Yes it can use Bluetooth headsets but the manual states that a Bluetooth PTT is also needed like the Anytone UV878 does. Connecting External Bluetooth Devices 1. Connect to Bluetooth PTT Turn on the radio, then press the orange key twice OR select [Pairing] in the menu to enter the pairing state. A 'BEEP' will be heard and a red-green light flashing means the radio is now in pairing status. Long press the Bluetooth PTT, the Bluetooth PTT is now in pairing status, after 10 seconds, the connection will be successful. Press PTT, and the transmitter light of the radio will be red when transmitting. 2. Connect to Bluetooth Speaker Mic Turn on the radio, then press the orange key twice OR select [Pairing] in the menu to enter the pairing state. A 'BEEP' will be heard and red-green light flashing means the radio is now in pairing status. Turn on the Bluetooth speaker mic, double click the “PAIR” key to enter pairing status. The headset icon will be displayed in the toolbar when pairing is successful 3. Connect a Bluetooth headset (universal version) Open the app, switch to the connection management page, then click SCAN. The Bluetooth headset enters the pairing mode, then click the headset model to pair with device. Tip: When you connect a Bluetooth headset you will need to connect a Bluetooth PTT to transmit, each brand of Bluetooth headset enters the pairing mode differently, please read the headset manual carefully before pairing with this device.
Thanks. I wanted voice activated but after you mentioning the Bluetooth ptt. That will work to put on my quad handle bar. Hopefully I can conect my AirPods to it. Then I’ll be all set.
@@matthewhanawalt2115 No I haven’t tried it yet & I still want to get 2 radios but I just found out about the Vero VR-75 HAM model that’s identical to the Btech GMRS Pro. I just don’t know which one to get now & wish someone would do a comparison on these two. There is more HAM repeaters where I’m from & I’m thinking of going that route incase of an emergency but still be able to talk to GMRS if I have to. Mostly I just want to talk to radio to radio without going on a repeater but it’s mostly for emergencies & I would use them in the Mountains to track one another.
GPS is never based on cell phone towers... the GPS in your phone will still work fine if cell towers are down as well, you just won't be able to navigate using google maps or a similar service as those require internet...
Yes. Just like the GPS on the cell phone, which you already have with you, will also work. Although impressive, GPS on a walkie talkie is a useless feature, cheaply added to boost the cost of the radio by several times.
I don't blame you for giving it away. So instead of an HT. I'm supposed to fiddle around with all that? How is this going to help you in a "grid down emergency"? I'll look for you alongside the road. I'll spend the money on two radios I might use someday. Either way, I've avoided the trouble. Happy marketing.

Thanks for sharing your discovery. Now I can have a functional bt Mic for my btech.
I believe this mic was madr for the vg vrn 7500 radio , their app also works with this radio
Can you pair it to the radio without the phone? I dont want a radio and accessories to be dependent on some app on a third device.
Great video, got me one also, works as you said a big thank you, down button on mine is the same.
Glad it works for you too. Hopefully a firmware update will fix it.
So I noticed the form factor (size), the mic is still sort of bulky, why not just carry the radio?
Can it be used as microphone only ?
Can this radio be paired with a Bluetooth headset & I would like it to be voice activated?
Yes it can use Bluetooth headsets but the manual states that a Bluetooth PTT is also needed like the Anytone UV878 does.

@@offgrid.technology there is no way to get VOX function using the app on the smartphone?
@@smileysun9212 I’m thinking about a similar set up. Have you tried this out yet?

My question is more about that gmrs radio rather than the mic... Does any of this GPS functionality work if cell phone towers are down?
Yes gps is built into the radio. There are also offline maps you can download in the app.

Nice video, I just ordered one for my Btech gmrs pro.
Is it waterproof
No info on it being waterproof. It does have a solid build but no claim I found to be.
Can a Bluetooth keyboard be added?
I don’t believe so.
Thumbs up! 👍
Thank you!!!
New happy to be here 73s
Welcome and thanks for the support. 73s
Is it weather resistant?
It definitely looks like the same weather resistance the GMRS-Pro has with the rubberized buttons and the speaker film cover inside.
thanks
This would be nice to have.
It’s really useful especially when I’m in the car driving for hands free sort of lol
