- 1. 1 Why boast in evil, mighty man?
God’s goodness is forever.
2 Your tongue invents an evil plan,
Like razors scheming clever.
3 You cherish evil more than good,
And lies to saying things you should.
4 Your words destroy, you liar.
2. 5 So God shall beat you ever down,
Lay hold and send you sprawling;
He’ll root you from the living ground,
He’ll pluck you from your dwelling.
6 The righteous man shall see and laugh,
7 “Behold the godless epitaph:
He trusted his rebelling.”
3. 8 But I am like an olive tree,
God’s house provides me cover;
His mercy here shall rescue me.
9 I praise Your goodness ever.
Because of all that You have done,
I’ll gather with Your holy ones;
Awaiting You forever.
