Once again... keep seeing this comment everywhere ... this trailer IS effective and interesting cuz it shows they changed the ENTIRE climax of the story so its not a true remake/adaptation by any means so now theres NO way of knowing who will survive and who wont.

I've never read the book, did see the first movie though.... plus I get all the references other shows/movies/cartoons/etc etc. But man, what a stupid trailer.... showing the entire movie...... AND right in order too. smh.

It works really well tbh. I'm a big fan of the original film and the book but the change is very gruesome and makes the whole thing much darker somehow.

The trailer problem is a symptom of the times. The cost of making movies has increased to the point that studios are desperate to get asses in seats
Until this trailer, everyone was under the false impression that this was a by-the-books remake and now this trailer reveals that the climax of the movie will be the complete opposite of what it was in the book/1989 version. So now that its been revealed that they've remade a movie but changed everything midway through the story, we really have no idea who will survive and who will die. I ... pretty much NEVER go into remakes wondering things like that. So I'd say this trailer was well-done and effective.

Can't agree more, trailer is suppose to be an art, I got into trailer so much when i was younger, and I used to dream of that I can work as a trailer editor when I grew up. Trailer is suppose to be teasing, it draws your attention without spoiling the audiences.

Think "90 seconds rule". American trailers are two and a half minute long. It's generally the last minute (generally when the mood changes) that ruins everything.

@@prodigalbrock Dude, they gave away a huge twist that it's their daughter, not the little boy Gage. Her death probably would have been a big surprise in the movie, not anymore though.

Right? Trailers are awful nowadays. It used to be they were edited well enough that it kept things mysterious. We still had a reason to go see the movies. Now? Almost every modern trailer gives away the entire movie. Doesn't matter what genre either. It's really disappointing, IMO.

@@derplaga -- It really is a lost art. Trailers are also way too long now. The ideal length should be a little over a minute. We don't need 2 minutes to sell us on a movie. If you can't advertise your film within 60 seconds, then something is wrong.
Either they give everything or barley anything away, the first trailer for let semetary was a perfect balance in between.
But I hate stuff like "the killing of sacred deer" or this. You need to give me a reason to see it and get me interested, without giving away major plot points. Too little or too much and it takes the hype away

Come on pal ,I feel like I read this comment every year, either I died and I'm living in purgatory forced to relive the same day over & over ,or people just love to say "it shows to much and gave the plot away" with every damn trailer that comes out.

I think it's good changing it slightly from the original. Gives people something different to expect (even if it is just a remake)

It's not going to happen in this one. King didn't want anything to do with the 1989 movie unless it followed the book exactly. They didn't follow the book this time by the looks of it, so I doubt that King would want anything to do with it.
NES Warrior 1982 actually they said they followed more but kill the daughter instead of the son, I hope they keep the original Timmy Bateman story instead of changing it like the movie in 1989

@@ryhi5 -- Really? I think the greatest horror story belongs to any Hitchcock film. Because when you read "The Shining" and then see the movie, the movie is pretty disappointing. There are great individual scenes, but as a whole... the movie leaves a lot to be desired.
Agreed they ruined his story completely when they changed who dies. Why would they do this to my favorite King movie/story?

So, i guess Gage is not the one who is coming back, then? I dont know if that makes it better or worse because Gage gave me nightmares for weeks. And i felt like this trailer showcased the entire story. I am still hyped though
When Hollywood tries to bring a classic movie back to life THEY DON'T COME BACK THE SAME.
Beautiful cinematography, excellent character design, great cast. Just loved what is seen in this trailer.

I would have rather had Gage be the one to die( like in the book and movie) because little evil boys are way more creepier then a little evil girls.
Lilly Hugo. Yup. Also, the whole point of the story is Louis losing his ONLY son. There's nothing that comes close to that, not even a daughter. If they had made it where Rachel buries Ellie then it would have worked better and made more sense but they shouldn't have changed it anyway.
So little girl finds Pet Sematary, Old Dude is like oh that's not ordinary place, the Natives said it's dangerous, it brings things back to life. Cat get's brought back, baits little girl into following her down the road, little girl gets hit by truck and dies. Dad goes crazy over loss of daughter, buries her. She comes back to life, seems normal at first, but over the course of the movie becomes crazier and more sadistic. Now they've got a crazy psycho zombie daughter, and the mom is trying to survive, all while the Dad naturally goes insane. That's pretty much the whole movie I'm guessing. Probably ends with the Mom dying too and then the full insane dad has a little zombie family when he brings her back too.
Although I'm skeptical about this film...and I'm totally in love with how you just shredded this trailer, lol...what would be cool and different is if Ellie kills Gage, buries him in Pet Sematary, and he still comes back to life. I also do hope they include the wife dying and Louis burying her as well...that "darling" scene always gets me in the original.
If they do the darling scene they should cut it to black like in the book. No knife grab.

@@Clow00 I really hate this change, the original novels whole marketing was based off of how taboo the subject matter was. I feel like they changed it because people would be too offended these days. Also the novel took its themes about death and grief pretty seriously. It was a far more somber and depressing story than it was scary, and it took it's time to build up to the actual horror (and it paid off). The original movie hit all the right story beats, but the acting and directing really brought it down to b horror levels. This new direction they are taking the story just doesn't sit well with me, and makes me feel as if the writers didn't take the source material very seriously.

I think his name is Victor pavlow or something to that effect. He's a student involved in a hit and run at the college where the dad is a doctor. When he's examining Victor, he has a vision of Victor coming back and warning him away from the pet semetary because "the ground up there has gone sour."
