True story. While playing drums in a cover band in the mid nineties I saw these guys on MuchMusic. I was in my hotel room after a show in Lethbridge Alberta and was tired of playing other peoples songs. After seeing their video I learned they were from Vancouver and said to myself 'I'm going to Vancouver, somehow find these guys and befriend them, immerse myself in the music scene there, and see what happens'. So I did. Quit the cover band and went on my own. Once in Vancouver, and without knowing any of this, an old friend introduced me to a guitar player he thought I would gel with. So, I went over with a case of Budweiser and met this guy at his house. He lived in a basement suite right near Broadway and Kingsway and the ceilings were only 6 feet high. I ducked in and we began to talk about our musical philosophies.
About ten minutes after I arrived another band started rehearsing right above our heads so loud that we could no longer talk so I shouted to him "There is another band rehearsing upstairs?!" And he replied "Yeah, you've probably never heard of them, but they're signed to Sony, they're called Salvador Dream!!" I almost fell over. I was sold. Less than a week after coming to Vancouver I serendipitously ran head-on right into them!! So, we started jamming over the next few months and Ray and the boys would stick there heads in our rehearsals occasionally to encourage us, "That's it! Keep playing like that boys!" etc. Ray even would come down and we'd smoke joints together and hang out. I even got to play his beautiful Gretsch kit on a couple of occasions(!) Truly blessed I was.
A couple of years back I was deeply saddened to hear of Rays passing - Rest in Peace Ray, you were an inspiration to me brother. The last time I saw the boys was when they played with K-OS at Stanley Park amphitheater. To this day I still have drum magazines with Ray on the cover. And thanks for the share Cornelius!! I miss those days immensely and this is great to listen to. Salvador Dream solidly passes the test of time huh? They should've been huge. In my opinion, Our Lady Peace took their place in history.

this is the sleeper can-rock album of that era...way ahead of it's time and original...heavy and peaceful at the same time.

This is easily one of my favourite albums of all time. Saw them in Winnipeg with Our Lady Peace, maybe around 95. My band was lucky enough to open the night. Salvador Dream completely stole the show and has been a HUGE influence ever since.

After almost 30 years of trying to get this album on CD, I found a factory sealed copy on Discogs for a few dollars. Stain was played on MTV's Alternative Nation and I fell in love with it instantly and was livid that UR got no UK release. The CD arrived today and was worth the wait. The unlisted 12th track is called Rodent. Today was a good day.

Thank you for posting the full album.i had the compact when I was 16.not a big band but smokin album and ahead of its time.theres been nil music other than like two vids and minimal Live stuff from them.much thanks and respect.music is life.from an old punk with a young heart.predacessors of all the music mainstream TV society has formed and molded to love.anything that help mend the broken, put love in hearts and overcome lifes obstacles and for just pure enjoyment and happiness and understanding and thirst or curiosity of where life can take u and a quest for knowledge and experience to better ourselves and the ones around us if we'll can..this is you are doing in your way.this is true soc media.thank u all out there.so many amazing underdog albums out there that are crazygood.to hard to pick.just love to em all.sorry for the long rant. I just want the youth of today to grasp their importance to themselves and as our future and where there steps will take this world in a positive direction.like this paragraph im now done.i leave the rest to people like u.many thanks.

I saw SD at the Volcano Nightclub in Kitchener Ontario right after they released this album. Deadly mosh pit...great band and show. Too bad UR was the only full length release they ever had. Incredible sound.

I also eventually lost this CD. I knew I couldn't get another copy so I protected with my life...but then I probably got drunk and left it in someone's CD player because I still had the case. So glad to see this here. One of the albums I owned where I loved every single song!

Thanks so much for posting this album!
I used to take drum lesssons from Ray at the Rockshop down on beatty/cambie when I was learning to play. Ray helped me with posture, stick control and rudiments. It was awesome to be able to watch, learn and be taught by such a monster drummer. Of the dozen or so SD shows I've seen a real standout show was seeing Salvador Dream at the Town Pump for the UR album release party. My bass-player buddy (who was taking lessons from Chris Tarry at the time) and I were completely blown away by the album with Unborn and Rodent flooring us with the smooth power and unexpected transitions. Killer. Another amazing even was when the SD boys were performing as Namedropper at the Chameleon off Georgia St. I was so amazed and impressed how they could switch gears to essentially become a legit drum and bass band that truly slammed.
I was quite sad to learn of Ray's passing some years ago. Thanks for posting this up as I couldn't find it on Spotify. You made my day!

I saw them open for Our Lady Peace in Victoria back in the day. Naveed Tour. SD was the highlight. The drummer was a super nice guy. I can't find the CD. My original is lost in the void, which is a shame. Great band.

I saw them at that gig in Victoria too, at Harpo's! I used to share a rehearsal studio with Ray Garraway, the drummer. He would later drum with K-OS but I had the joy of watching him with Namedropper and Blind God at Vancouver venues too. In my opinion as a drummer, his style is very unique especially with Blind God. Google these names and type in more key words if the bands don't show right away! RIP Ray. The old guard of Vancouver drummers, and others love you.
