the link above for more ERG mode details that I couldn't quite fit into the video. Enjoy!

    Nice review. My user experience turned out to be very similar. For structural training, Suito is very capable and resistance kicks in very smoothly as opposed to Tacx Neo 2. For ride feel, it’s good but nowhere near the Neo 2 level. Riding on Suito feels too “heavy”.
    Suito does have native thru-axle support which works well with my 2018 BMC Roadmachine. I have to bodge it with Neo 2. I heard 2t improved on thru-axle support. That’s really a good news as that’s the only real complaint I have with Neo 2.
    Overall, I am satisfied with Suito.

I have tried FTP Zwift test with no issues. I have tested Suito with Zwift on Apple TV, iPhone, Mac, everything works OK, pairing is very quickly. What does make some troubles is calibration, sometimes I had to repeat it several times. Best way to have success calibration was increase speed higher, than by Zwift app requested 37km/h. Btw, it is my firt smart trainer. I did not have any oil in neither of units packs.

    Very interesting, thanx for your review! Been looking into smart trainers since last year. This might be the one i'll get myself for this winter ☺
    One question though: it looks like there is a lot of lateral movement in/around the axle (see ~1:00 and 6:47). Do you consider this normal and how does the Suito compare to other trainers in this point?

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  5 лет назад +11

      The lateral movement best I can tell is actually the unit going side to side, which is generally a good thing (for the bike and the rider). Pretty normal, some trainers are stiffer than others, but this seems like the right amount.

    Unfortunately Elite still haven't corrected their power accuracy issues and it's all over the internet (TrainerRoad, Zwift, Elite forums, etc.) people reporting that Elite Suito gives you about 15%-20% lower power numbers. In my own analysis of Elite Suito vs Favero Assioma Uno power readings, I got around 12% lower at 227w/254w; 15% lower at 265w/304w; and 27% lower at 313w/400w (EliteSuito watts / AssiomaFaveroUno watts). This was today, 20th of May 2023. Yes my Elite was calibrated as well as the favero and no there were no updates from Elite software/firmware. Sad really. It's a really good trainer though. Just really really under reports the watts. Take that into account.

    • @Frog-ve4kf

      Could you counter this by connecting a power meter to say Zwift? Is then the power counted correctly during workouts on Zwift or some other app?

    • @MiguelAugusto1982
      @MiguelAugusto1982 Год назад

      @@Frog-ve4kf I could. I tried it using TrainerRoad only, comparing with favero's power. I used Zwift and MyWhoosh in the past and didn't notice much difference from TrainerRoad's presented power from Elite suito. If I find the time I can try to do the same analysis in Zwift, MyWhoosh and/or others, but I doubt I muster the motivation to do that. It's best for me to keep the same power tool indoor and outdoor.

    • @sethaandewiel923

      I had this problem too, if you message Elite they can fix this for you. It requires you to test the suito against a power meter and they can calibrate this to the power meter as a control. Makes the trainer work properly, but should work like this out of the box really.

    I just got the Suito, and the ERG mode does some strange things: When I did my ramp test, it held the wattage pretty nicely, but where it should do 350w, it suddenly started giving me 400w. Also in some interval sessions, it gave me way less that it should. Any idea why that could be? I use trainerroad and use the and also have my assioma duos connected. as far as i know, kicker core flywheel weight is not 7kg, that is for the expensive kickr, the core has 5,4kg i believe, still more then this one of 3kg and something, but yes, for the price very good on this suito. I wonder if wahoo gonna lower the price eventually, this unit price quality is very good i think.

    I just unboxed my retail unit. It came ahead of global release. There was no lubricant to be found anywhere in the box or on the cassette. Not a big deal. I suppose mixing lubes isn't smart anyways. Suppose your chain is already oiled.

  • @washrooms

    My 2020 suito arrived Saturday and out of the box there is a loose rattling sound. Sounds more like a bearing ball or screw settling at bottom. I hear it when you tap trainer or move it. I did mount bike and calibrated it to see if flywheel made some noise but seems to be working fine. I do notice trainer is louder than expected but could be chain oil or that it is in garage. Little hard to compare to RUclips videos. Still disappointed that I spent all this money to receive an out of box trainer with potential issues.

    Thanks for your review. One question, As the Drivo came out a few years ago, how does this compare? The drivo had a problem with bouncing power in erg mode, which has never been solved, Has that been solved on this model?

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  5 лет назад

      The ERG mode if faster/better here, it it’s going to be extremely difficult to beat the accuracy of that unit - arguably the best out there.

    • @singingitman
      @singingitman 5 лет назад

      @@Dcrainmaker Many Thanks, I have the Drivo, picked it up new for £600 UK 12 months ago, I thought better than a wheel on trainer for the same money. I just find in erg mode it can take between 15 and 30 Seconds to settle down on power changes. I found the default smoothing power value was 2, and that level power was all over the place, changing that to 6 improved it greatly but it still takes time to settle, 20 second intervals are out of the question.

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  5 лет назад +3

      One pro tip though: Be sure to put your bike in the smaller ring in the front for ERG mode. This is true for all trainers, as it helps control the speed which in turn minimizes the oscillating.

    Two questions - 1). Will it replace the DIRETO? What's the point of offering 2 similar trainers? 2). Is this the in essence the ZUMO which as far as I can remember was announced last year but never made it to the shelves? (It has a square design and the Zumo had a round design but the features look the same)

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  5 лет назад +1

      I don't expect it to replace the Direto as-is, as the Direto still has OTS (Optical Torque Sensor aka power meter). For Zumo, this does kinda replace that. That product did technically release, though it did so as Performance Bike/Nashbar went under in the US (it was only picked up by a handful of retailers). Some units have ended up in emerging markets for now, but I wouldn't expect to see Zumo re-appear at this point. There were lessons learned from Zumo though that ended up here.

      It doesn’t appear you actually watched the video or read the title. It’s not a review, it’s a first impressions the day the product was announced. Changing gearing has nothing to do with a trainer, but your bike and potentially your cassette player installation if you forgot the spacer ring.
