I honestly died at that shot of the shower hose at the end 😂 Surely if they want to be the mini-Emirates of the western part of the Middle East, they’d get the airport to invest in an in-house transit hotel….
Over 20 years ago I flew coach class on Royal Jordanian from Los Angeles to Bahrain. It was a very odd flight path, LAX-ORD-VIE-AMM (one flight number). After a three hour layover in Amman, I flew on to BAH. Back then RJ was fantastic, I have not flown them since but after watching your video, I might consider them again, but without the transit hotel.
Up till recently, their BKK flights continued on to KUL. They also used to serve SIN. Suppose COVID caused airlines all over to rationalise their ops. In 2010s, RJ underwent a transformation which I have to say agrees with them. They have signified this change with a small "red swish" on their engine cowlings, which I'm glad... Because they did not tweak their livery - one of the most stunning brandings ever. I've always wondered about filming on RJ because of their air marshals.
We flew RJ MAD-AMM-BKK round trip in Business in October and December 2023 and enjoyed the service and lounge in Amman. Our layover was not long enough to be offered the hotel, which was a good thing, I guess! RJ’s fare was very low, making it a good value. It isn’t Emirates, to be sure, but it is a solid 3-star biz class product. I would absolutely fly with them again!
Hello! I’m so happy that I found you! This is my first viewing of your content. I really enjoyed it. Unlike some other travel blogs where you have to read along instead of having a soothing voice to listen to (I do not enjoy reading along). Yours was fabulous, informative and funny at times. As others mentioned, the shower experience had me laughing out loud 😂, thank you! Well I’ll keep following and see where you take to me next. Best wishes and safe travels! ❤️👏🏻👋🏻😀🤗👍✈️🛩️
Ahhh....Revenge of the Transit Hotel...Travel Rule 345...Alway be suspicious if they offer you a complimentary Transit Hotel for long lay-overs...lol...😂😅😂😜
@JeanClaudeCOCO Another blogger mentioned that the star rating system which originated in US/EUR and consequently adopted worldwide should be interpreted differently in Asia, Mid East, Central, South America...subtract one star.
Actually it's not just BKK but these flights used to extend to KUL and HKG as well with 5th freedom rights, COVID restrictions ended those and they have not resumed. Once upon a time till the early 2000s I believe, SIN was also a destination
Very true. I did a brutal route as it was the cheapest business class MAN-LHR-AMM-BKK-HKG with BA and RJ both on their 787. U stay on the plane in Bkk with cleaning crew coming onboard and they didn't change the blankets just folded them and reused for the BKK-HKG passengers 😅
6:49 Because of COVID in 2020 the Saudi Gulf Airlines stopped their entire business of flights and they sold all of their aircrafts, two of them were gone to Amman and now these two aircrafts were operated by Royal Jordanian. Saudi Gulf airline was the national Saudi airline that was operating in Dammam Airport from the end of 2016 up until 2020 (corona pandemic).
Royal Jordanian has always surprised me how they have been able to have such a considerable fleet and network considering how small their home market is and the state of their economy. I was working for two years as ground staff for a handling agent at SPL airport that had Royal Jordanian as a client….their aircraft were in dire condition, nearly falling apart and the service was abysmal….this was early nineties, they have come a long way! Thank you for the review!
I suppose they certainly have come a long way, but I guess when you have the government at your coat tails, it's a bit easier to navigate! Thanks as always for watching 🙏
Alia used to fly the Lockheed Tristar L1011 and had a great livery. Bangkok is a popular summer retreat for mid east residents and also used to provide connections to East Asia and China for Alia.
Hi Sir- love your RJ reviews. I have just purchased RJ tickets (LCA-AMM-BKK) return and look forward to the travel date. The economy price is about 75% of what EK and QR charge so it is very good. I talked with our friendly local RJ agent and she said that the hotel has been renovated and improved. Luckily I only get to use it on my return sector as the outbound is less than 8 hours. She also recommended paying a fee to use the business lounge too. Anyway, since my travel date is far in the future (Aug 2025), I hope things generally improve (no nuclear wars😅). Your review provides a good insight of what to expect. Thanks.
Nice review Kevin. I did Rj a few months back on a long haul DXB to and from Detroit. Service and food was good but the biz class configuration of 222 is rather dated. You’re spot on about the hotel. I was also stuck in there because of a missed connection and it was horrendous - with showers not working, no outlets, light switches that didn’t function, a tv that wouldn’t turn on, very dirty. Given the choice I would have preferred to spend the night in the lounge.
