@@heyamariion your next “good” playthrough in this game, don’t kill off the necromancer before heading to Shar’s realm to save Nightsong. It’s a slightly better story with more background information and a different fight.
Agree. I particulary love the Dark Urge which i feel has the biggest main character vibes from all origins, in fact you can only play with a Dark Urge char but not have them as companion. Anyway Nightsong sequence was epic.

This scene is a lesson about how you should trust people you love and not try to manipulate them. Many players think that their companions are just pawns but in this game they are more than that. In the temple of Shar i let Shadowheart do the trials alone because i was sure she could success and then i let her lead the party to Nightsong just being in the background to support her in her choices.
Loved the foreshadowing when we explore the Shar Ruins back in Act 1. Found a letter where someone writes how they made a deal with the Devil to rid themselves of the Dark Justiciars. Then the archeologist dude mentioning something big and from the hells rampaging through the halls
I've seen the cutscene after freeing the Nightsong a few times now, and it's _still_ amazing. IMO watching her transform back into her asimar form is just as good as the crazy dragon chase cinematic that the game opens with. Now I'm ready for the showdown with Kethric! 😤

I was speechless after all that stress and tension right before she threw the spear
The thing that is crazy is how much the nightsong moment feels like it must happen for the story to make sense, but from the Beach by the nautilus you can decide to not have shadowheart in your party.
Shadowhearts background unfolds pretty late in the game but i think its the best of all the background stories on all possible levels. it has everything, all the emotions, epicness and probably since it takes so long to warm her up, the most rewarding.
This is also my favourite moment with any of the characters in the game (sorry Gale, we had a great time too), but WOW! Everything coming together in that moment just unraveled me
Shadowheart actually makes a decision based on how you have acted through your play through. If you have been good, she will throw away the spear herself
Yep! And I love what Larian does with “punishing” the player for trying to force their choice on her decision. Even if she would be inclined to choose the “good” option, Larian make the skill roll very hard so that you will likely fail and cause Shadowheart to take the “bad” option.
I am so blown away, bravo Larian for making this scene REAL. Such an important decision for shadowheart, she wouldn’t throw the spear away just because I say to. It has to come from our relationship and time with her

@cforth2725 same game you say 👀 I love lore, I love mechanics like this that involve strategy and where to place party members, how to balance them for rp and combat. So kind of you to offer the game to me for Christmas 🥹 it’s so kind and in the spirit of the season of giving! Since I’m in the Philippines, gifting games (via Steam) doesn’t seem to work when the gifter is overseas. BUT for Christmas I think I’ll get it and play :)) I’ll most likely put it up on YT because I’m going to struuuuggle lol
Freeing the Nightsong is one of the best moments in the game, and it's got strong competition! One detail I think you'll appreciate: if you have a good relationship with Shadowheart, she won't kill the Nightsong even if you say nothing. You actually have to tell her to do it in that case.
If you have difficulty targeting a specific thing like when you didn't want to shoot the spiritual weapon you can actually click on the enemy portrait on top in the turn order to make sure you're locked on to the target you want. It can also be very helpful when you're trying to target an enemy with a ranged attack but it only works if you click on a specific part of their body that isn't obstructed
It’s interesting that your playthrough of Shadowheart prayer dialogue before entering Shar’s realm to confront the Nightsong is different than my playthrough. I had Shadowheart at 100 approval, though. 🤔
I’ve been wanting to finally play that game! When I first tried it my game was soooo bugged I couldn’t play it anymore lol but so many people are telling me it’s all fixed now
@@heyamarii It is amazing now! I loved it at launch it wasn't buggy for me guess i got lucky. They fixed alot of issues it had, still not perfect but much , much better!
Thank you for this suggestion! I was considering going to do this because of my curiosity with that one second moment Jaheira was seen looking towards her daggers.
