I’m 64. I’ve gotten turned around a few times in my life. Once in Alaska’s Tongas National Forest while working as a tree thinner, and then 15 years ago in the Atlantic somewhere off the coast of Maine. I was Ocean kayaking and lost sight of land. I never leave home without my bag, several fire starters (fero, lighters, fat wood, tinder, stainless water bottle, whistle, mora companion, Benchmade Bushcraft, paracord, flashlight(s), lightweight tarp, water purification, etc. I mountain bike a lot now in the Maine forest. Things can happen. I took a header and woke up in the dark. If you’re putting yourself out there, be smart enough to be prepared and tell about it. This episode brought back memories. My Swiss Army knife has been with me on all these adventures, for 49 years. Officier Suisse
“My stuff doesn’t look like everyone else’s because mine is used!” That’s hilarious! Like the knife pages… dudes own hundreds of knives, arguing the minutia of blade steel differences but none of the knives look less than NIB condition… funny stuff. 🤟
True words . I discovered some channels that made torture tests , but most are talking about unused edc with a lot of functions that I am sure they will never use .
Amen
Yeah not a lot of people use there gear that they post
When you have a ton of knives and know a ton of knife maintenance, it may appear they aren’t used, but they actually may be. I know neeves knives uses his blades, but many people don’t use, and don’t get me started on people and their pry bar collections...
I’m fortunate enough to see Kevin almost every Wednesday. And when I say he is just a badass goofball he really is!😂
Brilliant video! Both entertaining and informative. George is great as always, and Kevin is an awesome guest. Looking forward to more!
I concur.
Kevin is such a nice and down to earth guy. Loved seeing his EDC here.
Nice video George!!! Kevin was a great guest to have on and kept relevant to Blade HQ knife and gear lines. Keep it up George!!!😁👍
Sure fire stilleto is my Jam. getting stabbed in the eyes with blinding light.
Kevin's a boss! Love when he slide what I'm guessing was an amtak off the table because blade hq didn't carry it lol 🤣🤙🤘
Simply AWESOME video!! Really opened my eyes on the importance of EDC gear. 👍👍
This video was GREAT!. Please make more similar to this one
@@yuritesticoff1141 I'm talking mostly about the other guy
Finally realized what's wrong with my EDC light-- Just finished putting a lanyard on it for retention in the dark, thanks to this vid. I also realized I need a couple of different sized pocket organizers-- I'll be correcting that asap. Great video!
Yellow birch outfitters, shown in the video, has several sizes. All great quality, I have 3 different ones myself.
Sweet video, love these. I also have that same exact Spyderco and its a beast.
Enjoyed this edc video, great load out and so practical. Similar to how I carry but I need those products.
Great vid guys. Keep switching it up. You guys are doing a great job. More interviews.
My EDC:
Big Idea Designs "Bit Bar" screwdriver in the front left pocket, Olight "Warrior X Pro" flashlight in my back right pocket, Bastinelli "BB Drago" 2-inch fixed blade clipped horizontally on front of belt, and the Cold Steel Black Talon 2 serrated in my front right pocket.
To paraphrase Les Strout (Survivorman), "There are a thousand ways to make fire, but having a Bic on you is a lot easier."
The man has a way with words. And a way with fire. -George
Love seeing a video about gear that's actually used consistently! Kevin is very knowledgeable and seems really cool too!
Thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks.
Thanks, brother! -George
Great info. I switched to waterproof rechargable plasma arc lighters. Infinite source of Fire if you have a solar panel Etc. plus they're perfect for sealing the ends of paracord instantly. I still carry the regular stuff but this is now my primary source of Fire.
Very informative video ... Love to see Kevin in another video in the future if it's possible ...
Very likely. He was also in our recent Reiff Knives video.
This episode was so good I almost thought I was watching KnifeCenter!
Yes, George is really making a difference in the quality of Blade HQ's YT videos.
I carry a Benchmade AFO. I’ve had one since they were green in color when first made and sold.
