    Place a comb across the top and put the wick between the teeth to hold in place.

    Tip: if you dont have a wax heater, you can also use a knife to break the rest of the leftover wax out from the cups then heat them in the microwave and pour into the new one! Super easy to do and dont forget to save the glasses!

    Instead of rinsing out your jar, an easier way, pop it in the freezer for 10 minutes or so, woo hoo, wax comes right off easily. Sometimes even better, it will pop out too even if you have a lot. So much easier than washing the wax out with soap water in a sink. No mess using freezer method ! Guaranteed. Let me know if you like this suggestion after doing this method. A lady who use to make candles for me told me this. It’s a MIRACLE.

    Put a little melted wax to hold the wick! It sets quickly & holds it in place :) while you pour the rest ...

  • @SweetPea112
    @SweetPea112 7 лет назад +286

    Instead of holding the long wick until the melted wax rehardens, wrap the top of the wick (the extra part above the rim of the jar) around a pencil. Put the wick in the bottom of the candle and rest the pencil with the extra wick wrapped around it across the top of the jar. Then begin pouring wax. The wick will be set in the wax and the resting pencil with the extra wick wound around it will stay in place while you pour the rest of the different waxes into the new jar.

    • @badgyal4576
      @badgyal4576 6 лет назад +12

      Or just poke a hole through a piece of foil (about the size of the wick) put wick through the hole then place wick in the jar filled with wax as you did then cover the rim of the jar with the foil...wick will stand with the support of the foil. When it hardens pull foil up and continue adding wax👍

    To keep wax in place all you needed to do is dip the base in the melted wax and hold it down at the base of the new Jar, it will only take less than a minute to stick.

    First things first: the wick is not in the middle and second: this candle will make a ring (tunnel burn) because you left the wick too long. The ideal length is 10 mm; that the wax melts evenly over the entire surface, that the wick does not take the shape of a mushroom when burning and does not smoke. Melting the wax: boil water in a large pot, place several glasses inside and the wax will melt and the label will come off. To keep the wick in the middle, use popsicle sticks, a comb, skewers...

    IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BUY A WAX WARMER:
    Boil some water (I use an electric kettle) and pour it directly over the wax. Wax floats. Once it has fully dissolved off the bottom and floated to the top, stick the whole jar in the fridge to solidify it. It will turn into a wax puck on top of the water.
    You can empty multiple used candles at a time with this method. You just need at least one other container to put the wax puck in for remelting in the microwave if you want to still do the layer method.

  • @sadhguruspot-on7835

    to hold the wick in the empty glass jar, just dip bottom of the wick holder (the metal part) to the liquid wax and put it in the center of your jar and hold it down. you don't need any kind of glue. it will hold.

    You can always run tape across the top of the candle opening to hold the wick up so you don't have 2 stand there and hold it. Or maybe even use a little bit of tacky wax on the bottom of the wick to make it stick 2 the bottom of the jar.

    If you take your WIC and wrap it around a pencil put in the middle of the glass just across the top it'll suspend it you don't have to hold it and you can continue pouring on either side of the pencil that is suspending the wick anymore melted wax to form a candle cheers from Canada

    Another advice if you got hair bands or rubber bands take two horizontally each side of the wix, and then take another side on the vertically each side of the wix to keep wax from wangling around. Next take the wax and pour little bit enough to cover the wix to keep it in place but you’ll still need to hold it down till first small amount base pour hardens. But I never thought about hot gluing the thing down.

    Why not break up the wax while it's hard, toss it all into a clean candle container, then heat the wax to get a nice smooth layer. This wouldn't work for layered candles, but for small single scent candles it would

    You could use a metal washer to hold the wick (make your own by soaking string in melted wax) and 4 chopsticks to hold the wick in place whilst the wax sets 😉

  • @bambamnj
    @bambamnj 4 года назад +2

    For holding the wick, Go to your local grocery store (if they sell sushi) or go order some Chinese food from your local place and pick up some extra chopsticks. separate the chopsticks and use one to put across the top of your candle jar. Put your wick into the jar and just wrap the top of the wick around the chopstick. You could also use a bread bag tie to fasten the wick to the chopstick, if you didn't want to wrap the wick. A comb is a nice idea as long as you don't mind getting wax all over the comb. I find a chopstick is sturdy enough to hold the wick, while being small enough to not block the mouth of the jars.

