Rise & Shine Skateboarding Alliance, a place to foster community and support empowerment. A place to have fun and come together. Building the community we have been yearning for, one skateboard at a time.
Created by Ashley Swinton who has been facilitating skate workshops throughout the Yukon over the last 5 years. It’s more than just skateboarding, it’s about self-motivation, confidence and having fun.
It looks like my accidental yearly trip to the Yukon has brought me many beautiful adventures with my lovely friend Ashley. After a film idea I had about her newly minted non-profit and it being due time for another visit to the Yukon, Ashley invited me to film one of her workshops, it was amazing to see the progress of these kids from the first day feeling shy, to shredding by day 3 and confidently helping their peers.
Ashley currently offers her workshops in the cities of Whitehorse and Dawson City in the Yukon, Canada. She recently hosted the very first Rise & Shine Skate Jam in Whitehorse, Yukon. It was an incredible 2 day event featuring skateboarders from all over.
