Holy shit this is what motorcycle cycle videos need to be. Half the time you have no clue what they’re doing but you have taken the time to get correct angles and really show what’s going on
Always like the DYI vids. Negative on the high bars, got rid of my ape hangers because my arms went numb on long trips. Can't get into the bars in the vid, looks like a frigging' pogo stick.
Do you know why your dog always sticks his head out the window no matter how fast your going? No. You don't. Because only him and non-fairing bike riders know and he ain't said a word has he? 2004 Fatboy 16" apes.
you did so good explaining that and filming it. now I feel a lot more confident in doing this. great job on the video. until someone shows you how to do something you just feel uncomfortable performing something like this. cool.
Great cost effective upgrade sir, and love your chilled video style... I made some 8" risers for my DWG and use narrow flat drag bars on them, ..I use Solid Steel bushings in the top tree, zero twist or flex what so ever.. it gives a totally different feel, you realize how much vagueness you even get from Poly bushings... maybe try them out with your high risers, you won't believe how much more connected you feel to the steering, its so much more direct and rigid.... and NO, the vibration is no more detectable, even on a long ride..! Just a thought as you ride a hard core Dyna.. Hope it helps you Sir... cheers, and Greets from England... Del.
great vid..ive got 10'Drag bars on mine. they could be a little taller so thx for bring this extension kit to my attention. .but i think im going the try lowering the rear down 2' by swapping out a different set of shocks. that should give me the ride im looking for.
I love my beach bars but they are way to low for comfortable long rides. I'm going to try a 3-4" back swept riser first. You gave me this idea a few weeks ago when I first saw your video. I just bought this 02 Road king classic and California was put on covid 19 LOCKDOWN the very next day!! I swore 10 years ago when I sold my Honda xr650 dual sport that I WOULDN'T buy another bike until I could afford a Harley Davidson.
I rarely ever subscribe to any channel's on here, but damn; I've watched like 5 of this guy's videos in a row. This dude knows is shit about bikes, and his videos are fucking great with all the editing and what not. SUBSCRIBED
I put 18-inch apes on top of 2-inch risers on my old Dyna Wide Glide and LOVE IT. As a result my grips are about at shoulder level or maybe an inch above. My apes are angled back just slightly to allow me to take advantage of a Mustang touring seat with a driver's backrest and my lower back thanks me every single ride. Add to that the forward mount foot controls that came standard on the Wide Glide and I have never ridden such a comfortable bike; it's a lot like sitting in my easy chair.
Wow, it's a great video again. Your handlebar is shoulder-high and looks nice and comfortable. The process of replacing the handle is fun and understands the principle of the handle. You look stable when you're driving. I'm glad to be a friend of your great channel. Always stay healthy. 👍👍👍🤝🤝🤝🤙👌
I know this video’s a bit older but I’ll still ask. Am I correct in saying that while you’re installing the new risers, you ARE NOT using the old cup washers, bushings, and spacers? Those should all be leftover parts when done? Thanks for your help.
I came from Texas,.. now in Cali..what I notice is in Texas the dynas all looked different,..but here in Cali they all look the same T Bars with that fairing,..its like what's the name of that motorcycle tv show?,...
You said Austin and there is a reason they built a toll way going around that sewage pit of humanity. Its San Francisco with a different accent. Thanks I will pay the ten bucks and drop the hammer.
Hey Matt. Thanks for doing the video. I have owned 4 Harleys and it seems to me that this is the most important consideration when it comes to rider comfort. I had one set of bars fabricated but had to let them go when I moved up to a Road King. I don't know if the comfort of riding has more to do with my age or the positioning of my arms, but I always end up wanting my elbows slightly bent. I'm vertically challenged so my best option is to go with a 16" ape and lower it to roughly 45° and I feel like I'm sitting in a recliner. I get a lot. I was hoping to hear your reasoning for wanting to ride with your arms straight with elbows locked in basically. I'm not sure if that is a position based on comfort, riding style or better in terms of control of the bike itself. Thanks in advance.
Hi Robert, thanks for your comment. I'd be lying if I didn't tell you the look is one of the major considerations for which handlebars I put on a given bike. That said, I find it more comfortable to have bars that keep me in a more upright position. It may not come across well in the video, but with the new handle bar height, I have a slight bend in my elbows. My arms aren't locked. I find this to be the most comfortable position for the long haul. Later this year I have videos coming where I describe different seat, and different peg options which also provide comfort (and style) for the long haul. Happy trails...
Currently have RK fat beach bars. Thought about getting 14" apes. It's a question between my wrists and back pain. I have a 3 level cervical titanium fusion and bad lower back. Wondering if level arm position like what you're doing here, is better for my back or worse than arms down position I have now. Hard to know until they're on and I'm on a long ride.
My old bikes used to have pretty low stock handle bars. My current bike (street bob with stock apes) is - at least for me - far more comfortable than my old bikes. I used to get neck pain, but not anymore.
Great videos man👍🏻, looking to get those bars for my lowrider s. I’m 5ft 10inches. Looking for style and comfort for long rides. Do you think 12in would be good??
They are by Leather Pros. Not cheap at $699, but great bags... they expand when you need to haul a big load. leatherpros.com/retro-series-v2-dyna-saddlebags/
What is the price range you would pay for a used 06 Dyna street bob with 11k miles? Comes with high riser handle bars and bassani exhaust. Thank you for your time. Great videos
Thanks for the video but I think your bars were high enough The Way They Were your bike but I would have not added to 2 in or any more rise at all it gets to a point where it ruins the lines of the bike and all you see is handlebars up in the air I like my bars up to but nothing like that
Lol. A year later and Ive decided the stock height mini-apes is rather nice for my 5’10”. Without a fairing it’s not great for long cruises at highway speeds but love it for agiertet rides

Dyna Bros don't ride a thousand miles in a month! Comfort and functionality is irrelevant to these kids. In fact the entire Harley scene will be irrelevant to the Dyna Bros soon. Not so hip to the bars, but your demeanor, detail, capture angles, voice over and edit are superb. And there's that splitting' traffic like a boss!
Always like the DYI vids. Negative on the high bars, got rid of my ape hangers because my arms went numb on long trips. Can't get into the bars in the vid, looks like a frigging' pogo stick.
pogo stick... that's funny. They do look like a pogo stick.
Granite City Riders sick bike bro- what bike is that in the video and what handlebars are those ?
@@GraniteCityRiders just need a fairing to cover them up
Just a big shout out to you for all the very helpful videos which have been v very helpful throughout my modifications. Thank you!
To each their own. Another 2 inches and you can stand on the seat and ride it like a jet ski.
I like my hands tucked in behind the fairing, not up in the air exposed to the wind. It may not be "cool", but it's warmer on long trips.
Gabby Hayes Ever heard of hand guards 🤷🏻♂️

perfect lane splitting bars

T bars were around long long before the show. To each there own for me it's the ergonomics and ride comfort.

do the handle bars set on top of riser extension or inside the cup of the extension?

Before you rag on other bars please note how cheap and out of place your bars look.
Noted. The look of a bike is highly subjective... i get it.
Well that's the wonderful thing about bikes. It's all about the rider. Some people prefer higher bars, others lower.
