I was overcome with emotion when I listened to your closing comments. Nobody in the civilised world wants to witness another Easter like this one. As a Christian country, Russia should be truly ashamed. There is no place in Heaven or Hell for the aggressors. Happy Easter Anna. Slava Ukraine 💙💛🇺🇦🇬🇧💙💛
Russia is very far from a Christian country. I'm virtually atheist but possibly a lot more Christian than the Russian Orthodox Church. To begin with, I don't have a patron saint of long range nuclear bombers, symbols of mass human incineration. I don't have a military cathedral full of martial symbolism somewhere near Moscow that no self-respecting Christian would be proud to show off to a resurrected Messiah. I don't follow a warmongering archbishop who glorifies the murder of Ukrainians. I am quite comfortable with the idea that Jesus Christ existed and by all accounts led an exemplary life. I think that the Russian Orthodox Church has no more empathy with his life and teaching than a dog has with the works of Albert Einstein.

The Pysankas mostly disappeared from Ukraine, when the soviets prohibited them. After 1991, artisans from Ukrainian communities around the world returned to Ukraine to bring the technique and tradition back to the country, including a famous artisan family from Brazil. Happy Easter, respect and support from Brazil.
Yes, please, Anna. The eggs are phenomenal. There are Ukrainians in the US that make them and some are making them as fundraising for Ukraine. Unfortunately they are all sold out. I will keep looking.

We have an egg from Ukraine in a china hutch. Nearly 100 years old. It was given by someone who came from Ukraine to my Mom for her 13th birthday. My Mom passsed away in May 2010 at 84. It sits on a wooden egg stand with my moms name and date and age of her birthday. The painting is so elegant done by an artist of great talent. Some reds and greens and could be a Christmas Egg also. I think yellow and blue reminds me of Ukraine. I love videos where you take us to museums and art galleries. I can see all the talented artisans on display and wonder if they are still alive. I think of what art was stolen from us with children that could have become artisans. What talent in painting, sculpting and music we will never see or hear. How many museums and art galleries were destroyed and we will never see those items again. It would make an interesting video of you painting an egg to see the process. SLAVA UKRAINE
Happy Easter, Anna. Living in Canada 🇨🇦, I am used to seeing Ukrainian pysankas in people's homes. You can even buy little stands to exhibit them. It's great fun for children to learn how to decorate eggs. СЛАВА УКРАЇНІ! 🇺🇦
My Ukrainian diaspora neighbours had a bowl of pysanky eggs that were on display all year. I was always impressed by their beauty and still remember them many decades later. I also remember the egg-cracking game that was played on Easter. The adults took it seriously, it was a lot of fun. Perhaps you can demonstrate it to the world next week? Happy Easter, Anna! I have been having pysanky parties at home to introduce my friends to this beautiful folk art. Also, a shop nearby held a couple of classes and sent the proceeds to the AFU. Our hearts are with you!
I am truly impressed that the tree of life is still used as a symbol on eggs. In Germany the cathololic iquision totally eliminated this symbol in the centuries of witch hunts.
Wow! a blast from the past for me!! This reminded me of decorating Easter eggs with my Ukrainian Mom and Grand mother (Bubba). Nothing fancy, just liquid wax, a pencil with eraser and a pin with a head on it. Dab the wax, dab on the egg and let it dry. Then color the egg.. Good times.. Happy Easter Anna, really enjoyed your story of the Pysanka! Lets hope by next Easter that Ukraine and the world will be free of Putin and his disgusting regime. Looking forward to the day we can all visit your beautiful country in peace😊
Thank you Anna Ukraine has such beauty and talent and amazing artists and musicians and poets. Ukraine is a creator of beauty and life and continues to rise up. On this Easter day, Ukraine grows bigger and bigger, Than its neighbor, Putin's Russia, who has become (or perhaps always was) a destroyer of itself and everything around it. These are the moments we see that creators and creation will always beat out destroyers. Its very biblical. Glory to the Ukraine and Its Heros!
WOW, Excellent introduction and I call it an "introduction" because I would like to see more. Excellent writing, presentation and the touches of Sasha! Share what you feel on your Easter morning! If your cheeks are wet and your eyes are red that is to be expected. Rich emotions are painful too. ( your voice is very comforting, so where/who did that come from and be thankful ) Slava Ukraini !!
In LTU we also decorate eggs for Easter, but they're slightly different. Our "margučiai" (decorated eggs) have less pictures and more ornaments which are often from ancient/pagan times. Before the 20th century they'd be decorated not by colouring them, but by dripping hot wax on them with some thin pointy metal tool or by "sculpting" them with a sharp knife or needle to make mechanical marks in the shell of the egg (kind of like the white eggs you show towards the end). Of course, these days people go the much easier way and decorate hen or duck eggs by colouring them with a natural (from onion skins, wine, vinegar, etc.) or artificial dies. Ann and Sasha, thank you for the beautiful video! Slava Ukraini! Šlovė Ukrainai!
Very beautiful! It's been ages since I last colored eggs, and I've never been able to make anything remotely as artful as the eggs you showed. I would love to see your own easter eggs and decorations next week.
Happy Easter to you as well and many дякую! It is wonderful to be able to learn about Ukrainian culture despite the war. I listen a lot to Ukrainian songs and language podcasts. Some RUclipsrs that I see often feel like friends. I'll definitely come to Ukraine for a big tour when the orcs have been driven out. Slava Ukraini!
My cousin paints eggs for christmas and easter but I haven't seen pysanka style paintings. Now I know what souvenir to buy. Yellow is the most used color in Finnish easter decorations. Yellow small chicks, yellow daffodils. Chocolate in different forms like bunnies and eggs. Willow branches with white fluffy catkins which we call pajunkissa, willow's cat.

Share what you feel on your Easter morning! If your cheeks are wet and your eyes are red that is to be expected. Rich emotions are painful too. ( your voice is very comforting, so where/who did that come from and be thankful )
Slava Ukraini !!
Glory to Heroes and Happy Easter
Wonderful Anna
ANNA YOU ARE TOTALLY COOL!!! So is the Ukrainian history and culture! Thank you so much for showing me this beautiful art from your country!
Very beautiful! It's been ages since I last colored eggs, and I've never been able to make anything remotely as artful as the eggs you showed.
I would love to see your own easter eggs and decorations next week.
Happy Easter, Anna. I was a primary school teacher and every year at Easter we had an Easter egg decorating competition. The children loved it.
That is beautiful 💙💛
Happy Easter to you as well and many дякую! It is wonderful to be able to learn about Ukrainian culture despite the war. I listen a lot to Ukrainian songs and language podcasts. Some RUclipsrs that I see often feel like friends. I'll definitely come to Ukraine for a big tour when the orcs have been driven out. Slava Ukraini!
Happy Easter Anna and friends in Ukraine.
Beautiful, simply beautiful ❤❤❤
God bless Ukraine and their heroes the defenders of Europe and the values of the free world and a democracy ❤