This was such a powerful moment with Shadowheart. Glad it went well for you. It even would have worked if you just let her do her own thing on the first option because of your actions so far in the game, what you did and how you treated her. And you did well not trying to force her through persuasion rolls. That might have backfired actually, glad you let her do the right thing on her own in the end :) I do think this shows how brilliant the game design actually it is. Not only it tells a compelling story, is well written and even moreso voiced, it also treats the NPC as a real person, and not just a vessel you force your opinon on. This final event with Shadowheart and anything that leads up to it should be a case study how to do NPC companions right in games. If you continue, Astarion story will be similar powerful in act 3, as well as Shadowhearts conclusions on dealing with Shar.
This is my favourite moment in the entire game! I was so speechless, I had goosebumps running up my back, I felt emotional. So much sweating and tension right up to the moment she threw the spear, and then a wave of relief. I can still picture that moment and that feeling so clearly. That music swelling while the Nightsong transformed back into her Aasimar form was breathtaking! I still can’t put into words the intense feelings I had. Larian deserves all the praise and awards for this scene. The build up to this moment was like 70-80 hours long, and that descent down to the Nightsong just made it that much more epic. I didn’t realise the outcome of this was tied to my relationship with Shadowheart, so PHEW I’m glad I’ve been trying to fix her.
27:50 "What happened with Gale? Why didn't he get a turn?" Gale did have a turn. He used Thunderwave at 26:20. 28:30 "I didn't realize that I skipped Gale's turn." You didn't.
I've tried both Nightsong options. If Shadowheart goes over to the dark side, she gets some nice justiciar armor and weapon, but the downside is just too great. Since Last Light Inn is protected by a Selunite (Isobel), if Shar gains power, you can kind of guess what will happen. However, if Shadowheart embraces Shar, the "Lift the Shadow Curse" quest will still be active. Still, I think you made the right choice, and that was the choice I ended up making too. I maxed out Shadowheart's approval number (100), and I thought that was why she made the choice I desired; but maybe not.
@@dimitriig It's nice, but at this stage of the game, I have to start thinking about boss-killers, not better ways to kill minions. There are so many ways to kill minions already. The illithid power that makes a creature vulnerable to all damage types for 3 turns -- now that's truly OP, even against bosses.
As sad as it will be to do this, I need to see what happens next time when Shadowheart embraces Shar instead. I can’t wait to see how different the outcome will be
Regarding Raphael's old enemy, I had to flee, come back, and sneak attack him. That made him "surprised" and lose a turn, and he couldn't cast Invisibility. Then I used the illithid power that made him vulnerable to all damages, and killed him in one turn (his 160 HP was not that high at this stage of the game). That was easier said than done, of course, mostly depending on dice rolls.
Woah I keep forgetting about the tadpole because I chose not to use it this run! Lol I can’t wait for the next playthrough with those illithid powers. It will be like a whole new game to me again
33:32 Rat dialogue. It all sounds like stuff Shar worshippers might say. I mean, they're gathered around altars and holy sites and keep calling you unworthy to be here, right? Maybe they are some of the lost justiciars transformed somehow into rats? Also, in retrospect, that Latin gibberish near the entrance said something about an army came to remove (something? someone?) and now they remains here - could it be mentioning that an army of justiciars remain here, perhaps as rats? I cleaned this place out and talked to a bunch of them, never found one that had much to say, never figured out what is the deal with them. I never actually attacked them. I wonder if they turn into justiciars if they get attacked? That one that said "i've got more guts than you'd expect. A lot more." Reminds me of what the strange ox said - it said almost those same words if you asked it if it worried about goblins attacking it. And we know what that ox turned out to be, so maybe the rats "have more guts" because they're really not rats.
i too have the suspicion that raphaels contract is not yet fullfilled because those rats may be dark justiciars. iam still on my second playthrough and i intent to clean this entire place of all rats and see if that fullfills the contract and frees the demon. i killed one group of rats, but nothing happend, but there is more than one group.
The Dark Justiciars make sense! I feel the same way as you regarding the ox, they speak with similar suspicious diction. But the big mystery is who made them this way? I wonder if there’s a way to undo their transformation and see their true form.
