yeah, the way things have gone there the past few years, it's easy to see why this choice was made. I can't think of any player that was able to stay on the field last year. Rengifo?
As a Jays fan, I knew he wasn't coming. As a baseball fan, I will root for his success with the Dodgers. As with most Asians, we follow wherever he goes. Sorry Angels but it was a fun 6 years.
Even though i have to wait longer to hear what Shohei said, it sures makes it worthwhile to wait for Ippei to start translating. I almost believe Ippei is just making some words up for the American audience 😅
I'm so used to seeing Shohei in Angels uniform, it looks strange seeing him in blue. Angeles have the best uniforms. Shohei lost weight. Cant wait to see him play.
Understanding some words in a sentence doesnt mean you know English. Wtf is wrong with people who think that. I live in Japan, i can speak a bit but everything thinks I know 100% because i understand some things. Crazy
im his fan..sad he leaving..but i really wanna see him on playoff and world series...i dont wanna him end up like ichiro...he archives so many but never get a ring
I am Japanese myself and would like to see Shohei Otani win. I'm glad he moved to a team that can win. He had negotiations with the Angels at the end, and he still wanted to stay, but the owners didn't see eye to eye, so I don't blame them.
I don't know that Arte is really willing to do what is needed for the Angeles to really be competitive for the post season, much less make a legit Series run. Honestly, if he was, he would have unloaded Shohei for several kings ransoms in trades, picks, trade picks, whole farm teams, you name it.
One concern I have is Dodger Stadium is one of the most pitcher friendly parks. He likely will hit less home runs than when he was an Angel. The problem with Dodger Stadium is with the L.A. desert climate, temperature drops quickly after the sun sets. Somehow, this causes a draft to blow inward from the outfield in late innings on night games, causing what is normally a home run to become a routine fly ball. Angel Stadium just 40 miles south doesn't have this issue is much. Ohtani, Betts, and Freeman should request the Dodgers to redesign the outfield bleachers to reduce that late inning draft and at least make Dodger Stadium pitcher/hitter neutral which will allow Dodgers to sign more sluggers in the future. Some sluggers don't want to join the Dodgers for this reason.
It actually is a lot more neutral than what you are saying. And both sides of the outfield have very low walls to the pull side. And with Ohtani’s power the wind draft won’t matter much. And I believe angels stadium has farther dimensions than dodger stadium.
@@beastly2823Angel stadium has longer and deeper dimensions than dodger stadium at 350 and 347 down the lines and 396 and 400 to center but the ball travels well in Anaheim. Not so much at Dodger Stadium.
Ohtani is paid 2 Million per year, and then fully paid in the end of contract. Inflation adjusted, 680 millions in 2033 is going to be lower than current value. John Fisher playbook on players contract. I kind of suspect Dodgers don't have that much amount, which realistically his teammates should not have very high contract in his few last contract years unless dodgers taking loan to pay him, which the playbook is to avoid loan..
I'm waiting for someone to ask him about the possibility of transitioning from starting pitcher... to maybe middle relief or a closer? Would this maybe cut down on the "wear and tear?"
pitching in relief means he has to go to the bullpen and go back in forth while in the game DH ing. And he would have to do that everyday, as opposed to only on starting pitching days. That would be much more of a wear and tear, man. Aint gonna happen.
Love Shohei. He is always nice and humble. He has respect towards everyone. True sportsman
Exactly
Let’s see how good he is under pressure
Impressed with the interviewer. She is a professional & polite. Good luck to all - Dodgers + Fans + Shohei from a Met Fan NYC
She asked Shohei the best questions, great job Kirsten
yea way better than the press conference questions
I was going to say the same thing. This interview was great
This was the best she’s ever been w/the Dodgers. It was pretty rough her first year, but Kirsten is def improving!
Was thinking the same thing, great questions and great interview.
Except for the extra head bobbing, but I suppose I would do it too
I mainly watch Boxing, NFL, and NBA. This man is the single reason i now tune into MLB.
Me too 😊

Love Shohei. Yes he is indeed a Dodger but will always be an Angel as well. LA is lucky to have Shohei.
Much better questions than the press conference.

Shohei's shy character is healing?
It's the first time I've seen he's looking straight at the face of a female caster during the interview.
He used to stare female reporters straight in the eye in Japan though.
Did he not do that when he was with the Angels?
Shohei is more stoic than shy and has always been cautious since he was targeted by many female reporters in Japan.
This reporter has prepared her assignment well, and Shohei pays respect, attending to her questions. He treated her as a reporter, not as a female.
