it really is a lot of work to bring an old juke box back to its former glory with the "HARD LIFE" that it was subjected to, lack of maintenance, tar infestation from cigarette smoke, and just setting around for years. all the mechanical parts need cleaning/ relubrication. you did a great job on this "MOCK- OLA"!!!. for your information "ROCK- OLA" juke box company is still in operation. they have come full circle by going back to building the vinyl record changer units again!!!!. the units are based on a" mod. 1015 whirlitzer juke box"

Awesome job John- a real credit to you I love the mix of old and new and how good does that exposed mechanism look !!! It has given me a lot of thought on the old princess console I have- looking forward to some more of your projects in the future. Cheers mate and all the best from down under - Mark

Thanks Mark, glad you've enjoyed this one! Next job for me is to get my Rock-Ola 477 Max back up and running - it was working up until about a month ago, but now it's not selecting and the display has gone all weird and flickery. Trouble is it's a later machine, all microprocessor controlled - I'm dreading it being some sort of fault on one of the logic boards... Hope all's well in your part of the world mate, the news headlines have made grim reading lately. Oh, and you'll have to keep me posted if you start doing stuff to the Princess console!

djsherz you sound a bit like me John- I love the electromechanical side of the jukeboxes but hate the microprocessors and computer side of it !!.
We’ve been quite lucky down here in Tasmania ,while having a few small bushfires it’s been nothing like the disaster that has unfolded and continues to unfold on mainland Australia- but in true Australia spirit we’ll come through this and band together to help our mates out👍I’ll keep you updated if I decide to go down the same path as you did, the princess is quite a plain machine and could only benefit from an upgrade like yours .
It’s pretty much a full time job keeping these old jukeboxes going as you would know- as well as the princess I also have an mm4 - 2 city 4 combos a seeburg entertainer and a rockola r80 Fleetwood!!! So they keep me pretty busy.
Keep us all posted on how you go with the new project .
      Cheers mate
      Mark

wow John got yourself a little business you could get going there, you should see if anyone around would like one of these building or if they have an old one that needs sprucing up, just to bring back these good old juke boxes in to the pubs and cafe's

    DUDE!
or should that be MATE!? LOL
You did an incredible and AMAZING job on this old machine. I watched every part, all 16. On top of that, I watched every second of all 16 parts. I just picked up a model 468. Very close to yours, but not exact. YOU, are the ONLY reason I took apart the selector unit to clean it. With mine, it did kind of work, but you had to play with or wiggle the buttons after the third button was pressed to get it to make the selection. Mine was in much worse shape then yours was. When I took it apart, and took off the waffer boards, I think that's what you called them, some of the contact taps also came off with them. The contacts that came off, still had the other side, so I continued to clean the entire unit. I get it all back together, to find out I had misaligned one board. So I had to take it all apart again. Got it all back together, and the thing worked perfect for the selections on the first track, or first lane of the selection wheel, the same one I was having an issue with to begin with, but could get to work with some playing with the buttons while the third number was being held down by the system. At first, nothing would work, but that's because I miss-aligned the coil. Once I got that back to the right spot, the first track selections worked perfect. I have to now find either a DONOR switch to make the repairs on mine to replace the broken contacts, or find one that in in already working condition. I will admit, taking those apart to that point and getting them back together is a real ROYAL Pain, but I'd do it again if needed. But I don't want to. LOL My cabinet is in good shape, but I like what you did to yours! I'd like to add just the Blue tooth thing to mine. My question is this. Does you Blue tooth and the JukeBox use the same amp, or does the Blue Tooth use it's own Amp, and the Jukebox use it's original Amp. I'm getting ready to send my Jukebox Amp off to get updated. New caps and whatnot. It sounds really good now, but I guess I just want to clean up the sound a bit, and to give a longer life span. At current, mine has over 39,000 plays on it. I know that you put in a new amp, but was that just for the blue tooth device, or the whole unit? Again, Steller Job on the cabinet!

Hi, glad you enjoyed! Yeah those selector switches are a pain to work on, but after 40 years of abuse, it had to be done! I'm not in any rush to do that job again haha...
The new amp board does the vinyl and the bluetooth, although it still uses the original amp's input, AVC and tone control stage. I just added an external panel to the cabinet to control the volume and tone from there, and of course the switch to select between vinyl and bluetooth.

You forgot one thing.... you needed to update the last serviced sticker... 50 years from now when most of us are gone the new owner will know when it was last worked on... great work... do you have a list of records you put in the jukebox?

Cheers Mitch! We were hoping to hit the broads again this year, but it's starting to look like we've been priced out of the market. The hire prices are insane, just down to going a week or so later than we normally do. :(
