Nick, you seem wistful as if pre-pining for past glory days associated with this build and a feeling of loss for direction and motivation. I hope the mood passes and that all is well in your life.
"Friedkin Good News", goes the punned headline . . .
    PoI's:
    1) Stephen and I had seen the large yellow, telescopic crane located on the SW Quay of Nelson Dock, on the other side of the bridge from the LoR Car Park, not the NW Quay of Nelson Dock/SW Quay of BMD. But as it's a mobile crane the chances of it still being sat there at the time you visited were highly unlikely too. I think the crane had been used to lift the chunky Black Posts into position for the Wind-Baffle structure on the SW concourse.
    2) I am copying in here my other responses to Q's about the Wind Baffle Structures, which have a bit more detail . .
"Well, the Visualisations aren't all that helpful as they're loaded with artistic licence, in regard to the definitive final plans to be enacted.
At first, the layout of the Western Terrace was a complete full-height brick-facade extension of the West Stand almost up to the water Channel and with a Multi-Storey Car Park on the
West Quay too. That overall concept had brick flying buttresses off the West Stand extension, as you'd expect to see at a cathedral, but the 'mass' was rejected.
The result of the mass rejection was broadly the design we see now but the visualisations in the Sept 2020 plans did not have the Wind Baffle 'Gates' showing at all, so there's been
doubt as to whether they WOULD make an appearance finally. Some off-shoot visualisations DID show them.
I have access to the plans that show the following:
    A) Wind Baffle Gates at both ends of the 'mezzanine', with the NW end being a smaller combination than at the SW corner.
    B) As can be seen now, the SW structure will comprise: 1) nearest the Mezzanine, a 5m wide pair of hinged gates, which will be made of dark-grey aluminium at a 50% porosity, 2) in
both the middle section and outer sections, there will be 10m wide roller shutters made of the same material: dark-grey aluminium with 50% porosity.
    C) At the NW end the structure will comprise: 1) next to the northern perimeter fence, a 5m wide pair of hinged gates in dark-grey aluminium with a 50% porosity and 2) next to the
mezzanine corner, a 8m roller shutter in the same material, of course.
    D) In addition at the NW end, the drawings show that they'll add an overhead cover over the rectangular area defined by the new gates structure, the edge of the north end of the
mezzanine, the NW corner of the Brick Facade and the North perimeter fencing, with the paneling being . . . . you guessed it, dark-grey aluminium at 50% porosity. Personally I hope they
don't do this last feature as I think it will attract a lot of birds and their muck.
    3) They are getting on quickly with the under-structure for what should be composite decking on the Lower Promenade, which will mimic wood, and therefore, the appearance of a jetty.
    4) The mass layout of protective 'matting' in the SE area of the East Plaza, suggests they're going to be busy with equipment in that area soon enough. About time. They have plenty to do, in that corner including the southernmost Regent Road Tower Gate area and along the wall. they will have to remove the temporary units at some point too, in order to lay the granite and cobbles in those areas.
    5) At 7:40 mins and later, it's noticeable how the barricades on the West Quay get progressively taller going northwards, particularly in front of the DNOC (aka "Media Centre"). Now IF I had a hand in it, I'd be making sure those taller barriers had the gaps between the posts filled with EFC 'Imagery' fencing.
    6) The pairs of Companion Seats on the Accessibility Platforms first appeared in the NE corner about 2 weeks ago and they've been adding the others since. It was pointed out in previous PoI's.
    7) It looked as though they've completed the spreading of the sand, under-soil layer for the pitch itself. Next up, a soil layer.

The wind baffle gate structure that you highlight at 6:30. I recall seeing a similar structure in earlier CGI videos, but without actual gates. I had thought it would be a kind of vertical wind blower (can't think of the proper name for such a device) to act as an air barrier. The gates you refer to, don't appear on any earlier EFC videos, and up until now, they have been very accurate with their CGI drawings,

Neil: this has been a repetitive Q since Nov 2023.
At 16:26 mins in this video, if you look closely at the walkway through the trusses of the North Stand (look behind and in line with the top of the big screen at this specific timestamp) you can see clusters of 4 spotlights mounted on the front edge of the walkway. They look a bit like ANPR cameras with aluminium cowls. LED lights are so powerful these days that the mountings can be so small. The walkway goes right around the roof trusses of all four stands and the spotlights are all in clusters of 3-5.
Although they will have tested them individually for connection, they haven't tested them all as a group for actual light effect, as they will need equipment located on the pitch to do the audit for equal brightness across the whole area. They can't do that until the pitch is no longer fettered by equipment and ongoing work, I think.
Watch this space for the first full-on testing, probably in the next month or so.

