“Drive it around here until you get the hang of it” Riley’s eyes then light up like it’s Christmas morning and that grin isn’t coming off.
Great that you’re teaching your kids proper operation and all the safety of heavy-equipment operations.
Good dad/mom move!
It sounds like the word "fast" is not in use today. lol. Riley, the wife, kids and you are amazing. Needs to be more like this in life. Putting yourself into this struggle is what it's about. Thank you for sharing.
Great parenting!! Wish I would of had that opportunity when I was that young. He is having a great time and very skilled for his age!
Riley is already a great all around cowboy and equipment operator!
It might be possible to walk the cat to where it needs to be. I once walked a cat 15 miles when I was a green" operator". The only advice I got was "don't run it in high gear: you will slap the tracks right off of it." It would probably pay to get more experienced advice on that. I love the way you take the time to teach your kids. They will grow up and be self sufficient: something lacking in this world. I am getting especially fond of Riley, and his try anything and get it done attitude. Good luck, I am cheering for you.
I watched an ice road trucker load a dozer onto a trailer. He put tires on top of the trailer tires for the dozer to drive over. Seemed to save his trailer tired from weakening. I’ve never driven one but seemed to work. Good job raising your kids you two!
Those tires were so far gone that even with protection they were going. 90K on a trailer designed for 2/3 that weight.
@@ziggystardink9389 agreed but when he gets new tires. Lol
Don’t know how old Riley is & I know how special all the kids are. Riley is one smart. Great job young man.
Heck that boy is a pro already if he can already run that tractor like he's been doing in this video. He was a little hesitant to back it off the trailer in the road but did it perfectly. Nice work Riley.
Reilly is doing so well. He doing exactly right by being steady and easy near fences. He is very talented around machinery and eager to do it right and no mistakes.
Is there anything that boy can not do?🙈 Love his work ethic & attitude. 💚
Oh boy, Riley needs to add another title on his list of achievements......Cowboy, hay hand, water hauler, fence builder, truck driver, cattle feeder, mechanic, etc.........And now HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR!! You must have mixed up the digits of his age. Instead of one two it must be two one. Another fine video by the Anchor Brand ranch hands.
If you haven't subscribed to this channel, you're missing the most informative, exciting channel on RUclips! Keep 'em coming!
Ridge exact words “why were you driving so fast you lost all your stuff” has me dying 😂. He is so fricken cute and funny!
The greatest Dad ever! Riley is amazing on how he controls this heavy equipment for his age! Wow!
That is life on a ranch. Go from one brake down to another. Your kids are more like men than most adults that awesome. It good to see you wife keeps her sense of humor. Be cautious when blowing out the air filter I heard that you can easily blow holes in them. I worked for an old farmer once, he made us tap the air filters on a tire until they came clean. Good Luck with the trailer
Wonderful family. Reggie is so funny, so cute. Riley is a very talented boy. You must be so proud.
Man the way you teach your children to do everything is something else, so good to watch.
That D8 sure is a nice toy to have kicking around, fired up like a dream too!
You got one happy boy there, you just made his day good job dad. He's got great skills in the making!
just saw this video. What an awesome job Riley did! No matter what happened you are all safe and that's all that matters. Mr. Hughes, you and the misses are doing a wonderful job giving your children plenty of life experiances. They are self confident, strong and the love they show for each other is wonderful. Keep up the good work, ignore the bad stuff and keep those wonderful children learning and living the life!
Riley, is one of your best ranch hands. He's one hard working guy
And he learned it so fast
Pretty impressed with your boy Riley. One handy kid
I like Riley's work ethic!
Wow that was amazing. Riley did it. What heart the boy has
Your son catches on very quickly. If l hadn't seen him back that dozer off like that l wouldn't have believed it. It's amazeing what kids can do!!!
What a beautiful sound when a cat comes to life I never ever get sick of that wonderful sound
Riley. you are terrific! I think you're going to be able to operate any and ALL of your family's machinery... Kudos!
I am very impressed with the responsibility Riley can handle, i am sure his brothers are similar, but we do not see them handle big gear as much as Riley.
Still don't have the names of all the boys down, but the one telling Dad he lost all his stuff was golden :)
Gotta give the props to Riley running that dozer! Just learning how to drive it and then being asked to back it off the trailer. That would've made anybody nervous! He handled it like a champ!
That sucks about the trailer tire(s)! On the bright side though, at least the catastrophic failure was limited to the small area. No damage to the rest of the trailer or the dozer and no injuries!
