The Captain's Heart is book 1 in a 5-book science fiction/intrigue series following the lives of Jeremy and Gralgiran, an Earther and Kelsirian from before their meeting, it happening, and its far-reaching consequences as their love pits them against a government determined to maintain the illusion that such thing isn't possible.
It involves two men, one of which isn't human, building a relationship together.
Book 1 focuses on the days before and after the meeting, as both come to terms with feeling something for someone they never thought they could. one because same gender love isn't something that exist within his species, and the other because what he knows of his people's traditions led him to believe what he was seeking would be found within his species.
but even once the two of them come to embrace what they mean to each other, their troubles are only beginning as their love isn't something one of the governments can't allow to exist.
Follow Jeremy and Gralgiran as they confront prejudices and outright attacks simply for loving the person they love.