@@heyamarii I dunno. I haven't tried any of this so it's not a spoiler; can't spoil what I don't even know. Have you tried Remove Curse? It's a level 3 spell available to Gale and Shadowheart, I think. Polymorph ends when the victim dies, so kill one and see if the corpse is a human or rat. Probably not though, you had a Rat help you in your last big fight at 1:21:30 and it died at 1:21:48 without, it seems, leaving a non-rat corpse. Perhaps cast your own Polymorph on one, then dispel your Polymorph so they revert to their original true form? Theoretically that works, i'd allow it at the table, but I have no idea if BG3 works that way. If nothing else, some rat-sheep running around and bleating would be cute. Maybe there is some spot in here where you learn of the curse and find a way to end it. I surely didn't find anything like that, but who knows?
17:20 "Maybe here. Away from him. Can't I see invisible?" Within 30 feet (10m). So, not too far away from him. I believe that seeing "Saved" float in the air over the invisible enemy is a failure on the developers' part. If it is invisible, then we shouldn't benefit from floating text to exploit the game and find it. Not your fault that it happened. I blame the devs for not thinking about it. There is a useful spell that turns all creatures visible in a reasonably large area and gives you advantage when you attack them. Faerie Fire. It's available to bards and druids but not to Gale, it seems. Might want to look into it; this demon is probably not going to be the last invisible enemy you face.
If you didn't fight Balthazar at the Shar temple, he would show up in Shadowfell anyway to fight you. He would bring about 20 undead, but not his big boy. So it would be a (much) easier fight with Turn Undead, and with many chances to shove them down the chasm too.
@@heyamarii If you promise Balthazar you will look for the Nightsong he'll give you a bell to summon Flesh. I used Flesh in the fight against Yurgir and got him killed (maybe a little bit on purpose, ahem). It made killing Balthazar in his room almost trivial.
Funnily enough, I saw a version in which if you throw the spear away in the abyss before getting into a cutscene with Nightsong, Shar will shout at Shadowheart and call her stupid lol. Like it was hilarious and Shadowheart was freaking confused at what she did. I actually don't know how that scene would end because I've only seen that part and I'm too far out in the game to go back to see it just for that scene. Maybe it defaults to Nightsong being saved? Or perhaps the spear would reappear again in Shadowhearts hand?
It looks like she doesn't want you, otherwise she would have confessed her love to you at the end and asked if you felt it too and wanted to be with her with Shadowheart...!!!
The rats are tied to Yurgirs quest. I helped free him from his contract. 😅He has already showed up in camp with helpful information. Think he will also help me kill Raphael when it’s time.
The rats!! I must know what those little critters are up to. They’re so strange lol I can’t wait for the 2nd playthrough to do totally different things
You really can't finish one invinsible general until you have done all you can in the mausoleum but I'll say no more. Long rest, long test Amarii after Balthazar please. Perhaps you could take on a feat to help with the higher lock picking or get the "Knock" spell then you wont need to go and get Astarian each time. Relax and trust Shadowheart
I wonder why you took the "I need you to focus.." option in the last conversation after you showed Shadowheart so much compassion before? It is a rather demanding thing to say and there is a more friendly option available.
To those who have Shadowheart embrace Shar, you can actually pick up Nightsong, send it to camp, and put it next to Shadowheart, if you want to add to the morbidity. The "Send to" option won't show, but you can press Tab and drag Nightsong to someone who is at the camp.
Ah well, you did what I hoped you wouldn't: Interfere between Shadowheart and the Nightsong. I hoped you would choose to trust Shadowheart. Because she would throw the Spear away anyway. I thought you might have liked that outcome even more ;).
2:03:00 Shadowheart really should not be a cleric anymore. Gale (and every mage) learns power and uses his own mind and body and knowledge to bring magic into existence - it's all him. Shadowheart (and every cleric) has no power of her own - she merely channels Shar's power from the goddess to bring magic into existence. Piss off that goddess even a little bit, and they start ignoring her requests for spells. Shadowheart didn't just piss off Shar a little bit. Open defiance and rejection of Shar is more like it. Shar should never grant another spell to Shadowheart. Clerics who want to change from one deity to another are well advised to find the replacement god first. Perhaps Shadowheart has one in mind. But our story so far gives no reason for Shadowheart to expect any deity to give her spells.
