Can you test versus Legion Go, Ally X, Other 8840u handheld?
Just ally x, the 84wh battery is a heavy plus. Legion go vs x1- x1 wins (either variant).
I wish I got the chance, unfortunately I had to pass it forward to.tje next person already. I'll have more tests once i can purchase a 8840u
So happy to see these reviews. Great job on both. I was surprised you liked the controllers, because that right thumbstick looks unusable to me. It's the main reason I haven't pulled the trigger on the X1.
I think honestly it’s the games I play, I don’t often have to swap between joysticks and buttons. After reading a few comments I tried the controller again and can see where people are coming from. I think I’m just used to playing on handhelds and the Nintendo switch that I’ve adapted
Okay you talked me into it. I just ordered the X1 10.9" Cant wait!
Nice! Hopefully you enjoy it. I enjoy the larger x1 mostly because of the laptop mode being pretty decent.
Great review. Looking forward to my X1 Mini shipping
Yeah it’s a pretty cool device. I am mailing onward to another guy today, so further testing from me will be delayed until my personal one I’m planning to buy comes in (probably larger X1)
Thanks a lot for your reviewing!! 🤩
No problem, thank you for the opportunity
That is one sexy handheld that X1 Mini! I like the balance between how more convenient that it can be as a gaming handheld while still retaining a good essence of being a laptop and a tablet. Great video, thanks!
Thanks man, yeah it was a cool device to try out
Other improvements many of us have discussed in Discord we would like to see for the X2 or later generation X series.
- built in kickstand - like the Legion Go or Microsoft Surface Go
- 8TB internal SSD support AND 8TB expandable slot support
- bigger trackpad on keyboard - if possible, haptics like the MacBook and better spread-out touch
- USB-C placement bottom side left of the device for in laptop use, top top left (to allow bigger controller), the right-side USB-A and micro-SD slot may also need to be moved bottom side right and top top right.
USB 4.2 hopefully would be available by then with its purported 80Gbps speed meaning occulinc no longer required and freeing up physical space on the top of the device for those USB-C/A placements.
Those all sound pretty good. Only challenge with trackpad right now is the accidental presses when I hit space bar at times
did you try the gape on 1080p or 720p? what was the performance there?
Can you choose in the BIOS Vram Assignation? and fully use the 32 Go of RAM?
Good review. Keep up the great work.
Thanks man, appreciate the kind words
Appreciate the review! 😎
Thank you! I'm glad I had the opportunity to review it.
Thanks 😊 great test thanks for your great test !
No problem man, glad you enjoyed it.
Nice review !
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent video!! I have a quick question tho, does your controller connector discharge battery at an alarming rate? Mine can be fully charged and set aside and left unused for a few days and as soon as i turn it on the light is flashing indicating super low battery power
I had noticed that my connector had died a couple of times. Later I fully charged it and then it seemed fine. I will say I did not get a chance to test that part out further. I'll have to see with my Intel X1 if that is the case with the connector
@@okestgamer ya I mean it's kinda nuts how much of the battery gets discharged without it even being used, going unused a couple of days after being freshly fully charged and as soon as I turn it on the blue light starts flashing in those 1/2 sec intervals to indicate super low battery, it's kinda disheartening and a real bummer 😞
@@According2AshShow I’ll give this a test. I’m wondering if yours is defective or if it’s a larger issue.
@@okestgamer exactly what I've been wondering also, I was hoping to get a better sense of it after asking about ur experience with it, pls lemme kno the results of ur research after the experiment is complete 🤓😂
great review!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for your honest review
No problem, glad you enjoyed
1Net simply needs to make better controllers for the X1 - We've all discussed this in the discord.
Basically copy the Steam deck layout - Bigger controls allows for better spacing, alignment (especialy for D-pad and right thumbstick). better balance for the whole unit because it is both top and bottom heavy.
The new controls allow for = 2 x trackpads, 4 x back buttons/pedals
would like 1Net to sell either as premium extras (don't be afraid to charge significantly more)
- have 4 x shoulder buttons (still keep 2 x triggers)
- have 4 x macro buttons next to the 4 x shoulder buttons (something similar to Ayaneo's handhelds)
- blue tooth
If at all possible can be used without a bridge connector.
quality test to make sure of a sturdy connection to the tablet and not loose like many of us are experiencing.
Charge a lot more if needed.
This is a premium top of the top handheld after all.
I personally was cool with the controllers but after reading some comments I can see where people are coming from. I purposely didn’t watch any reviews or read input from others before the review to go in blind. I would personally like a little thicker grips
For me a big issue I've had with many handhelds is the placement of the right thumbstick. I find it too low on most of them. I had an Ayaneo in the past and for me the right thumstick placement was it's biggest minus. Looking at the placement on this OneXPlayer is reason enough for me to not get one. I currently own a Steam Deck Oled and a Legion Go and I find the ergonomics perfect on both.
Definitely.
They don't test these enough and yes the X1 right tumbstick is too low and directly under.
It's meant to be off center and higher up, this allows thumbs to more naturally shift left and right between buttons and thumb stick as well as not having to reach over the right thumbstick to access the buttons.
Also same for Dpad because for fighting games, especially with the 10.95' X1 you have to bring your thumb really down for those lower half circle motions.
