Annie's laughing at the misfortune she's been dealt with. Having to kill comrades, being a disposable failure of a warrior, and to also be targeted by the only people she considered her family. She's laughing because she wants to cry but it's just funny to her.
Yep, it's a 'the world hates me' laugh born out of the cosmic irony of her situation. Her amusement toes the line between comedy and tragedy, e.g.- "I used to think my life was a tragedy, but now I realize it's a comedy." Her arc is pretty tragic when you stop to think about it.
After finishing the series I FINALLY understand Annie’s laugh. For the longest time I felt like this was such a weird, random moment for her character until I realized…. She was abandoned by her birth parents and thrown into what was essentially a concentration camp. The man who adopted and raised her made it perfectly clear as she was growing up that he only took her in so he could become an honorary Marlyean. That her purpose was to become a candidate, be sent off to a foreign land where she could potentially die, and even if she survived her life would end 13 years after inheriting a titan power. Then, after clearly making peace with all this and adopting complete apathy to cope with the cruelty of it all…her adopted father shows humility for the first time, falls to his knees, weeps, admits he loves her like a daughter and wishes he had never sent her to become a candidate. For the first time in her life, she had been shown paternal affection and immediately is sent off to Paradis. Then she befriends the “devils of Paradis,” carrying the guilt of slaughtering so many of the scouts. But for the first time in her life, she has friends and a sense of family. Then Armin figures out what she is, and she knows she’s just lost every person she considered a friend. Annie’s life has been nothing but one cruel irony after another, to the point it’s almost comical just how ridiculous it is. When your life is a complete joke, all you can do is laugh to keep from crying.

Annie could also crystallize herself like Lara Tybur, so if for some reason she ran out of energy to turn back into the female titan, the crystallization was there as a precaution.

Maybe she laughed at the notion of Mikasa threatening her while she nearly died in the Titan Forest had Levi not saved her from being swatted, and in the following fight in Stohess, Mikasa got knocked out twice. TWICE. Now that's funny. Imagine threatening someone you can't take down. Haha It was Levi who tear her apart in the forest. Annie wasn't even fighting her, she was trying to run because she already captured Eren. Kidding aside, she laughed because she no longer have to hide anything.
This is still one of the best scenes in the show. The music alone gives me chills every single time, and Annie’s laugh is just perfection. I hadn’t read the manga so I went into the show knowing nothing, and even though I started to think she was sus, both her and the Female Titan had blonde hair was my biggest suspicion, was still kinda blown away by the reveal and how well it was done.

Yeah that music with the dialogue and how annie transforms it's just too epic. One of millions of scenes in the series! Im here after completing the whole saga and to me AOT is currently the best anime of all time! Really hard act to follow.

Given his policy of "a good person is one who is convenient for you personally" and the principle of "gray morality", it is not surprising that he is broken. Partly this is facilitated by the rejection of Annie as an enemy and the refusal to see her as a monster, although it would seem that everything is obvious. Armin's "Let's talk" is present throughout all seasons, and even in this episode.

I came back to AoT a few years later and I suddenly realized why Annie has that wierd blush when her cover was blown. My opinion? Bro I was watching this scene on apple tv.... They fucked up the translation! It is very important that Annie says that "she failed to become a warrior" rather then "solider" like they did in the apple tv version, because the difference between "warrior" and "solider" is extremely important. Warrior is for the enemy titan shifters, they are warriors. The soldiers are they gys fighting on Eren's side.This is expetioally important in season 2 with Rieners split personality, him switching between his "soldier" and "warrior" personality. Why did apple tv fuck up the translations so bad? I bought season 1 a couple years ago, I don't remember it having this issue...
Guessed it like 5 epísodes before it was confirmed. At least to me it was kind of obvious, specially after the moves she had in the forest while fighting Eren, i was thinking "damn if shes annie there's just no way shes gonna lose a 1v1 to eren" and i was right.

It is very important that Annie says that "she failed to become a warrior" rather then "solider" like they did in the apple tv version, because the difference between "warrior" and "solider" is extremely important. Warrior is for the enemy titan shifters, they are warriors. The soldiers are they gys fighting on Eren's side.This is expetioally important in season 2 with Rieners split personality, him switching between his "soldier" and "warrior" personality.
Why did apple tv fuck up the translations so bad? I bought season 1 a couple years ago, I don't remember it having this issue...
