This scene also showcases what sets _Spice and Wolf_ apart from most other anime I've seen, in that it takes something as ordinary as economics, daily life, and love, and delves into how rich and deep the "ordinary" can be.
I've seen breakdowns like that in real life (even experienced one or two myself). Yet while it's something we can all relate to, that does nothing to lessen the impact of the moment. They captured the pathos in a familiar yet haunting way.
Also, while the scene undoubtedly showcases Holo's wolven nature, I feel it somehow managed to underline how human she was simultaneously. We had never seen her that distraught before, not even when she was taken prisoner during the first story arch, and to see the whitty, unflappable wise wolf fall victim to such a human foible was deeply sobering.

This scene genuinely made me want to cry. I can’t imagine what it’d be like for all my friends and family to be gone, slaughtered, and yet never knowing about it for years upon years while I’m in some distant country far from home. Heartbreaking wouldn’t begin to describe it...

I’ve experienced something like this in my life but unlike Lawrence I was never given the opportunity to correct my mistakes as I was leaving for a deployment not long after. It truly sucks feeling helpless in trying to help someone to this day I’m trying to come to terms with how everything went down and how I’m supposed to move forward without them.

This channel is a masterpiece, ever since i started watching anime i would always analyze characters interactions, how their world is portrayed, the correlations between the real world and anime, what the author was trying to convey. Even on light-hearted shows i couldn't help doing it. And now finding this channel through my recommendations(probably by the sheer amount of spice and wolf soundtracks i've listened recently) makes me very happy. Keep on insighting!! :D

Back when I watched this with friends, when anything like this happened I just slid the chatroom off and watched the episodes. Ppl thought I was afking or mad, but the truth was, all I wanted was to concentrate. To a talkative, reaction-image-spamming person like me, that right there shows what is truly special.

I had to think long about my favorite scene. It is not that I didn't have any scenes, but they just didn't come to mind, but I finally found one after I rewatched the first season of Gatchaman Crowds, and I remembered how good that scene was and how I watched this clip multiple times before on youtube.
The scene is Joes awakening, near the end of the show.
In a way it is cliché and corny, but they captured it in a way and with perfect music to create this badass light bulb moment for a superhero character that fell into depression after losing to their biggest opponent. It is genuinely perfect, from the part where he can't light his cigarette, because his lighter is out of gas (hilarious as a superhero with fire powers), to his female coworkers, that were already fans before they knew of his secret superhero side, jumping in joy after realizing that he is in fact a superhero.
It is just a great scene that is the start to the finale of the first season and only one of the scenes that I remembered.
(Maybe I will post more when I rediscover them in my memory.)

Lawrence is at fault for being unable to answer Holo's question. I think throughout the series he is unsure what to do with her. He wants to take her to her village and leave to continue his business. At the same time, he wants to be with her. It took Amati's attempt to snatch Holo for him to decide on his answer. I honestly hate Lawrence for the way he thinks. Amati would never have been a problem if Lawrence properly answered Holo's question in the first place.

After some thinking i realize that i can't pick my favorite scene. What does it mean? Most epic moment? something filled with filings or just good animation. At the end i choose one then i rewatched more than others. Well, there is 2 of those for me.
    1) Is ending for 5 centimeters per second ending. It is not a scene in fact, more like full AMV but there is extremely touching with a short review of the entire story, showing one shoot after another and push you deeper in depression with every frame)
    2) Ending of the common route in Chaos;Child visual novel. And again, it takes everything, that happen before and turn it in a scary way. But i will not spoil you so that's it, have fun :D

Seriously though, the kid did nothing wrong. It's just from our perspective of knowing Lawrence and Holo's relationship it's bad.
From an outside perspective he just thought Holo was indebted to Lawrence and forced to follow along with him, and he wanted to free her.
Unless I completely misremember the story.

    • @gamerofgamers1417

Good point. He was just doing what he thought was morally right. Still though, it's easy to wonder if he just wanted Holo's affection rather than doing is as an act of generosity. I think that's where people start to not like him.

    • @jjhh320
      @jjhh320 Месяц назад +1

Yeah he probably should've confirmed and talked to Lawrence man to man first before just throwing down the gauntlet. He didn't ask Holo if she wanted help either, and what he should do. And later on he did say something that was uncool to Holo, which she doesn't reveal. That happens when you're young. At least his finances were barely even dented...which I think may be why it's kind of a jerk move on his part to throw his weight around.