Here from Florida. I just looked online and that dozer with rippers total weight is right around 45 ton or 90,000 pounds. At best a two axle trailer on a good day is probably rated for 20-25 ton. I’ve run a d8k and a d8r and was moved very short distance on a 3 axle trailer and longer distance on a 4 axle trailer. Never been on a horse but pretty handy with machines and tools.
Yep, that was a failure from the start. That trailer would not be rated for the weight of the D8R on a good day with proper maintenance and good tires. Looking at the condition of the deck I guess maintenance was never done and the tires looked to be a mix of what ever was handy. It is a shame as now the trailer is of no use for other tasks. A good example of the danger of the split rims, get rid of them if you can.
That seems to be a theme with their stuff. Worn to a ragged edge. Cant blame them money doesn't grow on trees. Wonder why they did not have it dropped off at the site?
@@ziggystardink9389 My guess is that they wanted to use it there at the ranch for a couple things first. In another comment he said that the previous owner had told him that the dozer had been moved on that trailer in the past so like him, id have taken the previous owner at his word also. Ramsey will figure it out, not his first rodeo. I admire the whole family for their grit.
@@harlanadamsjr2695 I agree, that family is just amazing. What he did loading that D8 just seemed out of character.
@@MrTodd51 If it had good tires on it and you weren't climbing a mounting or going off road you'd probably be alright if you're only going a few miles and drove pretty slow. The reason for 3, 4, and more axles is due to bridge laws. You can get tires with a load rating high enough to handle the weight on two axles, but they're insanely expensive. Hell two tires would be worth more than the entire trailer probably. My guess is the GVWR isn't even 20 tons. You can block the suspension but it'll be a rough ride. I've done some pretty sketchy stuff but I have doubts I would've even loaded it on that trailer. It has not aged well, lol. Putting a $400K machine on a $500 trailer? No way. Oh, did you see any tie downs at all? Tracked machines on wood and/or steel might as well be ice. I've slid a dozer off a trailer and I was only going across my field. Crazy stuff.
Boys and their tinker toys. How wonderful. I do remember when my sons drove the JD 720 for the 1st time working ground 👍👍👍
you've been pumping out the content! love it. have a great day. sorry about the trailer... always at the worst time. i know you'll find a solution.
Riley did a great job in the pens for you!! Sign him up for Operating Engineers Local 139. Hope you got it figured out already. You sure have a lovely family and hard workers, stay safe and healthy you all.
Riley is a hand. Love the videos
What notice about the boys is they know how to handle equipment and cattle and horses and eachother with calm patience .They don't throw stuff scream when mad and they handle projects slowly for example the fuel nozzles he doesn't rip it out of tank and fling fuel everywhere! Tiny things make a difference..
Good job teaching your son how to handle heavy equipment and be responsible. No matter all the questions they ask every day is a teaching moment for youngsters. Be patient and learn to not only love them but love teaching. All the best with those great kids.
Country hick from the sticks Midwest disabled dude. Don’t know how I discovered this channel but glad I did. Farmboy Missouri
Thanks for watching Paul 🙏⚓️🐂
It has been one of those days. Set down and take a deep breath. I know you are down for awhile. You will whip this little set back and look back at the problem and smile and say “Honey we were down but our family has whipped another problem and a better family now “.
God Bless Love your family 👍👍👍
Riley adds another piece of equipment he can operate. You show a lot of confidence in his ability to do it also. We used to unload dozers of the side of lowboys all the time in the Army
"Cats in the cradle and the silver spoon"..... Great job Riley!! What a ripper!! Yee-Haa!!
You did good with your son. My dad taught me on 933 skip loader back in the day's. Keep up with the good work. Good luck with your trailer.
I feel like I'm learning with you. You are a patient teacher. Lorraine Australia
Riley's a born natural on heavy equipment.
The very first trip we made with the big grain trucks, driving home brother was driving he hits the clutch peddle and we hear a snap then when he was gonna shift again he presses the clutch peddle and there is nothing, peddle went down to the floor and stayed there. Lucky we were on our home road just 3 miles from home and drove the rest of the way in 3rd gear 10mph. a rod that connects the clutch peddle to the clutch a cotter pin fell out and the vibration or use slowly moved till the rod fell off the peddle. Dad said it was a 5cent fix that
took 4 hours to repair.
Great job Riley, a little over kill for cleaning pens but it works, old wheel style .Walk the dozer there, just take your time.
Make sure you turn the battery key off everytime your done with it because leaving it on will drain the batteries down. Coming from someone with 20 years experience with heavy equipment.
