I am Greek and I heard Sarit Hadad when she sang a duet with Nikos Vertis. I was very impressed by how good she sounded singing in Greek, and I decided to listen to her music. I love how similar Greek and Israeli music is.

@@Κάσσιyes, you’re right. Israeli music has a different flavor, very close to Greek. I like to listen to Moroccan-israeli bands and they always have distinct difference, closer to Greek than Moroccan Arab music even when both are in Darija (moroccan language).
Very interesting. Many people don’t have a musical ear to notice these very small differences

As an Arab I really admire the Jews who come from Arab roots for their love of their heritage and the Arab language and culture. Thery embraced it and were proud of it singing Arabic songs in Israel and the rest of the World. We have many examples for these fine people: the late Ofra haza, sarit hadad, aharom amram, zion golan, etc, etc. And they all have magical voices, bravo.

Jewish is a religion not an ethnicity. A Jew from Yemen looks like a Yemeni, a Jew from Iraq would’ve looked Iraqi; hence of different ethnicities, only share one shared likeness, religion, that’s it, some say language (Hebrew of course), but usually limited and reserved for men of the religious temples, Even Arab isn’t an ethnicity or a nationality, the only thing shared is language, that’s it !
In Mesopotamia (Iraq today) if you were to knock on the door of a family in the year 600 AD and asked for their ethnicity or nationality, guaranteed 100% the answer wouldn’t be Arab; however, in the year 700 AD, answer is guaranteed to be 100% Arab ! Same people, same location, same cuisine, same society, same everything but one new element has entered, the ARABIC LANGUAGE, that’s it, nothing more, nothing less. The short answer or explanation is they were “ARABIZED” if you will ! Peace ✌️ j

Om Kalthoum - Inta Omry (You are my Life!)
Your eyes took me back to the days that used to be (have gone),
They’ve taught me to regret the past and its wounds.
The years I lived before my eyes have seen you were wasted,
and they shouldn’t have been counted against me.
You are my life, whose morning started with your light!
    You are my life!
How much of my life’s time, before you, has gone and been spent.
Habibi (my love), how much of my life’s time has gone,
But the heart before you never saw a single joy,
Nor has it tasted in the world other than the taste of wounds!
I have only started to love my life now.
I have also started to fear that life might run past me.
My heart and mind met joy in the light of your eyes.
Ye life of my heart, more precious than my life itself.
Why Haven’t I met your love sooner?
The years I lived before my eyes have seen you were wasted,
and they shouldn’t have been counted against me.
You are my life, whose morning started with your light!
    You are my life!
The beautiful nights, affection and love,
The heart has saved them aside for you, since a long time ago.
Taste with me the love, feel its bits and pieces,
From the tenderness of my heart whose yearning for your love has reached its limit.
Give me your eyes, where my eyes can daydream into.
Give me your hands, where mine feel at ease upon touching them.
Habibi (my love), come, what has passed us is enough already!
The years I lived before my eyes have seen you were wasted,
and they shouldn’t have been counted against me.
You are my life, whose morning started with your light!
    You are my life!
Ye more precious than my days, ye more beautiful than my dreams!
Take me to your love and keep me away from the world,
Let’s go far away, just me and you,
We shall wake up with love and sleep on affection.
You made me come to peace with my life,
And helped me forget my pain, and with you I forget all sadness.
Your eyes took me back to the days that used to be (have gone),
They’ve taught me to regret the past and its wounds.
The years I lived before my eyes have seen you were wasted,
and they shouldn’t have been counted against me.
You are my life, whose morning started with your light!
    You are my life!
    -

It takes this classic to a new high. Well done dear sister. Well done. This version will live, forever! This is from a Jew who lives in the USA.

Not a bad cover, but why do israelies keep trying to repackage and sell arabic music as their own? We arabs dont do that with israel songs.
Not even an acknowledgement that this is a cover of an arabic egyptian singer.