    • @davidbadcock2225
      @davidbadcock2225 Месяц назад +2

Richard: this will be a lengthy reply.
Let's start from the NW corner, above the Pitch Access Tunnel, before going clockwise.
      1) The south/left hand half of the glazed area is for the Stadium Security Hub. The North/Right-hand half of the glazed area is for the TV Studio.
      2) The long platform at the tier-gap that exists for about two thirds of the N Stand is for Accessibility Function, so you should expect to see pairs of Companion Seats fitted there.
      3) The NE corner has a break in the tier division format as it's where the Away Fans are located right up to the back, so there is a form of open corridor at the back wall.
      4) At the start of the E Stand the first quarter is for E Stand Hospitality Accessibility function, so expect to see pairs of Companion Seats there.
      5) The central half of the E Stand is for E Stand Corporate/Hospitality Boxes, so it will have plush seats in front of the glazed area.
      6) The last quarter of the E Stand is like the first quarter of the E Stand, and is for E Stand Hospitality Accessibility function, so expect to see pairs of Companion Seats there.
      7) The S Stand is merely a wall, of course, as you know.
      8) For the first section of the S end of the W Stand will have a short stretch of Companion Seats for W Stand Hospitality Accessibility function. the first quarter of the Glazed area is for W Stand Corporate Boxes that have only seats on the platform in front of them.
      9) The central half of the W Stand houses more expensive Corporate and VIP Boxes with the advantage of bigger numbers of attendees. They have a small patio area but also a large number of seats on the terraces below the patio too, above the Directors and Super VIP boxes.
      10) The last quarter of the W stand, at the N end, will be like a mirror-image of that listed in #8 above.

Not much scope to do that, any expansion will be centred on "Safe Standing" being approved at a higher ratio than the current 1 Standing spot to 1 Seated spot = 1:1 ratio.
If the UK government approve a 3:2 ratio, the lower stands could go to safe standing and add up to an extra 9000 spots, total = 62,000, but that's optimistic and might never happen.

Sincerely hope this is the moment for Everton. We deserve to have a change in fortune. Let's hope although funds will not necessarily able to be used to buy players because of PSR rules, just the advertising and promotional business in USA alone will bring in lots of revenue re kit sales. We just haven't concentrated on that side of Everton business in the past. Trust Friedkin will certainly aim for that.

Long time no speak, Nothing. I couldn't agree more with your sentiment.
If TFG write off the debt by converting it into Equity (in short that means paying off the debt with their own cash), then the club will gain by not paying out several 10's of £M's of interest per year. That alone will mean a huge reduction in costs and therefore much more flexibilty on players salaries and fees, as the PSR rules are likely to be superseded by UEFA FFP rules throughout the EPL too. So the future will be driven by turnover, rather than losses and profits. This is why the new stadium is crucial in the future financial ranking structure, as EFC will be in the upper half of EPL income, irrespective of how well the team are doing, particularly if they can pull off a whole lot of increased sponsorship too (My guess is that Toyota will be being leaned on now . . .).

Stephen: the rain from the standing-seam roof travels east or west into the gutters that lie between the standing-seam roof and the barrel-cladding. The suction drains take the water down to and through the concrete roof, joined by the water that collates at the back of the concrete roof after falling though the barrel-cladding, then down the inside of the brick facade structure in columns and is directed to the Rain Harvesting Tanks located under the East Plaza, between the Pump House and the NE corner of the stadium.
Any excess and all of the groundwater is collected and travels in pipes to exit at the hole you can no longer see clearly in the Seacant wall below the centre of the Lower Promenade of the West Plaza, into the Water Channel.

Jonathan: Dunc states it correctly but I am a bit surprised that through all of this project you have not been aware of the Architect's plan that every perspective and stand should NOT be symmetrical, sterile and lacking in character. The asymmetry is intentional not some unintentional accident. It tries to move away from the off-the-shelf designs found all over the world and mimics the old grounds, where all the stands differ because they developed organically.
The N and S ends were designed to be hemmed in with the N end literally spatially-hemmed in and the S end metaphorically-hemmed in. It's part of the design to create intimacy with the pitch to help create the intimidating, raucous crowd and imposition.
Apart from that, it would be nonsense to assume that TFG would be foolish enough to throw poor returns money at the stadium when it has yet to make a return on this basis current form. I reckon it will need a minimum of five years to get the club back into its rightful position of constant top 6, more likely a decade as others will not be standing still either.

Around 9:00 when your showing the digger, what are the black bars on the floor between the canal and blue flag stones?
Are they there for wood decking to go on?