Great video George and Kevin , I love blade HQ and Mike glovers field craft survival company
What a great production
I always enjoy seeing how others view EDC. Definitely some awesome ideas. Thanks.
Love knife banter it's been amazing to watch it grow and develope over the years
@Gilbert M oh Ben was my #1 no one can replace him
1st time I've clicked on this video series. I'll definitely be back weekly because of the host.
loved the mod you did to your flash light
Cool EDC. I was waiting for the watch! Necessary item for EDC and survival
Totally agree. Time is your greatest ally and your greatest enemy at the same time. Either way, it's important to know it! -George
@@BladeHQ
That’s why I always wear a watch. It’s the one thing you can never get back, or buy more of.
Looking at my watch reminds me to appreciate my time and use it wisely.
Any idea what watch he was wearing? Looked simple and legible.
"You said knife? As in one? I'm half Filipino bro...". That actually made me laugh because it's true. We Filipinos carry more than one knife. 👍
💯💯💯🤙🏽🙏🏽🇵🇭🇺🇲 MABUHAY!!
This was a great video
I loved Kevin’s reaction to the Spyderco Shaman. Awesome video 🌀
Glad you enjoyed the video! -Branson
This is the best guest yall have ever had on the channel
I'm glad I'm not crazy for having a backup of a backup of the main gear I carry now. I mean yea its on my body everyday but just recently I found out there a community that's like me that I never knew about. I always ask for my bday for something I can use everyday and carry everyday ever since I was 10
Microtech Socom elite is my choice for a knife. Very lightweight, hard to sharpen but it maintains an excellent, durable edge. Fixed blade preference is a Mora Carbon Garberg.
I love this video! I always enjoy seeing people who are intimately familiar with a piece of gear discuss it in detail. You just can’t find that anywhere outside of social media.
I also carry a ridiculous number of knives at all times, but not for redundancy. Someone taught me a long time ago that every task requires its own unique tool, and every tool is designed for a specific task. Take, for instance, a hammer. How many *kinds* of hammers can you think of? How many *kinds* of chairs can you think of? All of them serve different roles. So, in keeping with that, I carry different kinds of knives for different kinds of cutting tasks.
I agree, I do the same things. I have 3 different knives on me at all times.
I resemble this comment; today i was carrying 5 different knives on body, 2 on my duty belt and several more in my duty bag. I had 5-6 flashlights on body (depending on the time of day) and at least 3 different ways of making fire on body. Even when I sleep, I have a flashlight, whistle and knife on me. The life you save might be your own or your family! I try to live by the motto, "Never unprepared"
Most excellent
If you're carrying an EDC bag, consider keeping a small pair of channel lock pliers in it.
Just got my WE Roxi3. Got it in two days. Thanks guys and ladies. Y’all never disappoint.
I had a sebenza and although I liked the sturdiness of the knife i didn’t care for the thumb studs and ended up selling it, the satin bhq shaman in micarta and M4 is my dedicated “outdoor” pocket knife.
Thanks for showing someone's real edc! Love it!
5:35 I lol’d. Poor Kyle 😂
Use a flashlight to see better at night, brilliant idea!
Why carry a firesteel daily instead of a lighter? Silly
On a ride several years ago one of the guys asked me about my EDC. He was surprised that I had three knives (a neck knife, a folding carpet knife and a multi tool.) and a Zippo since I don't smoke
My Yellowbirch Outfitters pocket pro is worn in my front pocket daily....inside I keep a leatherman 1st gen, stream light stylus pro, Giant mouse ace biblio (m390) a thin 2 sided field sharpening stone courtsey of Jay Yellowbirch, as well as a bic lighter and tinder. wouldnt leave home without it.
This brought me back to blade hq vids, sorry, the pretty edc thing just does nothing for me personal. Great job, and thanks to everyone who made this happen.
Great video still miss Zach but really informative and better content then you've put out in a long time
CS Holdout 3, Bic lighter, cs gas, zip ties, Vic farmer, dip and an old fenix light😊👍
Jay at Yellowbirch Outfitters is fantastic and makes some great quality products!!!🎉
I’ve always been an EDC guy but this is a little repetitive lol. I would recommend something like this for a bush pilot or something
Y’all should sell some sort of version of his kit with the basics.
