I think playing as venom probably increases the maturity rating since he does kill and eat people. That's probably why they shy away from it cuz they want as many sales as possible especially children...because after all spiderman is aimed more towards kids. But I could be completely wrong on that it's just my theory. Although I'm hoping you'll be able to fully become venom in marvels spiderman 2

I remember this being a big open world. I wonder if it's as big as I think it is now years later. This game is nostalgic and I still ranked it as the best spiderman game I ever played until the new one came out. I enjoyed this so much, I liked the story, played it many times over and really enjoyed swinging through the city. I was so good at the swinging, you just wouldn't even believe. Really was my favorite sand box game at the time and I was so great at this swing and new the streets so well.
I played this on my gen2 ps2 a few years back and the open world is outdated sadly. Could just be my console being old af but you cant go more than about 30 steps without the game having to load. Still feels nostalgic though

uhhhhhh no exactly no. They rewrote ALOT of this for this game but it's still excellent story telling for the rewrites for this game's narrative and even done overall better than comic for the venom arc part anyway and it's funny since it has the same writer and artist from the Ultimate spider-man comic. The prologue is the same but deviants to be it's own thing.
This is one of the best games I've ever played. I lost the disk shortly after I reached the 1st Goblin battle and was never able to finish playing it. I'd love to see them remake this game with the same cell-shading, lower resolution graphics and give us a 20 hr game, with a bigger city, more villains, more side quests etc.!
When I was young I always had trouble with the game too because the race against the Human Torch was hard but I got better at it as I got older. I recommend you give it another try if you were having trouble with that too
This game and Hulk Ultimate Destruction are easily the most UNDERRATED comic book video games of all time. There's almost nothing funnier in this game than watching Venom mash his fist in the back of Wolverine's head 😂
Funny mechanics story actually: I was fucking about, web swinging across 2 buildings and a lampost while spamming my jump and both web swing buttons, then somehow slingshot myself against a skyscraper in the crawling animation while spiderman has a random web coming out of his ass going into the sky. Wish i had it recorded
This game was literally my childhood and I can still say today that this is the masterpiece among Spider-Man playing is definitely 100 out of 100 points

This game is what started my love for Spider-Man. It was the first of many ps2 games i owned and played, and i still cherish it greatly to this day. The open world was so much fun to explore as a kid and i really hope we get a future spiderman game as memorable as this
This game was part of my childhood😭 I loved the comic book style and the differences from the original spider man lore, Eddie being peters childhood friend, GG being a hulking monster, the venom symbiote not being alien but made as a potential cure for cancer, pure nostalgia

I love this game so much! I immediately remember the day my mom took me out of school to go to Sea World, and how when we got home I spent the entire afternoon finishing the game.
I remember playing this 24/7 on my GameCube and having memory stick or card and always trying to help my friends out when they couldn’t save and this was the one we played as a group and it’s still one of my favorites

The best part about this game is that it was telling the exact story in the ultimate Spider-Man comic
