Clara Lieu was an Adjunct Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design from 2007-2020. I love how humble you are as you paint!
I have a blue tube of this golden paint. I have used it a few times on paintings in full colour. This is the one you are using! A little goes a very long way. Unless I paint something enormous I think I will never need another tube. I quite liked the results. I also have some watercolours that do similar things. I only use them for very small touches.

If I remember correctly, interference paints work better as a glaze over dark colors. Since they are so transparent by themselves, they need a dark base to show the color shift.
Delightful work and talk. Interference is offered in fine and coarse grinds. Some have duocrome type where purple will flip to blue, green to yellow. The ones tested go from difficult to see to shimmer.

Clara, thank you for this. Never heard/saw these before. I can see that it might be a problem on on the pallet as they all look the same-you have to somehow ‘note’ which color it is. Also, it appears that the black paper brings out the color more. Hope you’re taking care of yourself as mentioned in a previous post. God bless, Marianne 😊❤👩🎨 6:21
I'm late to the party, but you get the flop from interference colors that are too tone so that's where that comes from. Maybe try the interference colors with zinc white since it's translucent that might make it pop a bit more.

To anyone that's used the interference paints...Do they show up as well on black/dark acrylic or oil paint as they do on black paper?
You shouldn't use acrylics over oil, but they should work just fine as a glaze for other acrylics! - Mia, Art Prof Staff