Good video - thanks! What was the fixed blade?
Best exchange…
“What knife do you carry?”
“Knife (as in just one)…I’m half Phillipino bro”
I’m trying to decide if I should get a Dawson knives handman in Magnacut. Seems like a steel for 220
Dope 💯
@3:57 nice one. I got that 😅
I usually just carry a knife for defense these days you never know, that's left pocket, I have a pocket Victorinox, stream light micro stream, two spare AA batteries, pocket notebook and pen all in a pouch since it's not a daily use.
How do you pronounce your name? I have been watching you for a long time, and I absolutely love watching you scraping as I go to sleep at night, it’s so relaxing. Are you still doing videos about psoriasis since you have healed? The only ones I’ve seen have been about your knife collection and no offense, that’s not why I subscribe to this channel and do you take or have you ever taken public speaking classes? You have an excellent speaking voice that’s why I asked. I know I’ve asked a lot of questions, but can you please take the time and answer these? I have asked questions in the past, and you never answered me. It makes me wonder if you answer anyone please please please just answer me.
“You said knife…” he’s one of us. He gets it. That laugh was the immediate response that we all know well.
Awesome Video Blade hq 👌
Keep George, he is a winner.
Pinoys with blades.. we’re always holding more than one💯
Two is one, one is none, three is barely acceptable, four is sufficient! -George
I’m also half Filipino and always thought I was just knife crazy but come to find out, it’s just in my blood to want to carry ever knife known to man 😂
@@FishHuntFreedom knife culture in the Philippines is unpopular. have, Only few people appreciate it...
Would like to see more BHQ video uploads
George I really like watching you as host. I think you are a great down to earth choice, but what happened to Curt and the rest? Did everyone leave Blade HQ?
You can carry a lighter through tsa, I’m a smoker and I have never ever ever had a lighter confiscated. Just put it in the tray and you’re good to go.
They actually don’t want you to put these in checked luggage, same story with lithium ion batteries
Don’t forget super small and light weight head lamp , a UV5R ham radio and a garmin inreach mini satellite communicator
So, George, what is that fixed blade he carried? From the little we saw of it, I'm going to guess it's a Miller Brothers Blade.
Where can I find how to do the flashlight hack?
I always carry tinder for the rule of 3s - No date for 3 weeks, months or years.
Proud Filipino 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Would love to see yall bring on Mike Glover
Sebenza schmener - a Shadow IV is the Chris Reeve knife for an outdoors man.
"Knife, you mean one? I'm half Filipino bro.." that made me smile coz I'm Filipino and I can truly relate🤣🤣🤣
The nitecore p20ix is a good price for what you get
Flashlight knife and pen go everywhere with me.
14:50 whats that fixed blade knife?
It looks like the Amtac Northman
Did i miss it or did they not show the make and model of his fixed blade? Looks like a milmak CCW i think... thoughts?
It's an Amtac. We don't carry it so they did discuss it much.
Look like there’s another fixed blade that Kevin carries, but wasn’t mentioned in the video. Any idea what it was? Looked like it could’ve been an Amtac maybe?
You are correct.
I wear dickies cargo pants every day for work... and as it's Florida wear cargo shorts outside of work. My EDC has evolved to include a loaded maxpedition micro tool pouch in my left hand cargo and a bifold wallet style IFAK in my right hand cargo any time I leave my house.
Even if I don't load up my person directly with any of my other normal stuff [arc boulder wallet (countycomm personal flood light and pokka pen), keys, phone, main blade (rotates), Kizer Cormorant (in horizontal belt sheath), and victorinox explorer with clip] all easily dumped into a countycomm gaffer bag. I can still quickly and easily grab those two pouches for each cargo pocket.