Good review. I don't hesitate to recommend the airline between LHR and AMM. Jordan? A fascinating 7-10 day holiday destination. The airline, BTW, has one of the most striking HQs in the industry.
As perhaps the first Jordanian to have watched the clip, I, on behalf of all Jordanians, say to you, welcome back to Jordan and allow us to host you in our home. It is sad to see your experience with this hotel. I hope that your voice reaches those responsible for it. Greetings, my friend👋
That hotel is just plain weird. When I was staying there a few years ago it was early April. It was already hot weather in Amman and the room was stifling. But the hotel had a rule that they weren't going to have air conditioning until April 15th. Also the window was bolted shut. I finally convinced the hotel to unbolt the window and take it completely off. Me and the guy across the hall agreed to leave our doors for a few hours and create a cross flow of air to get the temperature down. They also made me pay for the internet. And for me also, the shuttle was indifferently scheduled.
Ah, your turn of phrase had me chuckling! You reminded me of the “roach hotel” we stayed in in Miami courtesy of TWA. The room in which they put a 2 year old had the power plug hanging out of the wall, exposing the live terminals! When we photographed it, there was a cockroach on the power point! The room was filthy, one bed had clearly been urinated upon AFTER it had been made up. I do not miss TWA!
Indeed, and IIRC the HKG flight made a stop @BKK and had 5th Freedom rights between the two. Flew this route a few times pre-COVID though starting in CAI.
Well someone need to tell them KUL, CGK, DEL, BOM, MLE and CAN have been open again for quite a while lol... Reluctance to relaunch CMB and HKG at the moment, I can understand.
What is the name of the hotel? I have a 21hr transit !!! in Ammaan on may way from RUH to MAN in June … over the years I’ve flown Business on all the major Mid Eastern airlines & stayed in some of their airport hotels, either inside the airport or outside … they’ve been excellent … never flown RJ so though I’d try them out … looking forward to the flight experience BUT after watching this my planned layover is giving some …. well, how should I put this … ‘cause for concern’
Fantastic reivew! Thank you. Still I am surprised you did not need a visa to enter Jordan? I always thought it is necessary to apply for eVisa in advance and pay around 50 eur for it.
It is generally required. Only in a case specifically like mine is the fee waved. Note that the hotel keeps your passport the entire time, so you are not free to enter Jordan.
@@tfft yes well they don't have the capital backing of a rich state and to top that there is a lot of competition in the region. Add to that the economic issues over the years and you certainly can understand why they scaled back and haven't expanded as much as other regional airlines. Also Jordan isn't transit hub as many airports around them are. It's good they're still able to stay in the business. Did you see any mini tornadoes while at the airport? I used to see one or two when I flew in or out of there haha
So I was travelling economy class from 🇮🇳 Mumbai to 🇨🇦 Toronto with 🇪🇬 Egypt air. I had 20 hours of layover and Cairo. They gave us a five star hotel. They gave us amazing food and honestly I cannot complain.
Thanks for showing this. I’m hoping that women traveling solo will have the sense to stay safely in the airport if passing through this country or similar ones. Quatar always has cheap flights, but with the caveat of being stuck in Dohar for a long layover. No thanks 😉

As they start adding 787s they’ll open up new destinations in Asia including India, Malaysia, Hong Kong and China in addition to more spots in the US (west coast). This hotel is horrific! They will have to do something about it.
Have you seen specific things published about them serving those destinations? Receiving just one new 787 a year (for 6 years) makes that growth seem a bit aggressive haha.
I haven't been to any Sheraton in decades, but I have a feeling you might be wrong on this one lol. If any Bonvoy full service hotel in the US had carpets like this, I assure you it would be the constant topic of every Bonvoy group lol.
Sorry man . As jordanian this hotel in specific is a big embrassment 😂. We all know how bad it is . And everyone is calling to be renovated or to open alternative options. Unfortunately RJ has no choice as the next closest hotel will be an amman ( 30 min drive and not so fun traffic in rush hours) .
Hi, Kevin. Pity about the hotel spoiling your overall imression of Royal Jordanian experience. I hope the next next leg went better. I'll find out in your next video. Thanks for bringing this review🙁🙃
Great Video. I liked the ATH to Amm and the AMM to BKK video as well. I am so sorry for the hotel experience and I hope the hotrel management would see this and do something about it. I have been to this hotel many years ago and I do not think any updates were done to this property. Amman has many very nice hotels so it should not make people not visit the beautiful city of Amman. Just do not stay at this hotel.
