Steve Albini, Storied Producer and Icon of the Rock Underground, Dies at 61

  • Steve Albini, the prolific musician, producer and audio engineer, has died. He was 61.
    Albini fronted the underground rock bands Big Black and Shellac, but was perhaps best known for his production and engineering work on classic albums including Nirvana’s In Utero, Pixies’ Surfer Rosa and PJ Harvey’s Rid of Me.
    His death from a heart attack has been confirmed by staff at his Chicago studio, Electrical Audio, reports Pitchfork.Legendary recording engineer Steve Albini, who worked on albums such as In Utero, Surfa Rosa, Rid Of Me and countless others, has reportedly died of a heart attack aged 61.
    Albini’s band Shellac were due to go on tour in 2024 in support of their upcoming record To All Trains, due to be released next week.Albini first courted attention in the 1980s with punk rock outfit Big Black, who released two albums before parting ways. He then went onto form Rapeman, who released Two Nuns and a Pack Mule in 1988, and Albini later shared his regret over their band name. Since 1992, he has been a member of Shellac.
    With Shellac, who are the heaviest of all bands that Albini was involved in, he released five albums and their sixth record is set for release posthumously later this month.

    well selling out starts out young i remember meeting A kid playing his guitar singing i told him a white lie i
    told him he was good and should do certain things to broaden his career it back fired it blew me away as much as i refused the kid he was begging me to be his manager and he would not take no for an answer in the end to shake him off my foot in the end i had come clean tell him i was lying to make him feal good and he got violent and haltered the music industry is hollow yet it is a lot more hollow with out you Steve rip