The Maxpedition pouch has: My backup Olight, a Kershaw culpepper slipjoint, a bic lighter in a exotac sleave, a roughly 25 ft. hank of paracord, a countycomm titanium 4 inch adjustable wrench, a countycomm titanium survival fishing card, a countycomm titanium spark wheel with spare flints, tinderquik tabs, a sail needle, several lengths of kevlar 50 lb test thread, a 4 inch prybar, nitrile gloves, a small vial with a single dose of excedrin, a few assorted bandaids, and a dude shower wipe)
IFAK includes: A small assortment of bandaids, alcohol wipes, nitrile gloves, a swat-t tourniquet, quikclot gauze, bleed stop powder, and a pair countycomm titanium fine point tweezers.
Just between the two cargo pouches I have options for things I run into daily for work and things I plan for the possibility of in life. Inspection light for peering at stock in dark corners, sagging pants or split seams, loose bolts/fasteners I can't tighten with my victorinox, impromptu candles on cupcakes for birthdays or impromptu barbecue, wound care from pallet splinters and scraps to serious bleeds, ppe for work cleaning to wound care for others, and even the unlikely imaginary scenario of getting a fresh fish for dinner if I somehow had no money and found myself homeless, jobless, and on the street. (Survival/fishing kit for me is just there for shits and giggles since it's mostly titanium and adds negligible bulk and weight. I get the occasional laugh at people's expressions when they see what I have in the pouch.)
Pouches are great!
Uhh what fixed blade did he have? We didnt get to see it.
Really liking George as a host keep it up!
Is George the sweet spirit of Blade HQ?
Absolutely!
Uhm, please forgive me my humble question, what does being a survivalist have to do with what he carries when he is not being on holiday doing survivalist stuff for enjoyment?
I'm surprised your still with fieldcraft kevin. I think you might just be the longest lasting employee there.
What fixed blade does the guest carry? It looks beefy.
That's the Amtac Minuteman. It's quite the knife, let me tell you! It fits nice in the hand, looks good, cuts well, and has one of the best sheaths I've ever seen. We don't carry them at Blade HQ (maybe one day), but they're definitely worth considering. -George
@@BladeHQ thanks, I’ll check them out, I’ve been looking for a bravo 1 from bark river, but I like the look of that.
You lost me at BRC.
bye!
👍
Why dont you talk about his fixed blade knife ? I've seen it on the table,I want to know what in the knife design makes it a good survival knife. So I can buy something along those lines maybe from blade hq,know I don't know and I don't want the definition of a cute fixed blade
why not show what fixed blade he had?
Esee Izula is pretty much everything you’d ever want in an edc survival knife
Black Rifle is the Bud light of coffee.
That streamlight is high and low only . It is not programmable, the only programmable line of streamlights are the Protac series.
My car is my EDC kit I can cut shoot or build a house with what's in my car.
Will a Victorinox strike a ferro rod?
The spine of the saw will throw sparks all day long! -George
next pocket dump, gotta talk about what's on the wrist guys.
Wow Kevin's face remembers me a childhood friend. How crazy is that.
What happened to Zac, then Kurt, and others? I used to be able to set my watch by them doing a show but now I get so many different people, rarely get a notification...this doesn't look good for being dependable. Can you go 2 or 3 years with the same people or is there a revolving door here?
Zac and Kurt have moved on to bigger things unfortunately. And Zac is making some great content on his own. We are working on getting back to more consistency but it takes time when you a starting from scratch again. Appreciate the feedback. -Spencer
@@BladeHQ Well I'm looking forward to it...the knife education is great so I missed it.
Just add a Firefly ferro rod instead of the toothpick to your SAK.
I'd never seen those, but they look sweet! Thanks for the referral! -George
Is Kurt gone now too?
From what I’ve heard yes
Damn that’s the worst news I’ve heard all day. Why are they getting rid of all of these guys?
@@JP-8924 I think it was actually Kurt who moved but still I don’t know
You should get Mike Glover on the channel
Did he buy a spyderco shaman ?
He sure did! It's a sweet knife. Did you get one yet? -George
@@BladeHQ it will be my next one got a yo-jimbo2 few mouth ago
That Yojimbo is sweet! I'm jealous. Great pick!