Also if the controllers were made bigger it allows for better space
the select and start buttons are too close to the keyboard and desktop button that one can accidentally press the wrong ones.
Also if the controllers were made bigger if fits the looks of the size of the whole unit too instead of looking like a tablet with a couple small xbox controllers attached...which it kind of is.
I really want the X1, but this is my hangup. I don't want to tear my right thumb ligaments while playing.
Same, this is the one reason holding me back from an x1 mini
Both X1's are too clunky looking for my tastes. I still love my og gpd win mini. Hope somebody designs upgraded sticks, they get the job done but I feel they can be improved. I mean they are the same as the Win Max2.
720p fsr quality is sweet spot for handheld gaming...
Depends on the game. I’ve been using the FSR 3 mod for a lot of my games when I play.
Naw 1080p makes a huge difference, stop selling yourself short with things you heard from some tech magazines to make people feel better about not getting 1080p on their 800 dollar portable.
@@sloth1992 handhelds cant handle new games at 1080p hence I said that... and even with frame gen you need atleast a locked 30 to get a smooth 60... 720p or Even 900p with 30 fps lock and lsfg is good for now... all these handheld consoles will get obsolete in a year or two with new demanding games coming in
Nice review. The connector required for the off-console controller is really dumb. The idea is good, but the overall design is really bad.
Personally I like the feel of the controller on the connector, it's just oddly light compared to most controllers
i ordered the mini
Nice! I’m leaning towards the larger X1 personally.
Can you confirm that the X1 non-mini has VRR FreeSync?
Apparently is doesn't.
@@NoMoreLies365 eta prime did a video which shows it does
I can take a look
what is linux support like?
That part I haven't tested. I would suggest checking with the chimera team in their discord. Most likely they will know
x1 mini or win mini 2024?
I can’t speak to the win mini, but it does look pretty cool.
Im poor 😢.. You almost had all the gaming handheld im in awe.
pretty sure that wasn't baldur's gate ☠
It was the latest patch that introduced guns 😆. Thanks for pointing it out, I totally missed updating that title for Halo
No Iron Pikachu Colorway, NO DEAL.
Okay I've reconsidered, now that BG3 is an FPS.
I see no reason why they couldn't have had a bigger battery on the bigger model
My guess would be weight, but it would be cool to have a larger battery.
4real if the dog ally x can do 80wh the next version of the 11" needs to have a 80-99wh.
@@antwoneb.9829 for real
cost
@@draco2xx naw thats not a real reason
How much?
Starting at $949 USD on the campaign page
Are you out of your mind? 1500 buckaroos??!?
They start at $949 USD. What currency are you looking at?
@@okestgamer Ohh yeah my fault, I was looking at the intel one. The amd one starts at $1,089.00. It's still too expensive. I got my used 512gb steam deck for 250eur.
Too much resolution for that chip…
Not a problem with FSR. Smaller resolution is grainy on miniature text in Rpgs.
Is this a joke? You review a handheld and only test it plugged in at 30 w? No word about the noise of the fans?
No it's not a joke lol, it's a early first look review.
With this review I get the device for a short period to do some testing and filming so the more detailed performance tests will need to wait until I get my device I'm purchasing. Fan noise is also entirely dependent on what settings you use, and if you set a custom fan curve. Closest comparison I can make is with the legion Go for the noise.
First look reviews are literally that, a first look and some early testing. Detailed reviews I only put out after using a device for awhile to actually test it out fully.
I suggest joining on of the weekly live streams hosted in the onexplayer discord to get more specific questions answered. I also hosted one for a couple of hours where we had gone through answering questions people had.
Looks like an April fools product.
I think for the price over 1K for the last generation 780M graphics just isn’t worth it wait for the new AMD strix point
I get that, they seem to refresh every 6 months. I’ve been doing RUclips for just over a year and I started when the 6800 came out for handhelds, Now we have the 8840. Things move quick.
Lets go @OKestGamer 🔥 ..... One think i do HATE is when people do game testing with FSR, DLSS or XESS Enabled. It really doesn't represent the true performance of the console.
I try to do a mix of keeping settings basic, but also representing how people will actually use the device. Main thing is being transparent about settings
@@okestgamer Its good to get the real performance of the console and maybe do a separate segments with enhancement, this is a flaw lots of reviewers do.
@@nitmare64I’m calling FSR an enchantment from now on, thank you! 🪄
A lot of gamers will use some form of upscaling or frame gen whenever they are gaming on a PC handheld (at least in demanding AAA titles). That's simply because the SoC's are somewhat lacking when it comes to overall performance and the low amount of frame rates they typically put out. One saving grace about using upscaling on them, is that any artifacting that you typically get from using it, is far less visually noticible on thier smaller displays, than it is on a larger display.
If anything, it's actually showing a good application of using upscaling. It's the kind of situation where upscaling should actually be used and where it is hugely beneficial for that extra boost to frame rates that it gives.
So since most people will be using it, why on Earth wouldn't you show the typical kind of performance results that gamers could expect, when using it?
Yep, I'd agree with you on a gaming/desktop PC with a dedicated GPU, where upscaling really isn't a nessesity and will often greatly skew any results. But on an PC heldheld, where upscaling is often a nessesity and where most people will likely be using it anyway, then I personally have no quarms when a review then shows off results, while using it.
