  • Now Ft. more shifting!
Bought a replacement shift drum off eBay a year ago. Turns out it was broken.
Also...I someone had shift forks backwards. Not saying it was me...but the evidence is strong.

Having transmission issues with my Yamaha RT2. Never split cases before so I found your excellent video. Ran into a problem taking clutch boss off. It looks like it should just slide out after the crown, the springs/screws, plates and discs are removed. My clutch boss and housing are stuck. Doesn’t seem possible but they wiggle a bit but they won’t release. I see I circlips or other things restraining the movement .Any ideas?
    Thanks

You may be getting interference from the primary gear. You can stick a penny between the clutch gear and the primary gear which will stop both from turning. This allows you to break loose the primary gear and remove it. With that gear off, the whole clutch basket should come off *I think*. It's been a while, but hopefully that's a help! I like the red. Got a Dt360 on a 76 it 400 I'm about to change clutch and friction plates on. Looking for some guidance.

Thanks! Fairly simple job. Pull the clutch pack out in one piece. Keep your steel plates in the exact order they came out and then just replace friction plates.
If you run in to trouble check yamahapartshouse or anywhere else for a parts diagram. They are super helpful. Good luck with it!

It really kills me to see how some riders STOMP on gear-change levers. If you understand your machine, you will treat it accordingly............hopefully !
