Thank you for giving a detailed explanation of the reg/rec, TCI and starter wiring on the XV750 with the M-Unit. Surprisingly, I think this is the only straight simple explanation available anywhere online for this bike. I am starting the teardown of my '81 and this was my biggest question. Cheers!
I'll admit , I was sceptical when you started this build but now i can see your vision taking shape im hooked ! Actually makes me wanna get started on my own project which has been sat outside for 12 months............Yeah, im short of time, money, TALENT/SKILL ! ;-)
Cracking job Dan, this is going to be amazing… btw googled this for you as you seemed unsure but you were 100% correct… Frenching is the act of recessing or moulding a headlight, taillight, antenna or number plate into a car body to give a smoother look to the vehicle. ... 😃
You make it look easy Dan, nice work. I recommend the m-unit keyless fob (I can see the phone being a pain) that way you can just junk the ignition key which'll neaten it up even more ;-)
I wish you had gone into more details of the wiring and where it was hooked up. I'm going the same route as you but I'm a bit confused on which wire gets plugged where. Like what color wire connects where onto the moto unit. If you could go into detail on a video about that please. It'll be much appreciated.
Loving the build mate, just check with your mot center the integrated lights and indicators are still allowed i was told last year by my tester that the law had changed and I had to fit separate indicators to pass the mot
Will it pass an mot with those indicators etc? I thought they had to be mounted a certain distance apart? I’d also be very wary, rode a mates BMW scrambler with a similar small led light set up, had someone undertake me when I was trying to turn left into a tight driveway (I don’t think they could see the indicator and I didn’t expect them to undertake, a very close call).
Great progress on this episode Dan, I do like the Mo Unit and the lights look very cool mate but I do wonder if they will be legal on our roads but I do hope they are as I know nothing about the laws on lights for bikes 🤞🤔👍
Looking good. I’m sure the indicators at the rear won’t pass mot? They need to be a certain distance apart, I can’t remember how much, though. Worth asking a tester before you finalise and paint it all? Hope you get chance to read this before you do paint her.
Love that rear light, how about a clear piece of perspex placed in front of the light with sealeant on the outter edge (mount the perspex on the inside) I know my spelling sucks
My bike failed the mot for that rear light indicators must be 180mm part for test but I got round it by having bar end indicators that where visible from the rear (covered rear indicators with tape for test ) but the bike looks amazing We all need friendly mot testers😊
That Mo unit is amazing!! One question. With the headlight you said dip beam and main beam. My England to American translator didn't pick that up. We say low beam and high beam. Is the dim beam our low beam and the main beam our high beam or vice versa?
Hey Dan, great work here! I was wondering if you would share your wiring diagram? I'm also building an XV1000 and I'm currently struggling with the connections between the motor and the m-unit the make it run.
Hi bud, I haven't made a diagram yet. I just sort of put wires in place and it worked 😂 I am planning on doing a video trying to explain it all when I have the bike built and I know it is right. drop me a DM on insta and I will try to help you.
@@DanChambersDAC Hey Dan, Great work, following your builds. It's amazing and simplified👍👍 The question I have, what colour wire Are you taking from Tci to m unite and in what out put On the m unit is it going to? The same also wit the solenoid? Or how long will it take before we have a detailed diagram or video? Thanks mate
Either of you guys get a diagram put together on this trying to trouble shoot my ‘81 750. Did the exact same thing in vid but not getting starter to turn over.
Great video Dan. One question: Usually in other videos they said that you need to replace the rectifier for some model that is specific for lithium battery. Have you checked that?
He mentioned that the Reg/rec has been replaced with a unit made by Rick’s electrics in the states. He actually bought the battery and the Reg/rec from Antigravity UK
There’s a product called stix all and they have a crystal clear polymer which I think would be better than clear silicone… I’m a builder, no bike expert though 🤣
Soo let me get this straight... Your ignition system has to stay basicly stock and you spent 1000 pounds on a fancy box which only replaces some wires up to your switches and a flasher relay? Oh and I would add gussets to all the angle brackets you made from Sheet steel.

All of this is very helpful to someone who’s in the process of building a virago. Thanks!
Loving the rear light
Another great video. Watching every second of them.
Love that back light setup

Get on it mate. I was in the same place, don’t let that stop you. Get stuck in.
coming along fine , all the best for start up day.....
Just found your videos and I am enjoying very much. Cheers from Memphis, TN.
Another great edit Dan. Rear light looks awesome 🤙🤟🤘👍
You never cease to amaze me, will be good when the loom is tidied up
Dan you are one clever bloke I love these episodes they are really well put together 👍
That rear light is super clean, top stuff Dan
Beautiful job Dan, be on the road soon 👊👊👊👊👊

You are killing it Dan, love your channel. Can't wait to see it finished.
Proper head scratcher that wiring mate nicely done 👏👏
Really can see progress, looking good in a very short time!
Great progress.. love the rear light a modern touch…
Cracking job
Coming along nicely Dan, that wiring kit is awesome! Headlight & features looks great 👍🏻
Thank you!

Going great Dan. Very impressed. Check your rear indicators though. You referred to left and right and the opposites were illuminating.😉
Class, keep it coming :)
Fantastic work Dan! Well done! Those wiring diagrams are fun, reminds me when I did my z750. Love both those lights!
Its coming along nicely. Won't be long before it will be on the road.
looking good man that wiring kits cool as for bike builds too
Rapid!! Moving fast mate. Nice one.

👍👍
L-indicator goes Left, R-indicator goes Right (seeing video you seem to have those flipped on the back, unless if you simply pushed wrong)
Yup, Had the buttons wrong.

Nice bit of kit Dan, love the lights very trick!.
I see you have cut the roof on the golf, new video coming soon???

Great job mate how's the eye?
Loving the work bro! Any chance of an update on the Golf? I'm revved right up for it.
Any chance you ended up drawing a wiring diagram? Currently in the middle of the same install.
👍
Lovely work, however, when you said left indicator for the rear the right came on and vice vera 14:19 mark
Hi Dan
Where did you get the headlight from ? I’m mid build with mine and really like the headlight.
Thanks Marc
Did you keep the coils? Or switch to electronic one by Accel

Is the rear light road legal? I’ve never seen anything that small on a bike before.
I’ve been running the same rear light for 2 years. The only attention I’ve had from the police is a photo say on it for his mates.