I’m not able to look at it right now but my next flight had exactly the same format menu so it’s possible I mixed the pages up. If it doesn’t match what you saw then I suppose that’s what happened.

Btw believe it or not I discovered that Royal Jordanian's transit hotel has 2 parts. One new part hidden on the ground floor with nice modern rooms and amenities usually given to Jordanians only and one old part in the main building consisting of old dated rooms given to foreigners.
The 3 summer months in parts of Bangkok can be ‘interesting’ to say the least.. anyway there’s a large exodus during those times- I’m assuming that the Middle East is much much hotter then than Thailand and other parts of Asia ..🙏
@@tfft I can’t give you a satisfactory reply here about this without coming across really negatively in a way that I’m not .. if you have an email address I’d be glad to try there.. also I make electronic music, and maybe you might be interested to hear some tunes ? Anytime is good with me .. thanks 🙏
I was hoping to hear to understand a little more why they price their tickets on average higher than competition (with the exception of, maybe, QR)… but thank you nonetheless for a great review. Will be waiting for the second leg of the journey
Royal Jordanian is not royal in anyway.. they have unfriendly staff I stoped flying them due to poor onetime departures and rude cabin service and quality of passengers.
The hotel got nothing to do with the airline, you just love any free stuff, the hotel under Renavation after water flood so it’s not cigaret , be responsible 😂 anyhow you got small numbers of vower . You see how you lose viewers 😂 learn
I honestly died at that shot of the shower hose at the end 😂 Surely if they want to be the mini-Emirates of the western part of the Middle East, they’d get the airport to invest in an in-house transit hotel….

Odd that my two flights out of AMM took off to the West (2nd one even after 07 Oct).

That hotel room looked worse than short stay hotels in the back streets of the far east ... you poor guy. Btw "dirt devils" should be dust devils
Regional thing perhaps then- I've always known them as dirt devils in my neck of the woods. Thanks for watching 🩴
That showerhead!
It cleaned the whole bathroom! haha
Correction at 4:15 ; the airlines named after the king’s first wife “Queen Alia” NOT his first daughter
Correction to your correction. The airline was established in 1963. Queen Alia was King Hussein's 3rd wife who he married in 1972.
Just checked and I was confused between the wife’s and daughter’s names ALIA
You’re right. Apologies 🙏
So Brown colors during the landing. Dry dry dry the house Down
Do you know of any purple and green deserts? lol
Yeah that’s just gross! The plane looked great 😀 The hotel not cool man! 😏
Thanks for watching 🩴
The lounge wasn't THAT much better. I spent 10 hours in there in November and it was full of birds. The aviary type not female human.
The lounge didn't stick to my feet... that's a default win lol
@@tfft hahahaha. they charge for the showers in the lounge too!
The 3 summer months in parts of Bangkok can be ‘interesting’ to say the least.. anyway there’s a large exodus during those times- I’m assuming that the Middle East is much much hotter then than Thailand and other parts of Asia ..🙏
Genuinely don't understand what you're referring to.
@@tfft I can’t give you a satisfactory reply here about this without coming across really negatively in a way that I’m not .. if you have an email address I’d be glad to try there.. also I make electronic music, and maybe you might be interested to hear some tunes ? Anytime is good with me .. thanks 🙏
do Egypt air
Patience :)
Still havent received my points 5 years ago :-) Horrid hotel. Will never fly again!
Thanks for sharing ✈️
I was hoping to hear to understand a little more why they price their tickets on average higher than competition (with the exception of, maybe, QR)… but thank you nonetheless for a great review. Will be waiting for the second leg of the journey
I generally find them (along with Saudia) to be the cheapest option flying between Bangkok and much of Europe.
It depends on some connections, dates
Flown RJ twice. Was very average
Sounds spot on lol
Royal Jordanian is not royal in anyway.. they have unfriendly staff I stoped flying them due to poor onetime departures and rude cabin service and quality of passengers.
Thanks for sharing ✈️
In Summary the on board product was good but the ground plus transit experience was terrible.
Sure lol
back in the day when travellers wore pants....
In the current day when people didn't make a fuss about what other people choose to do...
Yeah... thst roomwas GROSS!🤢🤮
Thanks for watching 🩴
i just saw kevins bare legs..lol
Don't get too excited, they're only in like 50 videos lol
The hotel got nothing to do with the airline, you just love any free stuff, the hotel under Renavation after water flood so it’s not cigaret , be responsible 😂 anyhow you got small numbers of vower . You see how you lose viewers 😂 learn
Lay off the spicy stuff.