Reilly is absolutely over the moon to be driving the dream of every little and he us very young so he will never forget his first time driving this big dozer.
You Riley Sir are a total badass! And the smile on your face is priceless! Good job young man.
Your boy sure did good with that dozer.
Very impressive the way your son operates that D8.
Boy! Riley is the Man! Good teaching moments.
Hang in there Pard, something good will come from this and just remember we're all out here rooting for you
Thanks 🙏
Riley has a gentle touch with that machine and could take the dust off the fence without putting the fence in the dust.
There goes Riley learning to drive something else! Good job loading and unloading it! Too bad it wasn't where you wanted it to be! At least part of the day was good!😆😆
Someone suggested calling Heavy D for parts. Great idea 💡
Reilly does look comfortable in the cab and so happy.
I am 57. How well you instructed your kid in operating a dozer was awesome. You put tears in my eyes from seeing your live and caring for your son. You made me wish I had kids to teach. The only bad thing was me remembering how nerve racking and soul sucking my father and grandfather were at teaching. I hope you retain your abilities until you have no kids to teach.
Thanks clipper
Hope y’all enjoy watching
Where do you live?
Maybe just a little over weight for the trailer
That’s the same way I started driving a tractor when I was 9 years old. My dad turned me loose in a pasture field after giving me instructions so he could go back to more important things on our dairy farm. He left me alone for an hour or two. The next day he put me to plowing the fields. I started working for my grandpa when I was 17 years old running a D8 caterpillar with a cutting blade clearing trees and stumps behind loggers for a local paper mill. I’ve always wanted to operate one of the big boy dozers. My grandpa’s dozers had a gas engine you started first to start the diesel engine and the blade was raised and lowered with a cable. Dozers have come a long way since the mid to late 70s.
Great job Riley... What way to make quick work learning to operate that dozer! Seems like ranch lift for sure, one catastrophe after another. Hope to see you get your equipment fixed in order to see the secret project.
Riley. Is the man on that ranch he can do it all…….ALOHA 🤙🏾🤙🏾
What a great day for Riley. Driving a dozer, next he'll become a great operator. Bummer on the trailer though, it's kinda like getting old, you think you can carry what you carried when you were young, but when you try, something breaks. Man plans, God laughs. You'll figure something out, a solution will present itself, chin up.
My wife and I Think Riley is a very intelligent boy.He don’t only drive a large truck with a water tank behind it but he can also operate a D9 cat. Keep up the good work Riley you will succeed as an adult. Here’s something to remember you know how many young men would like to operate a D9 cat like you operate? quite a few of them. I also want to add your video has great content.
Thanks joe 🙏🐂⚓️
88700 pounds with blade and rippers. He did a good job of unloading. I remember the first time I let my kid drive something big.
Gotta love how Reggie believed you when you said Riley did it! Cute as his reaction is, this is clearly an episode of the Riley Show!
You have a good level headed youngun there. He's going to be a good hand and a darn good cat skinner too.
That sucks about the trailer. The tire blew or deflated and let the ring come loose and all that took out the second tire and lugs breaking the drum. The trailer certainly wasn't going to go up any so something had to give.
I'm not sure how standard those parts are. Some stuff was while if made during wartime could be some strange stuff.
I guess you didn't have to repair fences at the feed lot, LOL!
Cows are a curious lot. We helped our neighbors with their dairy cattle. They were like big pets, they didn't understand how heavy they were and wanted to play and lean up against you. We used to go out in the middle of the pasture and lay down in the grass. They would just walk up and stare at you. We were never worried about getting stepped on, it just confused the stuff out of the critters. You would finally stand up and they seemed relieved that whatever you were doing was done. They could be frustrating while putting up board fence because they would want to lean over and try to watch what you were doing, pushing against the board. They could be downright endearing though and had distinct personalities. When you lost one it was like a family member.
I hope your dad's trailer works out for you.
Be safe out there!
Cheers
Terry from South Carolina
Remember at age 8 , old man turned me loose on a td24 clearing new ground with a 17 ton cable blade , yeah cable lasted a week .🤣👍🏻👍🏻
Yes THAY are ol bud style 1.1/5 nuts and Square primary interior nuts, those are supper low boy 15 inch tires,TimWills tire has all of the parts and tires for that trailer, that trailer is around 1946 maybe, walking beam, , nice thanks BigAl California.
