I genuinely havent watched R2 until like 4 years after release. On release i watched like half of episode 1 and I was like “naaaaah, its a restart in alternative universe? Miss me with that” 😂
Lelouch was kept alive because the Emperor wanted to use him as bait to lure CC. When the soldier is reading his diary just before he calls him bait and reveals that the Emperor is tracking every move Lelouch makes in case he lures CC.
"if there's like a 6 month time skip in going to lose my s***" "It's been a year since Brittanian forces crushed the Black Knights" It's always fun watching people react to this episode (:
Personally, I think the reason Kellen feels so betrayed not because of what Zero has done, but because it’s Lelouch. It means not only did he lie to her when she first suspected him, but that he was hiding from her when they could’ve been working together this whole time. It made her feel like Zero didn’t trust her, because if she had known he was Lelouch they would’ve been able to work together out of costume as well. It probably also makes her feel like all the praise and trust he showed her were lies too. Also, she had a fairly low opinion of Lelouch after the incident with the hot dog vendor, so reconciling the guy who said it was wrong to help an 11 with the savior of the Japanese is going to be really hard for her. Which one is real? Was the knight of justice hiding in plain sight from everyone, even her, or was the cold, emotionless Britannian playing with their lives for his own satisfaction?
There is also the case she believed she may have been brainwashed by Lelouch's Geass to follow his commands, she was worried she is a mental slave. After that then most of what you say fits in once she believes she is not mind controlled.
To be fair, it IS a realistic representation of what you could expect to see in a casino ran by a near maffia guy from the elite of an imperialistic country that has subjugated a third of the world and has just been dominating the country for 10 years? Not saying it was necessary. But is it THAT out of place? I'm not really sure.
Not a spoiler, but just in case... As far as I remember, emperor in the 2nd episode, said that he will rewrite Lelouche's memories to make use of him. So emperor's geass can change memories. Everyone(and Lelouche) thinks that there always was Rolo as Lelouche's brother and don't know that they knew Nunnally.
Can't wait for Josh's reactions to Suzaku's Dark Knight arc lmao Kallen's reaction comes from feeling betrayed. Remember why she's there. She just saw Zero abandon the battle for Japan and was hoping he had a good reason for leaving. She then finds out their hero never cared about Japan (and her) and they were just pawns for his larger revenge. She was also personally falling for Zero so the betrayal was doubly worse.
On the Shojo art style at the end, Code Geass had it's character design done by CLAMP, a shojo manga studio if I'm not mistaken. They started with the infamous jojo's bizarre adventure doujinshi about a jotaro and kakyoin son born from an egg. Yes, it's real.
I don't think I'm spoiling anything by saying this, but to keep in short; The Emperor kept Lelouch around to use as bait for C.C. She's very important to the Britannians, and they had her in a container in the first episode of the first season. They want her back.
Lets freakin goooooo. You guys are a treasure for starting S2 so soon. That confusion of the 1st was on purpose and they also wanted to re-introduce elements that new viewers/ ease on viewers and also tell the story of a timeskip and how the events in between are still shaping the world of S2. Anyhow, have a great day both of you!
I like how Mehgan repeats several times at the beginning of the show: 'I don't understand what's happening'. Yeah, we all didn't understand what was happening when we watched this nonsense for the first time. 😅
From what I heard in the comments of another reactors from code geass, it would seem that the original plan for code geass was one season of 50 episodes, but there were some shenanigans with the time spot code geass was published at, and it had to be shortened to 25 episodes, but the success of the anime made it so a second season would be commanded, of 25 episodes. That apparently decided the anime scenarist to make a soft reboot for the second season, with a mirror of the first episode, so new viewers who hadn't seen the first season would get to understand easily the major plot points etc.... Hence the fact that the first episodes of both seasons are basically the same story.
15:11 because it is drawn by character designers team CLAMP who are shoujo mang artists. Their notable work includes Cardcaptor Sakura, xxxHolic, and TSUBASA CHRONICLES.
I am so looking forward to watching your reactions to the second half of my favorite series of all time! I can't wait for new episodes of your reactions, almost as much as I couldn't wait for Code Geass episodes!
People say this a lot but honestly I think the cut is more jarring the more fresh the details of season one's finale are for you. For me I had to wonder if I clicked the wrong episode or if the site didn't have a season. But I'm sure if you were watching the tv you'd have more faith that the show is just being confusing rather than the broadcaster or network being wrong.
It's not an anime, technically, but one of the rare shows I've seen that has that same "no wasted scenes" feeling, although potentially even more well-crafted, is Arcane. If y'all haven't seen it, I would definitely recommend watching it, whether as a reaction or on your own time, because it's one of very few shows that I would consider a genuine masterpiece. Fantastic writing, animation, everything.
Think about what Kallen feels. She believed in her leader as a heroic figure that wants to do all he can to free her people. Now she knows he’s a normal person with his own vendetta. Like Lelouch left everyone in the black knights to die for his sister. That’s not a hero that cares for Japan. She now sees him for who he really is, a person using Japan for his own benefit.
They don’t think rolli is nunally, just that they don’t know her anymore and rollo is lelouch brothers. I mean the emperor can change memories he could just change the memories of people that knew nunally is lelouch brother. Not many people actually knew
I love your reaction so much! You guys are so cool and I hope at the end of season 2 we get another cosplay Yeah season 2 is trip but I hope you guys enjoy it
Yeah, of _course_ Suzaku went too far: _he wants to unalive himself, and Lelouch's Geass LITERALLY WON'T LET HIM_ . Imagine you have nothing to live for, your girl got killed by your best friend, your ideals have been shattered over your head, but your body _litetally fights you_ when you try to die, and you lose all memory everytime it happens. OF COURSE Suzaku goes insane, it's incredible his brain is still capable or stringing together coherent sentences...
S2 from start to finish is nothing but twist and turns both good and bad. If season 1 was playong chess Season 2 is new-age chess with 8-d plans (a future chess play embodies this)
I really don’t like R2. Not until much later do we finally get back to the core of the story from s1, and zero just does not have the same tactical genius as he did back in s1. The story ends well, but this mid point is not satisfying.
The China arc bores me the most. It kinda picked up after a certain events but the plot wandered around again, though slightly more interesting this time, and only the finale is epic.
I love how much R2 trolls the watcher with the 1st episode. They know what we went through at the S1 finale and yet we start here.
Is it V2 ?
I genuinely havent watched R2 until like 4 years after release.

The season 1 finale into season 2 mixup in Code Geass is downright DIABOLICAL. I love it.

The voice from the Chinese leader is for a good reason too, he's a high eunuch.
It’s awful.
That does make it make sense

No shit
Crucial to the plot.

Nunna-He is a great nickname for Rolo, and I'm so mad I didn't come up with it before.

But he still teases her about the clothes lol

That was their first? I assumed they were already well established at that point
It wasn't the one about Jotaro being a horse?

Their confusion! I love it R2 knows how to hurt us.
Been waiting for this ! One of my favorite series, can't wait to see how you guys react to the 1st ep of season 2 !
The White Horse is a reference to Napoleon, since Lelouch is basically just "Napoleon but Anime".
