My dad has SCDS. He went almost 20 yrs without a diagnosis. Doctor after doctor told him he was crazy, that he wasn’t hearing his heartbeat, that he was just deaf. Finally he has a diagnosis, but the surgery is expensive and so risky it’s considered brain surgery. So he’s dealt with this condition. Finally had a small hole patched in a different part of his eardrum. He stopped hearing all his body noises but he also almost completely lost his hearing. Some drs when they leave medical school think the learning stops there and don’t do research on recent developments in medicine.
I just had this surgery two weeks ago. I wish I woke up immediately after saying “im good” you 100% do not know if it worked for months. The healing sucks and a plastic surgeon is not the surgeon to do this. But it’s nice to see this was featured on a show. I felt crazy for years and no one listened to how I was feeling. I really hope this fixes me.
I had my surgery 6 weeks ago (transmastoid - superior canal plugging), and I’m trying to be patient but it’s hard. Surgery ear still stuffed up with fluid from the surgery. Hearing in that ear is really bad. As you said, I’m still not sure if the surgery worked. Wish I had someone to actually talk with and compare stories. I don’t do Facebook so RUclips is about all I got. Being a veteran musician, my hopes are all I got - probably the same with you. The surgeon keeps saying - it could be a couple more months for the inner ear to clear up. That would be wonderful. Best of luck to you. Brent
