What about FACTA laws impacting US citizens living overseas -- in many countries few institutions -- if any -- will not allow US citizens to open a bank account as the compliance for the institution is too burdensome to allow a US citizen to be on a bank account. Forget a mortgage with a US citizen on it.
Retail bank accounts with a US citizen on it are not worth it. The FACTA laws made life for US citizens living and working overseas very difficult. FACTA was designed to go after people hiding money, but it actually impacted only the "regular" people.

My husband sends me money via a money transfer app. Will that suffice ? We living separately in different countries and super difficult to open a joined account without me having a SSN.
