These lessons are fabulous. Anneleen is so softspoken and kind and yet compromises nothing in terms of letting the student know when they're behind, having technical issues, etc. Just shows that you can be gentle and rigorous all at once.

Very insightful and I love how patiently she explained and tried to convey her suggestions! I was noticing my very new harp student twisting her wrist playing ascending notes. Now I understand and can explain why not to do that. Looking forward to seeing Ms. Lenaerts in action in Harptacular event soon!

The student playing the harp has a good teacher (3:50, 9:40); having an instructor like her is vital in order to master the harp!

And yet, American has many superb harpists, far better than Lennaerts. Why on earth would Carnegie Hall have her do a master class?

@@nonenoneonenonenoneFrom a sound projection and musical point of view she really is one of the best if not the best harpist in the world. Listen to her Chaconne, Sarabanda from Rota or Châtelaine, it's really wonderful (and it's among the best version of these works that I know)

So cool to watch this, the harp is probably the instrument I less understand of all orchestra instruments. And it is so beautiful and complex.

It's only so complex when one doesn't have a clear technique and clear understanding.

This piece of music is absolutely fabulous and wonderfully beautiful! The harp is an awesome instrument; I wonder what it would sound like plugged into a 100-watt Marshall stack? Great instructor and student!! Great video; thanks for posting!

I really don't know why I watched this, because I don't even play the harp... And if I was a student, I would hate being watched by lots of people while struggling to do something perfectly.

I see your point. She may have been trained in Celtic harp first possibly. I know by observation through the years when I did Nutcracker as a ballet student we always had different harpists. The Celtic trained one played lightly and the professional orchestra ones played like Anneleen is showing her.

@@TheLampDancerall of us are trained on lever harps first, except the students who randomly spend $10k-$20k on their first harp and have a pedal harp as their first instrument which is not recommended generally because what if you decide that you don't want to play harp.
Anyways but it depends on the tension of the harp, mine is a "Celtic harp" but it's pedal tension, I had my lesson on pedal harp today and it feels fine except the string spacing, that was a bit different, anyways we're all supposed to be trained on lever harps first, it's just that some people progress to pedal harp faster than others

Hopefully she’s listening to his advice now 😥 because she’s so young and so good that’s why she said did it look like I was having a problem.

The inconsistency and excess movement in her poorly developed technique is very limiting.

@@orirune3079no it's actually true, she has poor technique, she twists her wrists a lot which could legitimately lead to injuries, there's lots of inconsistencies, today my teacher talked about it when I had my lesson and she commented on her really poor technique and urged me to keep up with my technique because it'll help a lot in the long run.
But honestly she can be an amazing harpist after correcting all these issues
