Most middle class Ghanaians like myself see these kayaye people all the time but we never thought they have such a touching story. This video is an eye opener . Anytime I will go back to Ghana, I will dig deep into their life's and see how I can help. In fact it goes to everybody who is watching this video. It's time we take a look at people once in awhile instead of assuming all is well or seeing people as numbers. I'm highly touched.
There should be no shame in being a head porter, there's clearly a need for them in Accra. What needs to happen is that they need to be provided with greater access to the tools and machinery needed to make the job more efficient and easier. I'm talking about carts, proper containers, even basic e-vehicles. They'll then be able to shift more quicker and make more money or have more time free to dedicate to other things. Use of 3D printers or the setting up of makeshift, basic factories in or nearby these slums would help. Of course, these type of initiative would be a lot more realistic with the help of government, they need to do a better job. I know that Ghana isn't too bad compared to others, but it's still not good enough. How is it that so many African countries have the most politicians and government ministers but they're nowhere to be found when you need them?
that's a very touching story. Im sorry that you all have to deal with such things i am. we go through things over here but nothing like what you guys do.

Not talking about this video specifically as it has good intent and reports a success story but i just realized that the problem with western media is that they allways exploit images of extreme poverty in Africa or corruption because that is catchy. The truth is that there is poverty everywhere.African journalists should start going to Europe and interview the poor. Go Africa, we love you and your children. We will thrive again
the most shameful and annoying aspect of all is...of all this their struggles and tiresomes they are still forced to pay tax to the goverment...or else their head pan will be seized from them
you alone can not help , we need to make noise to our stupid and selfish leaders .its a disgrace to see the most richest continent in world . share this video with friends and relatives ,our leaders and people in positions are failing us so we need to stand up to claim our God given rights .fear s not going to get you nowhere . My people !!!!!
really Accra has wealth? because the way you had shown the city, it is nothing but slums full of kayayei... yet again this is another way of making Sub Saharan Africa look like a hellhole, and scare investment away from stable democratic countries like Ghana.. shame on you. if you want to tell the world that you are helping these kayayei, do it in a positive way, and not one that keeps people seeing endless poverty, and think "Africa".
I Wish that government should force on billionaires and millionaires to make paying taxes for building new road, houses, transportation and provide new schools and teachers..so it should improve bettering Ghana!!!

slim pickkens Yes ,but dont forget that USA was buil by europeans elite ,so there where allot smart people involve etc, wile Africa is very backwards continent so he need at least 1000 years to be at the same level of Europe . Dont get me wrong but this is the way to developed ,needs time . If you give all the money in the world to this people they whont now what to do and in what to spend . The money most be spend carefully and wise . You have example of they liders who are so greedily and why? Is all about mentality ,and mentality you dont change over night ,take time maybe 1000years. So some how is good that this people trying to developed by theyr own so they can apreciate and respect other people work

Its strange seeing them say that its shameful work. As an American, i see head porters as beautiful. Culturally rich. It should pay more tho.
