    At 29:22, I believe the white canal boat would score one point for the flipped iron works in Manchester. At least that's the way it would work in Brass Birmingham.

    One of my favourite games! Such a smoother experience compared to Birmingham. I'm glad to see Lancashire getting some love.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  4 года назад +3

      I enjoy Birmingham as well, but I decided I wanted to own just one Brass and went with Lancashire specifically because it has a much lower rules overhead and it's a smoother experience.

    • @dsweet5273
      @dsweet5273 4 года назад

      Shoitaan how is it smoother?

    • @Shoitaan
      @Shoitaan 4 года назад

      @@dsweet5273 beer is a clunky addition to Birmingham that bogs the game without adding much enjoyability. The variable port locations add more replayability but also add negative randomness in that you can be royally screwed from the start. Plus birmingham also has numerous industries where higher tier buildings are worse than lower tier buildings forcing you to build crap or spend time developing.
      None of this unnecessary unfun bloat exists in Lancashire.

    • @dsweet5273
      @dsweet5273 4 года назад +1

      Shoitaan huh... I have never really had any issue with the things you mentioned. Beer feels fine and in fact I felt an extra dimension to the game that felt interesting. Almost all the industry tiles DO get better in terms of Point value. Yes m. Goods and pottery fluctuate... but that just gives you another opportunity to make efficient use of the develop action. Even some industry tiles which seem bad can be used effectively. Like the m.goods tiles that give sub-par rewards but cost no beer and have no link points. Putting those in a location an opponent has invested a lot of links into can easily deprive them of a lot of points. I love the randomized ports and have never seen anyone screwed by this.
      I guess agree to disagree? I love both games and will play either one when given the chance.

    My question is though if you have to spend iron when buying the locked shipyards? Doesnt the left corner on the player mat indicate that you just have to spend your money on them (edit: waste your action moves to remove them from the mat 26:20)? Thx

  • @jensolsson5409
    @jensolsson5409 4 года назад +1

    24:35 You can actually buy (and sell) coal from ports! It is not just for cotton. Page 8, Consuming Coal, point 2 in the rule book.

    So when Developing which is basically Upgrading, what to we do with the tiles we removed from the Player Mat? I assume they can be returned to the box since they are never used but the manual does not say. Also, doesn't Developing a tile mean you will never receive points for it since it will never make it to the board?

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  6 месяцев назад

      When you develop, the tiles are simply removed from the game in any way that makes sense for you. Yes, you have no way to gain the VP for a tile once you develop it away.

    Maybe I'm wrong, since I never played the game, but the example You made for scoring, at 29:23 is inconsistent with the example You did at 29:05 where the industry tile is at the other side of the city. For clarity, do You score for every link icon in the city, no matter who owns it and THE PART OF CITY THEY ARE ON , or they must be directly adiacent to where the canal/rail meet the city ? ( then in the example at 29:23, 1 point not zero, is scored ). Thank You

      I did indeed show this wrong and I have a correction to explain this in the Klingon subtitles. I do my best to catch mistakes like this before I post the video but I do miss some so it's a good idea to watch with the Klingon subtitles on.
