I realized an error in this video! 22:01 the rational intensity values change as tc changes. So a 15 min tc should have an intensity of 1.25 in/hr, not 2.18 in/hr. Sorry for the confusion!
Appreciated ❤. But please a quick question. It seems if we are asked to solve for flow rate of a 50 year return period, I don't see the return period of 50 being used in any part of the calculation. Could you kindly explain to me why ?
Thank you very much for creating this video. Where do you obtain the P (rainfall in inches) value? In the video you simply assumed the P value but where would you obtain the actual value to use? If you're using NOAA ATLAS 14 Point Precipitation Frequency Estimates for a 10 year storm which duration would you use to calculate the peak flowrate? 10-Minute? 3-Hour? Also, would it be possible to obtain a copy of the spreadsheet you created? Thank you again. This was extremely helpful!
Hi Paul, I have used the modified rational method to design my storm drain pipeline however my HGL is showing flat from upstream to downstream, do you know what might be the reason?

Awesome video!!! Thank you very much!!
Appreciate it!
Excellent work.. I hope to see more videos in the field of hydrological modeling..thank you :)
Appreciate it!
Such a great explanation. Thank you so much 😊
Your welcome!
Excellent video, thank you!!!
You’re welcome! :)
just found that my manual calculation using SCS method with Autodesk SSA MATCHES. THANKS
Awesome!

Hi! Different jurisdictions have different requirements. Where I work 10 year and 100 year are typical, although occasionally 50 year is needed ;)

Thanks for the comment! I responded via email :)
Great video! What are the advantages of calculating using the spreadsheet versus hydrocad?
Great question. Main advantage is spreadsheet is faster :) also less of a black box. Hydrocad works great though :)

Hmm…not sure. Shoot me the file or spreadsheet and I’ll take a look (emaildesignstorm@gmail.com)
What software are you using to markup those PDF's?
Bluebeam. What a great software
