The power of my hands is my hobby," David Shamey told IronMind and to show how serious and accomplished he is, Shamney has just been certified on both the Captains of Crush (CoC) No. 3 and the Captains of Crush No. 3.5 grippers. 22-year old David Shamey says he doesn’t have a formal gripper training routine: "I close them when I want and how much I want." Shamey has been training on grippers for six years, saying, "CoC grippers were recommended to me to develop fingers for armwrestling. Congratulations, David Shamey: your name has been added to the certification list for the Captains of Crush No. 3 gripper and to the certification list for the Captains of Crush No. 3.5 gripper.

Congratulations, bro. I remember having a difficult time with #1. On a good day, I can do #2 x 3 on both hands, so I went ahead and got the #2.5. After a few isometric attempts with an inch gap (haha), the #2 feels much easier afterwards. To be certified on #3 would be awesome.

Dave, in my opinion, you are of the two best gripper specialists in the whole world. He is either trolling or is so misinformed and deluded that he may think a 190 equals the calibration given by the companies. Likely he has a heavy grips 200 on the table, mashes it, and thinks hes world class beating guys in the ironmind spotlight. When you have worlds strongest man competitors who train grip get stumped by a 3.5 then you know for a fact that it is a crazy strength feat. Especially from a credit card set commanded close which is a whole level above a standard close. Its an art. You have the magic touch with these tools. Maybe 20 guys on earth can card set low 180s rgc gripper.

I train once a week/once in 5 days. I go heavy and hard 5s on 1.5 for example. I closed the 2 in a month of training (4 sessions). Sometimes I also did trainer 20 reps 4 sets. 1 for 10 reps 4 sets and call it quits. You need to mix hypertrophy with strength same for powerlifting. After the more rep training next week you do heavy training killing it with 1.5x5 reps 5 sets and maybe even holds for 3 sec on the 1/1.5 (like 5 reps 3/4 sets). Most important is: stay healthy. Because injury will Fuck your progress. Tldr just fuck arround and not train heavy all the time. Dont go for high reps. Try your challenge gripper once a month.

8acun This is totally out of my ass, but let’s say the training it takes to get certified under official conditions for the CoC #3 might be similar to obtaining a 600 pound deadlift. It’s doable with lots of training. The #3.5 might be close to the training it takes to reach an 800 pound deadlift. This is a huge jump, and it’s not necessarily going to be ever doable for someone. The #4 is is ridiculous. No one has certified on it since they added the new rules of closing it with a credit card set. You would have to put in the training for your grip it would take to deadlift over 1,000 pounds. I might not be quite accurate, but this seems to hold true.

Cool yep big hands help. But people with smaller hands have closed 3.5s and the might CoC#4( depends on the strength of the 4 also). I have good hands for grip strength and my hands are a decent 22.5 or 8.8 -8.9 inch. So I hope to reach that lvl or go beyond it. I would love to one day be able to no set crush the #4s and ghp 8, ghp9 and the so far uncloseable ghp 10 with rgc ratings of 250-300lbs

Captains Of Crush Grippers: What They Are And How To Close Them.
