You are correct regarding mistakes, keep going. I used to teach karate (retired now) and we taught students going in to test to keep going if they messed up. Who knows, the examiner may have missed it but if you stop and call attention to it. Nope, keep doing your best.
My absolute favorite way to start a Saturday is with a lesson from Lauren where we get to hear her sing as well. Bar chords are still tough for me, but the slide progression is doable. Thanks as always.

Well done. Great enthusiasm. I find Bm7 works just fine for Bm here. And it's perfect for this song because you just have to lift your finger off the B string when you play D chord. So you go from Bm7 to D with no other movement except ADDING one finger. Strum the same 4 strings. What could be easier?!

Two weeks ago I joined a music group, I'm 60 soon and there's a lovely young chap in early 20,s , both us never played before. I've wanted to all my life and bought my pink second hand acoustic nearly ten yrs ago. Sitting in a shrine area, looked at, dreamt off and tried unsuccessfully to play til recent. I am sure you realise you are the best on RUclips! And believe me I've saturated my head and still got nowhere, fast! Now I'm getting it! Slowly but at my second group they said I'm picking it up quicker than thought! That's major for me dear as with ADHD, bipolar 😅, life's been a journey alright and I took up art classes few years ago which obviously taught me patience as this goal has been with me always, music is a major part of my well being and thanks to you, I'm thinking I'm going to get this 👍 You're an angel with a guitar ❤🇭🇲

@jnicholas thanks for kindly asking. The timing of that is still on the 6 beat. Go very slow counting 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 6 I like leaving the up after the 5 and 6 off sometimes to help get the timing better.

I play many different instruments, and my two main ones are piano/keys and lead guitar. The problem I have had and continue to have with musicians is the fact they, like yourself, listen to the song but NOT the music. When you start using tabs, that are written by other individuals such as yourself, is where you start going wrong. I know you're intentions are good, but PLEASE teach your students the correct way. I have collected many pieces of software over time, one of them is a very good one called RIFFSTATION. What this does is read the song, then picks out the main notation you can see it as it scrolls across the screen. Please check this out. Thank you.
The 12/8 is very common in Stevie Ray Vaugh music. Listen to songs like Texas Flood or The Sky is Crying and you will really get the feel of 12/8 timing. Love your lessons. Long time bass player looking to play some guitar music like this to entertain myself.

Everyone else seems to be doing it with only 2 chords. This sounds better and the right way to play it. They also play the lead part different without as many sides and again this sounds like the right way to play it. I would rather learn right the first time than trying to back track what I've learned.

Everyone else seems to be doing it with only 2 chords. This sounds better and the right way to play it. They also play the lead part different without as many sides and again this sounds like the right way to play it. I would rather learn right the first time than trying to back track what I've learned.
