Thanks. Yes, the beetle destruction is shockingly widespread. The dead trees allowed the fire to burn on the west side of the highway for months. :-(

Our trips to the San Juans just north of Durango are becoming and annual event, people enjoy the area so much. Telluride might a little closer for you.
