Hey, just wanted to let you know, this is probably a bootleg set, however, the 356 episodes was changed to 375 on later releases of the official set, also the discs on the later release are a little blurry because of all of the reusing of the disc artwork to put these sets out
Thanks. Just got an eBay collection today. Three years after you posted, and they are still on sale. Noticed the blurry images on the disc artwork. Your video confirmed it. Returning it.
hey, thanks for making this! I recently got the 1-6 set and was suspicious on the dirty quality of the transfer and the disc art. after researching and coming across this video, I've definitely been duped! hopefully my refund request will go through and I can complete my [legit] looney tunes golden collection!
If you guys are curious about the universal disputer, gruv they own got rights to Warner discs. Since Warner stopped making them. And they released the golden collect. Not sure if edited or not though.
Oh crap. I just realized that the one I got for Christmas last year is indeed a bootleg set. Well, bootleg or not, I don't see any difference in terms of video and audio quality. At least I have all 6 volumes in my home media collection, so it's no big deal to me.
@@JasbreHave you seen the sets Warner has been reissuing lately? I’d say they’re just as good if not worse than bootlegs at this point. Warner have been simplifying the menus and removing bonus features in order to fit content on fewer discs. This practice has yielded some pretty nasty results, compression wise.

Wow I’m glad I found this. I almost bought 1 from eBay. I’m getting it straight from Amazon now. Shockingly, there’s little info about this set. I was worried because I noticed the sets were done up video rental style with the covers inside the case. The original sets weren’t like that. They came in a box and opened like a book. I was worried that the interior notes and artwork were missing in this new design but I see they are not.
Thanks for sharing this. I have the UK release (which I could have swore only has 349 episodes, need to double check - unless there’s a bootleg UK version) but I was looking into buying the US version and this was so helpful. I see a lot of the ‘375 episodes’ ones on eBay in the listing images, so looks like I was pay a little extra and get my copy straight from Amazon. UPDATE: Ordered from Amazon and still had 375 episodes! Returned and will be buying the original individual boxes...
there are official versions with the 375 shorts numbering but my guess is WB changed it to 356 (i think 375 includes the bonus shorts from the 6th volume, and any others, cuz vol 6 has like 15 bonus shorts) to be more accurate and to differentiate the sets from the counterfeiters i guess. Another thing is to notice how bad the printing is when you compare the two, you can barely read any of the small print on the counterfeit but you can read it clearly on the official. Along with how the box material feels. I got a counterfeit last year too, got my refund but was pissed off when i even told the guy he was selling counterfeit sets and yet he continued to do so. I did get the official set from amazon 2 weeks later and i love the set since. It's stupid warner didn't stop this yet after all these years.
@@SFCWorcester 375 is official, for the initial prints, new prints have 356 because the original number included bonus shorts. just be careful where you order, 375 is the older version and 356 could be the current version because that's what i got through amazon

Thank you, sir! I got this off eBay and once it came in and I started opening up and looking at the discs - the print quality on the dvds and the covers looked so awful and the color was off. Sigggggh - but thank you for confirming my suspicions!!!

Thank you so much for this video; I've seen a ton on eBay that look fairly suspicious and it's a good thing my assumption was right. I'm glad that 356 is a good indicator or is it the extra space where the text ends.
Did you end up getting a set? I had to pay quite a bit to get one that was obviously legitimate on eBay so many looked fake. I even saw another RUclipsr who is a DVD and Blu-ray collector that had a bootleg

I ended up with a bootleg. Surprisgly sold by amazon and no third party was involved. How can we trust what the hell we buy online. Thank you for this VERY informative video. 👍
Yeah mine says 375 episodes but looks to be an offical reprint. I tried copying the episodes to my computer and it wouldn't let me meaning is has correct encryption only on official DVDs. Also I noticed the DVDs start on the right hand side of the case.
These are STILL floating around.... Returning mine. Another thing I was able to do is drag-and-drop files from the disc directly to my PC desktop, no copy protection.
I know what you mean! I just spent over a hundred to get the 1 through 6 set because it was the only one that had enough pictures to appear legit with good feedback
Ended up with a bootleg copy today that I'm sending back tomorrow, they went through the extra effort of fixing the color differences but never changed the 375 on the side, also disc one was 4.1gb. :/
Are the fake discs pressed or burned? If they're burned like most fakes they'll be blue/black, while the official pressed ones will be silver. Unless of course the fakes are also pressed but fake pressed discs are pretty rare since it's more expensive and they want to make them as cheaply as possible.
It says that it's uncut and I assume that means that certain shorts that were censored for later earrings that were heavily censored are restored but does that also mean that it has shorts like the Bosco shorts and the sensored 11?
I have a real set and a bootleg set. Vol 1 disc 1 of the real thing is 7gb. The fake is 4.2gb. Quality wise, the fake looks noticeably worse, especially around the lines. That's because it's 60% the size and bitrate and therefore has a lot of compression artifacts that aren't noticeable on the real one. The bootlegs I have are also pressed. So it being pressed doesn't mean it's legit. Veracity aside, if you have two discs with the same content, yet one is ~60% the size of the other, it's gonna look worse.
So, I was about to purchase this box set from ebay, For $79.95 Australian. I thought the grey on the pic of the package was closer to the good one above, more so the the blue grey dodgy one. But then on their notes on the ebay ad it say 375, rather than 356. So now I'm not sure. It's listed as brand new, were the bootleg ones listed as brand new? Is anyone able to help?
@The Goo Fighters yes I wish I got a reply to my comment earlier. I already bought and now returned the set. DVD cases were hard to open and the discs were discoloured.
I got mine 5 years ago for 55$ the only thing tht indicates it’s fake is the plastic on the case other than tht the special features play well u think it’s a fake
F*k! I just realized I have the same fake collection!!!!. I had it for a year, and it wasn't until the other day I started to rip the dvds into my pc (to put everything in Plex), and everytime I opened the disc with Makemkv(software), it warned me that the disc was burned with DVDFab and it recommended me to use the original disc. I thought it was weird, since I thought those were the original dvds, then I began to think those were not a original copy, I paid almost $55 for them. No after watching your video I just found out that I have a bootleg. The discs are 4.51GB each of them exactly, a DVD5, when clearly in the back of the dvd case it says double layered, meaning DVD9 or a size between 4.7 and 9GB. That tells me that they have been compressing the dvds (shrinking the size of the video), lowering the quality/bitrate to fit them in a single layer dvd-r (cheaper one), making it more pixelated and blurry. Now I feel I'm watching a low quality dvdrip downloaded from the internet :(
it's horrible, i remember getting mine from ebay and just didn't know what the hell to do cuz i loved the shorts but i was screwed out of about 50 bucks. Luckily i did the right thing and told my parents, got a refund (yet the seller still sells the counterfeit set to this day after i told him, probs has it in on the operation idk, something really screwy) and then had to order 2 times from amazon before not getting a crushed box with the official discs and 356 number. The official sets do say 375 or 356, 356 is most-likely a later print to differentiate from the counterfeits and remove any extra shorts that were added into the numbering (60 x 5 + 56 = 356, and a few volumes have bonus shorts). If you can't read the small text on the box or sets, if the words aren't printed clearly, it's counterfeit. It's pretty easy to tell.
Hey, just wanted to let you know, this is probably a bootleg set, however, the 356 episodes was changed to 375 on later releases of the official set, also the discs on the later release are a little blurry because of all of the reusing of the disc artwork to put these sets out
yes. The only true way to know for sure if your set is legit is to check if the discs are dual layer.
No. The number of episodes wasn't changed. There's 356 episodes
