I've had one of those for about 7 years (I live in Greece) and it's a fantastic urban ride. Reliable, plenty fast, good brakes, great handling, can park anywhere, and capable of easily hauling a week's worth of groceries. I've even taken it on 150kms + mini road trips on highways and it's fine. I've recently bought a Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber Sport and kept the Beverly for zipping around town. I'm 55 years old and, truly, it's probably the most useful and versatile commuter I've ever owned.
@@mariosnikolaou5212 The headlight burned out once, but other than that, it's been rock solid. I do all the maintenance at a Piaggio mechanic, and bring it in for a check-up every year. Good video I have had my BV. for about 5 months and couldn't be happier : ] they are defiantly excellent and reliable, fast and handle well in the rain.
jason alcide It may seem worse than it actually is on video. I’m a very experienced rider & have had very powerful motorcycles in the past. You can push your tyres more than you’d think in the wet (when tyres are up to temp) also smooth riding is the key. You can usually generally feel how much grip you have. 😃👍🏽
Hi there, really nice vid! You are crazy to go that fast under the rain hahah. So, I’m deciding between an SH 300i and the Bev 350 but I can’t find decent reviews, what I care the most is the grip (rain, wet road), handling and how much I can bend, can you help about which is the most sporty and safe one? Thanks in advance
Simone Napoli Hello, the grip is dependent on the tyres you use. (Get michelin) The suspension is better on the Beverly & it has traction control. They both are really good & you can’t go wrong. If I had to decide, I’d get the Beverly every time. Definitely get a tracker fitted & used two top quality locks combined with a cover.
@@fazer12779 thanks so much, I thought the Pirelli Diablo would be the best, that's surprising. I'm doing the switch from my 2009 Sh 125i this November so I still have some time to decide. Cheers!
That's interesting that you both like the Michelin tyres because I rode a friend's BV and I dunno if the tyres just didn't heat up enough (it was this winter..yet in England that would also apply i.e. wet and cold) but they really didn't inspire any confidence. I've seen another review of the BV on YT and the guy also complains about the City Grips. So that makes it 50/50 of people liking the tyres and not liking them! Curious to know if Michelin just had a bad batch of the tyres
akamikeg It's all about the tread pattern and the amount of sipes that they have. I am currently using Bridgestone as they came with my current scooter, but you would need to test the tyres side by side. Also enough heat in the tyres does make a difference. also the tyre compound and your riding style affects performance. Pick the tyre that gives you confidence.
Giovanni Solano The suspension is decent & fairly comfortable on bad roads. Scooter suspension is never going to be as good as a decent motorbikes, but it’s good enough. The suspension on my Honda sh wasn’t very good though on my one.
Very bad suspensions if you ride on bad roads. This scooter has a very stiff chassis and suspensions which make it stable and safe with high speed but on bad roads you'll struggle.
I’ve got a Vespa GTS 125 at the mo. Going to take parts 1 & 2 A licence. I’ve dabbled with an MP3 so I’m familiar with a 300 engine. So you don’t think after I pass test I’d be disappointed with a 350 cc machine despite having access to bigger machines. I’m a scooter fan in general really so bikes leave me cold.
Andy Franklin Hello, I think MP3’s are too bulky for traffic filtering. Honda NC750X with DCT (semi automatic) is a good compromise as it has the chassis-performance & feel of a bike but the ease & practicality of a scooter. A Piaggio Beverly 350 is actually faster than a Piaggio 500cc mp3 as I’ve raced them off the lights plenty of times. You can live with a 300cc scooter & not feel short changed performance wise, but the suspension on a proper bike is night & day better especially on rough city streets. The 300cc GTS is a great fast little scooter. If I could only have one big cc scooter I’d have the TMAX 530 or the bmw C650 sport as they do everything well apart from tight filtering.
I’d say it’s about 10% faster off the lights, quite a bit faster top end. The SH does about 85mph & the BV 105mph. If you want more performance then a Yamaha T-Max 530 is the way to go but the price is steeper. The SH & BV offer good traffic manoeuvrability. I feel if you like speed generally then 500cc minimum is where you’ll need to look.
You’ll probably find one on eBay. There are plenty of other good choices out there also (for a price though) like Bmw C-Evolution ⚡️ electric. Tmax 530 etc
I have a BV 350 and it's G8!!! I LOVE it. I have had 'hundreds of bikes', and the BV IS RIGHT UP THERE. It's just G8. Twist n go, so simple and SO MUCH FUN. Yes, FUN. It is FUN to ride, FUN to scoot. It is desirable with thieves also. I would like it if the clocks were in mph or digital so you have the choice. Get a tracker fitted if you haven’t already. 🙂
I'd get a BV every time over the SH. The BV has much more under seat storage plus I think it looks better & it's faster top end for sure. The SH is a very good scooter also if you like the look of the front end. The SH starts immediately where as the BV takes two seconds. (A lame reason I know in favour of the SH) The ignition barrel on the BV isn't as positive as in the SH if i'm being fussy. Also the SH eats through clutch plates & costed me £500 to replace through my local garage. The BV has traction control also where the SH doesn't. They are both great scooters but having owned both I'd go for the BV personally. You wouldn't go wrong with either. People say honda build quality is great but I really don't think it is.
Hugh Neek BV200 I think they use in NYC from a quick search that I did. We don't get the BV200'S over here as far as I know. We can get BV500's from what I've seen but they're rare. :)
Hi Daniel, Sorry to hear about your ride. Hope you'll get it back soon in good shape! Just a quick question. I like the BV and the SH, leaning towards the SH because of the flat floor. Do you lose a lot of luggage capacity with the BV? Cannot bring any grocery bags.. Thanks!
Nick Omg The BV has much more under seat storage than the SH. Also the BV has a bag hook on the front like the SH. If you want to carry two bags the SH is fine, if you want to carry three bags the BV is better. Also if you get top box then you'll be fine with either.
Nice video. I recently test rode the 2023 400cc model and I have to say that yours has a lot bigger and also probably better mirrors. Anaways you got my like. Drop by when you can, you may like my content.
under90seconds I've raced a Tmax 500 off the lights to 100mph & there isn't that much in it. Overall the BV is better through traffic & handling as it's more agile & lighter. The max is slightly faster in a straight line but not by much & it's not £5,000 faster. The Tmax is a good maxi scooter but is overpriced for what it is when you compare it to a Beverly plus it costs more on servicing etc. The best fast commuter scooters are the BV350 & the Honda SH300i. I've owned both.