@@ragingorange5341 You're not wrong. In my playthrough at least, I never saw or heard Shadowheart actually convert. Maybe I missed something. She changed something, for sure, but it seems purely cosmetic and as far as I can tell at the end of the game, she's still a Shar cleric who betrayed Shar but still gets to be a fully powered cleric anyway. As finicky or downright glitchy as the game is sometimes, I wouldn't put it past the realm of possibility that I just didn't get an important cutscene or something in dialogue that should have advanced that part of her story. Or, maybe, to the developers, betraying her god isn't a reason to lose her powers.
@@blakewalker84120 she does say in one of her dialogues that she now follows Selune, but I agree there should've been a more obvious cutscenes. Also, nothing confirms this as far as I know, (SPOILERS AHEAD IN CASE ANYONE ELSE READS THIS) but I feel like Selune is aware of Shadowheart and how she was stolen from her original fate, so she might've kept her eye on her and welcomed her back the moment she turned from Shar. But I'm no lore expert, I just feel it makes sense given the context.
I was wondering about this too, since clerics channel powers from their deity what’s going to happen now! It’s just so tense in this moment and Shadowheart said how she feels a big part of her missing. I’m not going to read the comment with the spoiler tag (thanks for putting that in! You’re a star). So I’ll find out soon hopefully
I rewatched that moment with Nightsong. This moment: Nightsong: “Your power is great. So too must be your weapon. You must choose what you will wield. And the Moonmaiden will provide. Thus I have said; thus will it be so.” Is this a conversion to Selune? That the Nightsong offered Shadowheart Selune’s weapon of power?
"I fricking fixed you girl". Pssst, no one tell her that she would have shugged the spear into the abyss anyway even if she hadnt said anything to her in this scene xD
Edit: she would not have shugged the spear into the abyss if it weren't for the amazing, epic, and legendary friendship Amarii has shown Shadowheart's lonely soul. 😂😂😂

You have a very beautiful voice, goes along fine with the game
Thank you! I love how immersive this game is
If you have difficulty targeting a specific thing like when you didn't want to shoot the spiritual weapon you can actually click on the enemy portrait on top in the turn order to make sure you're locked on to the target you want.
Same outcome, just less harsh dialogue for me and she tells me that she was communing with Shar.
Oooo I wonder why ours are different. Maybe my approval with her isn’t quite at 100
Bravo bravo with the devil, that is a tough fight with the followers...took me a few tries.
Getting rid of most of his buddies really helped 😂
Your lets plays are great, you're hilarious. I would love to see you play Cyberpunk 2077 with the expansion, seems like a game up your alley!
Before heading to Moonrise tower, take a brief detour at the Last Light Inn. More story is revealed.
Thank you for this suggestion! I was considering going to do this because of my curiosity with that one second moment Jaheira was seen looking towards her daggers.
Gosh this game is just awesome!! I am so in love with it!
I have not played it yet. I know i Will be good and have this beautiful and powerful character have on your side.
You muuuust play this game 🤍 it’s such a gem and the stories are written so beautifully
This was such a powerful moment with Shadowheart. Glad it went well for you. It even would have worked if you just let her do her own thing on the first option because of your actions so far in the game, what you did and how you treated her. And you did well not trying to force her through persuasion rolls. That might have backfired actually, glad you let her do the right thing on her own in the end :)
I do think this shows how brilliant the game design actually it is.
Why didn't he get a turn?"
Gale did have a turn. He used Thunderwave at 26:20.
28:30 "I didn't realize that I skipped Gale's turn."
You didn't.
1:43:36 Oh no! This is where the Mythosaur lives!
I hope Bo-Katan is nearby!
Hahaha
Correction: I actually had Shadowheart embrace Shar. The immediate result was, um, apocalyptic. I'm going through with it to see where it leads.