Love to see your boy driving the doser. More kid should have the chance to see and learn how things really works. Not only computer stuff. Keep on the good work. 🇧🇻🇧🇻
That’s way cool to be teaching your son about that dozer at his age. My dad had me around heavy equipment at a young age. Now it’s my job. As for that trailer it doesn’t look as though it’s rated to handle that heavy 36 ton machine. At least not on old tires. Pretty cool video
Ya'll are doing it right, you have to teach them when they're young. I believe that people who grow up around farming and ranching have a better work ethic when they grow up. Maypop tires will always let go when you least expect it
When ever you get a chance replace those split rims, they are dangerous, I've heard horror stories on them from my boss back in the 80's of people losing body parts from them failing, he told me of one guy getting his head taken off from one, so yeah there's that.
GreAt job Riley driving the dozer, feel bad about the trailer but things always work out in the end one farm to another. Hang in there 😀👍❤️
Man do I feel bad for you. I wish I could make things easier for your family. I am absolutely amazed with Riley. That boy is going to do big things.hold your head up. Sending you prayers
Don’t feel bad for us we are living our dream out here!
Yes it comes with never ending challenge but in the end it’s all right and a great life even though it is not perfect
To me the deccelerator was always more like a brake than a clutch but he picked it up quick. Great job.
Well done for teaching the kid how to operate the cat.
Y'all need to call up Heavy D Sparks immediately. I think he just picked up a perfect trailer for that bulldozer at a old guys property they were cleaning up. Get Heavy D on the horn and ask his advice. He'll know exactly what to do and he'll probably help you solve your situation very economically. The dude is a problem solver who never leaves a guy hanging.
They only care if it benefits themselves. This? No
@@brandoncaldwell95 business is business. You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. That's how business works. They are both in business. Get over it.
Nice job Riley!! I remember running big dozer first time when can't really see
If I were a company owner looking for a good hand, you show me this video and I’m hiring Riley and paying him a pretty good hourly rate. You gotcha a good hand right there dad. Treat him right.
Riely you did a fantastic job. I always wanted to learn how to do what your doing.👍👍👍👍👏👏👏
That Riley want make a hand he was born a hand !
Reminds me of my baby at that age. I Love to wait him. Only thing is mine drowned at 17.
God Bless y'all
Sorry about your child
That is sad
I believe we will be with our family again after our time on this earth is finished.
Thanks for watching the videos 🙏
Best wishes from Anchor Brand Ranch ⚓️🐂
Ohhh I so sorry to hear about ur son 😔
That’s how I was taught as well at an early age, always check your dozer out and keep er greased and the tracks clean as you can that’s what makes them last as long as they do👍👍
One has to check the air pressure in each tire, when your carrying a d8 around and you've got low air in a tire it can multiply into severe damages to the trailer as you well know. Cheers !
Have not seen so many experienced small kids in one family.
Living on the ranch you need to be careful you don't catch the heavy metal disease. Wind up with too much iron and it all has to have TLC before it'll work. (If it decides to)
If you could with a paint pen mark each grease point for the boys it would make greasing quicker and easier and quicker and more certain none get missed.
That lads got talent, backing that dozer off the trailer took skill. Seen experience need operators get that wrong. Great video, hope you got the trailer sorted. Stay safe.
Bit of pride in the cleanliness of the inside of the cab wouldn’t go a miss, don’t forget you breath that shit in all day
I like how all the cows were looking for where the food came out.
Riley did a good job loading and unloading the dozer. Your trailer just couldn’t handle that big load. You’ve got some major damage but you can at least get it back to the yard.
Good Job, Riley!! Yes, I AM your FAN!!!
Let Me Tell your man that little boy is going to be running at about 9 all over the country for you he's one great little driver
That young man has full sized, funcitional Tonka toys. I am so jealous!
I think thats awsome dude. Showing them how to work machinery. He is doing pretty dang good with that big ole dozer.👍
Just making a point when explaining the controls on d8 it’s not a turtle & rabbit to be precise it’s from the fable tortoise and hare !!!
If I was going to haul that dozer on an undersized trailer I would make sure said trailer was in top shape mostly packing the wheel bearings or filling them with oil maybe a full inspection of the suspension and greasing everything
Drive the dozer to where you need it. Put old tires down to drive on if you're crossing concrete to minimize scratches,
When I was a kid I wish I had a father like you as an adult I still wish I had a dozer like that also a son who could do all the little odd jobs around the house.
Good luck with the Trailer, I know you are capable to fix it.
Go a head man.
Kid is a natural operating engineer.
@22:08 he mentions the tires are hot. That was the clue. Just after that you can see they are rubbing on the frame. And on the other side there is rubber piling up behind the dozer track. This trailer was waaaaay overloaded.