    Hi, what is the name of your wax warmer, and how long does it normally take to melt the wax?
    I've read that putting the jars in the freezer allows the wax to be removed, but you still have to melt it.. but I mistakenly bought a (Brrnoo / Haowecib) Coffee Mug Warmer because I liked the glass plate and auto shut-off. Unfortunately, it uses a 20W "PTC" heater that limits it to a constant 55C. For a small jar with just a little wax takes well over an hour... and most my used jars have the wax stuck on the sides, so I imagine it will take hours.
    Any thoughts on anything that might be quicker? For example, the Bfull Wax Warmer looks good, but I assume you'd have to use it as a hot water bath.. might as well use the stove. Perhaps a reflow hot plate? Hot-Air gun (858D)? Or one of those yogurt makers that have a temperature control (Tibek/Aicok/Suteck)?

    That’s a great idea yes there is several ways to hold up a wick while drying , ( if you guys don’t have a comb I have long hair and I need those thick brushes I don’t own a single comb. ) Use a hanger which we all have , don’t take it off the rack just place a chair 🪑 underneath it with your candle 🕯 on the chair and dangle any string from the hanger down while using any clip for hair or chip clip and it will hold your wick in place! This is great idea 💡 for candle reuse great job!

      Azariah Knight get a pot of water and put the candles in the water and boil the water and they’ll melt.

      @@drpepper4465 The only problem with using the double boiler method is that when you put a container of any type in water it bobs around so you're going to have it moving around and then you have the added problem if taking it out of the water without spilling thr wax since you won't be able to use an oven mitt. Then you'll need to pour it into the jar pretty quickly and the glass is gonna be super hot, too hot to touch where as using a candle burner doesn't have any of these issues. A candle burner is like $10 tops.

    Or you could tie your wick around a pencil or nail, etc. (depending on jar size) and let that sit across the rim of the jar so you don't have to hold the wick while the wax freezes. And then cut the wick accordingly.
    Oh, of course someone beat me to it.

    you can use a pencil to hold the wick, or buy wick holders on the internet

    Dip the base of the wick into the wax to help it stick place

    Hi! We dun have Walmart in Singapore so I was wondering if I could use a cup warmer? Do they work the same way? Or do candle warmers go up to a certain temperature?

      La-Kisha Nance-Houston you can put the jars right into a crock pot low water where it doesn’t run over or just put in microwave. I do the crockpot. 💖✨

    I dont have a wax warmer but my candle jar is massive so could I just put it in a pot thats only halfway filled with hot water on the stove ?

    • @WithLoveMarium
      @WithLoveMarium  6 лет назад

      I’ve honestly never tried that before but I’ve heard of people doing it that way so I’m sure it’s possible! If it’s a glass candle jar I think you can honestly just put it in the oven on a low setting for a few minutes and that should do the trick

    be careful putting warm wax down your sinks plughole, it can easily block it and your plumber will lol in your face when he unblocks the sink and a waft of bonnie scented candles comes up from the "blocked" sink. Didn't happen like that to me at all.

    Instead of holding your wick wrap the end around a pencil and set it on top and it will hold it perfect every time😉

    • @HeartAliveToday
      @HeartAliveToday 4 года назад

      @Kelli Stoneking - Do you have to tape the wick to hold it to the pencil? How does it stay wrapped? A wick is not a wire so how do you wrap it?

  • @Amanda-mh2cb
    @Amanda-mh2cb 4 года назад

    You could also try placing a pencil or pen across the top of your mold or container pick for the new candle and giving the wick a twist around the pen to stay om place and dry.