"some nice justiciar armor and weapon"??? - its OP armor and weapon... you just cast a bliend cloud on the field and free kill all inside..
A lot more."
Reminds me of what the strange ox said - it said almost those same words if you asked it if it worried about goblins attacking it.
Can't I see invisible?"
Within 30 feet (10m).
18:15 Evard's Black Tentacles is really icky looking.
It’s so gross, looking like a pile of oily maggots and worms
If you didn't fight Balthazar at the Shar temple, he would show up in Shadowfell anyway to fight you. He would bring about 20 undead, but not his big boy. So it would be a (much) easier fight with Turn Undead, and with many chances to shove them down the chasm too.
My friend said the same! Fighting Balthazar in that tiny room was a nightmare lol
@@heyamarii If you promise Balthazar you will look for the Nightsong he'll give you a bell to summon Flesh. I used Flesh in the fight against Yurgir and got him killed (maybe a little bit on purpose, ahem). It made killing Balthazar in his room almost trivial.
@ARealityStorm hahaha that seems like the perfect deception for my evil playthrough
Shadowheart’s story was amazing! I didn’t really try to romance anyone else by this point, I think I almost missed the romance for Gale 😂
Seems like you missed an important chest 1:01:40.
It hard to watch when people trying to push Shadowheart but you need to trust her just a litle.
Omg! I did miss that chest! Ahhhh thank you I need to go back for it
You can use a hand crossbows: left and right hands. Occasionally, you'll get a bonus attack.
Oooo I hadn’t considered using 2 hand crossbows! Thank you
The rats are tied to Yurgirs quest. I helped free him from his contract. 😅He has already showed up in camp with helpful information. Think he will also help me kill Raphael when it’s time.
The rats!! I must know what those little critters are up to. They’re so strange lol
I can’t wait for the 2nd playthrough to do totally different things
killing nightsong is such a bad decision it can only be made by telling shart to kill her lol
Selune approuves
No spoilers from me honestly but, my second dark urge run, the long term consequences of killing nightsong was downright horrible to me.
I’ve heard that some evil choices made the game really awful :(
a nat crit 20 works on anything over 20
To those who have Shadowheart embrace Shar, you can actually pick up Nightsong, send it to camp, and put it next to Shadowheart, if you want to add to the morbidity.
I thought you might have liked that outcome even more ;).
call of the dice - strongest curse in the game
There is one that comes to mind, and we just saved her daughter too.
This moment:
Nightsong: “Your power is great. So too must be your weapon. You must choose what you will wield. And the Moonmaiden will provide. Thus I have said; thus will it be so.”
Is this a conversion to Selune? That the Nightsong offered Shadowheart Selune’s weapon of power?
"I fricking fixed you girl".
Pssst, no one tell her that she would have shugged the spear into the abyss anyway even if she hadnt said anything to her in this scene xD
Edit: she would not have shugged the spear into the abyss if it weren't for the amazing, epic, and legendary friendship Amarii has shown Shadowheart's lonely soul.
😂😂😂
@@heyamarii Fair Enough ^^
Hehe
You didnt fixed her. If you do nothing, she still choose this. Give her more credit.
Ever wonder?
If you had a nickel for every empty vase you "looted" (found nothing) in 32 videos, you'd make more $$$ than all your views and likes and subs?
All it takes is one vase to have something 😈 and that with enable my neurotic need to open everything hahaha
This was so intense and stressful! You bring so much life into this game, you make it so real that I was sweating and I though that SH would turn on you but change Her mind at the last second. What a relief! 😂 Now I need to take a shower and relax!
When I feel so immersed in the game I feel soooo much. That moment was the best moment, best feeling, I’ve ever had in a video game. I too needed to have a lie down after haha that was intense!!
The first time I got to this moment, I was sobbing and my jaw was on the floor when the Nightsong transformed. I was so proud of Shadowheart, I just wanted to pick her up and hug her. I've finished the game now and no moment tops this one for me.
